    I see where you are coming from. But I think racism is a bad word for it. Maybe it’s more like a strong disdain based on history. We do have to remember this was their island, now they have “Hallies” coming in and running their show like they haven’t been doing it a long time before we came. That has to be hard on them and people don’t just forget their history, especially when they are big on culture. Respect goes both ways.

    • @CrosbyTheNomadNurse
      @CrosbyTheNomadNurse  5 років тому +3

      It def goes both ways. Let me ask you this though, should we treat illegal immigrants that way here too?

    • @ChrissyRose777
      @ChrissyRose777 5 років тому +20

      Crosby Steen, MSN, RN First people can not be illegal, they aren’t goods or products. We have to remember this country was indeed stolen. It wouldn’t be fair to treat immigrants poorly when we were once “immigrants”. It goes back to treating everyone with respect.

      @@CrosbyTheNomadNurse you have to remember this though. You are an illegal immigrant in their eyes. You’re some white guy from the states who has the privilege to move and work, and live there. Please recognize that you are the immigrant here.

    Racism towards whites? Hmmm. Maybe disdain thru history. Coming from a brown skinned filipino male nurse like me, I deal with racism almost on constant basis here on the mainland. Racism is something I wish on no one. Looking forward to doing travel nursing in hawaii soon.

      Disdain based on the color of your skin is racism. Come on now. It doesn't matter what the color is. If someone sees you and the only reason they have to treat you badly is because of the color of your skin then it's racism. Point blank.

    • @CrosbyTheNomadNurse
      @CrosbyTheNomadNurse  6 років тому

      I would say that the ER setting always presents a uniques challenge each and every time. All nursing presents challenges however with ER you just have no clue what's going to walk in.

      Crosby Steen, MSN, RN I meant differences in how that ER is ran compared to others? I am on month two of orientation at my local ER and am just wondering if departments vary much.

    • @CrosbyTheNomadNurse
      @CrosbyTheNomadNurse  6 років тому +1

      Oh my bad! lol So it really isn't much different in ER's on a routine basis. The main difference is the level of trauma center or the volume of the ER. All protocols are pretty much the same. The ER i'm currently at is very slow compared to the other ones, but they still do a good job overall. They just don't have high enough volume at this ER to really see anything too crazy.

    Hawaii is not like the States you are a minority here" *Says the Caucasian*
    Did anyone hear that? Because last time I checked, Hawaii IS a state, so technically racism still occurs in every state all over the USA. Also, I apologize that you as a Caucasian individual felt the need to mention racism as one of Hawaii's Cons. I'm glad that you are able to notice how uncomfortable the experience may feel. Now, reflect on those situations and imagine how it must feel to be, your definition of a "minority" (meaning those who are not of the land/ not Caucasian) in America. Anyway, thanks for the information. My suggestion: Prepare a monologue script before you actually record, to double check that you won't accidently mention something that could possibly offend another person or in your case-- minorities in general. Regardless of it all, you seem very genuine and keep up the good work!!! Aloha.

    • @CrosbyTheNomadNurse
      @CrosbyTheNomadNurse  5 років тому +11

      Ok I don’t think you were being condescending. But nevertheless, I speak on issues that I have. I can’t speak to any other perspective. So yes I speak as a Caucasian. Now I e lived in South Korea, Turkey, and Japan. So I’m familiar with being a minority, and it doesn’t bother me. I accept it. I also speak from MY perspective, as for preparing a script, you can go ahead and make 300 videos for UA-cam and then I will value your opinion on how to make videos. All my vids are unscripted and real, if you don’t like that perspective then feel free to NOT watch.
