I am so eternally thankful for you and your channel. I'm 70 and a few weeks behind you on my journey to health. Like you I've been binging on ketovore channels. I found a lovely woman named Violet who has a channel called Road to Health who is, I think, some kind of professional therapist. She is down to earth, and very grounded, and makes a scientific approach very relatable. You are my go to gals. I AM rewarding myself with things for my home. It makes me so happy to focus on that, and to have the energy to keep up with my dreams for my home while taking care of my 88 year old mother with dementia. When I think I may like to stray, I look at her and think of the mental clarity I've gained in the past few weeks and realize I don't want to get off this highway. Thank you so much Anne for being the wonderful, inspiring woman you are. ♥

I have to say that when my sugar spiked for the first time In my adult life it sent panic bells off. I had gained up to 250lbs on a 5' 3.5" frame. My asthma was terrible. My acid reflux was so bad at night my throat would burn. I couldn't do this to my body anymore! I'm so grateful for this channel. Staying on this path has so many twists and turns. I've been on again off again with keto for the past ten years. I love the visual you presented! Your voice in the background will be my radio on the trip! Lol Hugs!

Anne this may help you with time to get back to health estimates. I am in my late seventies and got an autoimmune problem about three years ago. My body was covered in psoriasis from having a metal plate put in my wrist during surgery, that I was not aware that I was allergic too, that I broke from a fall. I went on an almost zero carb diet and was told it would take 3 months to get rid of the psoriasis. I was at my last hope so I tried it. Anne in 4 months my entire was detoxed and the psoriasis was totally gone. I had had many health problems too most of my life so hang in there. I believe you will feel totally new in months not years. I am now on carnivore to stay healthy. 😢

Your analogy is spot on! For me, having daily signals to myself that help me to remember how much better I felt and looked when I was so much thinner makes a big difference. For example, I have a ring that I haven't been able to wear in years that now fits, it's tight but it fits. I look at that ring on my hand all the time and say to myself, "You've been able to get it on and soon it will get even looser". I need to see things on me that prove I'm making progress. I know I feel 100% better, much clearer in my head and not tired all the time, but I want a more visible cue to keep me on the path. I also keep a photo nearby in my purse of me at my ideal weight. When I feel like I'm wanting to veer off course, I look at that photo and remember how good and strong and comfortable I felt which then motivates me to not 'exit'. I do not own a scale and I am not measuring myself. I know I will get stuck on the numbers. This time around, I'm really paying attention to how my body feels, how specific body parts look, and how my clothing feels. Anne, I so agree that we need to reward ourselves too. I'm doing keto, and I reward myself by buying specialty keto ingredients that are on the pricier side. I have always loved cooking and consider myself a thrifty/frugal person. Never would I have ever thought to purchase these higher priced items just for myself, but now I am and I don't feel one bit guilty for it!😁😊

I lost 40 pounds right off the bat when I started fasting and eating carnivore. I've spent the last year at the same weight. My composition is completely different then when I was at this weight previously. I wear smaller clothes, too. I'm frustrated that I haven't been able to budge past this weight. I have had days I've fallen off the wagon. I don't like how I feel when I eat sugar. I really like you analogy of the road trip. When it takes this long to see more results sometimes all the logic and positive signs you see aren't enough. I'm almost 10 month in and have lost over 40lbs and my cousin 90lbs. She showed me the way...Told me when first starting out make some keto treats to help get you over the very hard days...I did and it worked. Some keto mini brownie bites with erithyrol sweetener . It truly helped me thru the first 3 months, especially. I have made keto pizza crust for a treat too.
For my bday I made keto cheese cake bites. ❤ This is a lifestyle and not a diet, and you can find ways to still enjoy going lower carb. When I first started I also made keto style Mac and Cheese using the riced garlic cauliflower with cheese , sourcream, butter and whipping cream and bake it.. I still lost weight! I found doing this helped me stay on track. I still stayed within my 20 carbs per day. I now for the most part crave meat , but once a week I allow myself a piece of keto bread. This is much better then eating a regular candy bar or falling off the wagon. I also make a keto iced coffee with just adding some whipping cream with vanilla and cinnamon and lots of ice!
I lost weight using these methods and feeling good! I also made cheese chaffles with a mini chaffle maker and put some cream cheese on top. I know this is more keto eating, but now I've evolved the last month to more carnivore. These tricks my cousin advised worked!! I lost weight and felt in control. I still was staying at 20 carbs per day. I fast and often eat only 1 meal then switch my eating up on the weekends too. Keep my body from getting set in a food pattern.
I wish you luck Anne! You got this!
Remember, a keto treat is better then falling off completely!❤

Great analogy! I'm on day two of a 30 day initial commitment, though I believe it will be more like 90. I got the my fitness pal app so I could track my calories and fat/protein ratios. According to that app, I should be consuming 1350 calories/day and reach my weight goal by the first week of October. I was basically doing OMAD prior to carnivore so that transition isn't a huge leap. I'm remembering what it felt like not to have those high/low energy events, and that's great! My biggest challenge will be having meals prepped and ready to eat or at least planned with minimal prep time. I' going to attempt to prep 5-7 meals tomorrow. If you feel like rewarding yourself with new outfit, I highly recommend going to your local thrift shop. That's what I did when I was losing my post-menopausal weight. That's good that you are making the emotional connection with food memories. I "grieved" for many different foods while I was on a strict diet to heal my gut and eczema. I does pass. One of biggest fears with carnivore is developing "meat aversion", so I am seeking carnivore recipes to add to the arsenal and foods to put into a rotation. Steak and Butter Gal and Ketogenic Woman have some good ones.
