The Phantasy Star and Shining Force series where some of my favorites growing up. It's a shame that both franchises were handled so poorly during later generations.
I hear you there. Before new kids were crying over Final Fantasy VII, I was mourning the death of Alys Brangwin and declaring war with Zio the fucking magician. And Shining Force? There isn't an unkind thing you can possibly say about Shining Force. The games have infinite replay value. I've played dozens of times, choosing different combinations of teams. It's never the same game twice. Too bad the franchises ended up working dead-end jobs as Shining in the Darkness and PSU. =/
Boogerman was hands down my fav. I begged and begged, but moms wasn't having it. She finally broke down and bought it for me for Christmas. Then she ended up loving it and getting hooked. I think she beat it 7 or 8 times. She did the same with Mega Man 7 on the PS1.
I think ristar deserves better than just an honorable mention. That game was damn great. Awesome and catchy music, well designed and colorfull graphics, incredible level design, epic boss battles and totally replayable.
Damn right. Gunstar heoes better be on this list. I grew up on Aladdin, TMNT, and of course the sonic games, but Gunstar Heroes really clicked with me. The action was just off the charts and with 2 players it made me feel like rambo for some reason.
Alucard8319 I wasn't even bashing the list. The only thing I said, was I'm glad Gunstar heroes was on it. Never said, it should be on top. Also, based on your logic, this is my opinion as well,
I had so much trouble finding Shining Force 2 growing up (loved the first game). I was a full grown adult before I ever found a copy. Had to make up for lost time with the hours I've spent on it.
+R Moocher2 haha did you see the graphics on most games at the time, very dull and boring, Mackey came along and it was so bright looking and the graphics and gameplay were spot on, it just made a nice change that was all!
I loved playing Golden Axe on Genesis. Played with my nephew... great game! UMK3 was also an other game I liked, Power Rangers the movie, Streets of Rage, Wonderboy in Monsterland 3. Good memories
I'm glad they included Comix Zone. I never got past the first stage and was blown away by it. I never got a chance to beat it as everything then became Sony and Nintendo.
Is it worth buying one? I was in game stop (before the pandemic hit) and was looking at one. I also found a Genesis collection for Xbox360 that I ended up buying and am already fed up with it because hardly any of the games on it are worthwhile.
The Strike series (Desert, Jungle and Urban), also Red Zone (it the best grafics i have seen on the Genesis) also X-man 2 Clone wars and Shinobi3 are of my all time favorite games

***** The hardest game under my belt so far is Ninja Gaiden 2 for the 360. The only game I've ever beaten on my SNES is Super Godzilla and thats not even difficult. I cant even beat Spiderman Maximum Carnage
I had to restart like 3 times and it took me 2 years because of the amount of rage I would go through. But once I beat it I felt like I actually accomplished something haha
I would struggle to make a top 10 genesis list, so many great games and I don't know what I'd leave out. The Mega Drive is my favorite console of all time and still play many games from the system.
Meh not really XD was just seeing this channel's opinion on top 10 genesis games...I'm surprised streets of rage 2 wasnt in 2 spot while sonic is in 1 because they both have alot of MODS today...like when steam released that Syndicate Boss Edition of some sort where you could play as the enemies and bosses which I thought was awesome!!! Not to forget then sonic has Sonic Mania with tons of MODS as well....I mean sure there are ROM HACKS out there but meh to me...all the same.
This SEGA list is bought to you by SEGA Genesis Classics in each platform of PS4, XBOX, or Nintendo Switch or any kept Genesis consoles that they have in their collection. Of course Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is the most addicting Genesis game ever and I love playing that.
Sonic the hedgehog 1 was the first Sega Genesis game that I ever played when I was a baby! And that's when I got into the Sonic franchise ever since! SEGA!
Sonic 2 was awesome I remember getting that with 4 proofs of purchase of post cereal... Glad you went with number 1 and impressed you threw in Alladin at number 5, one of my favorites.
@The nice Man Excuse me but it seems that you don't understand the how sonic games work so let me explain Sonic 1 was more about tight platforming sonic 2 was more based speedy game play and sonic 3 was a mix of both but incase you hadn't notice in all of them you have to earn your speed you can't just expect to hold forward and expect to go at break neck speeds (Like modern day 3rd sonic games.) You have to perfectly time your jumps know when to roll and when to run and expect what's coming infront of you that's how you can maintain your speed even as Super sonic you need to follow these rules and that was what made Sonic popular.
Sega really needs more appreciation. They made many awesome games like Sonic (whole franchise), Asterix and the power of the gods (my favourite game), my cousins played Contra although I wasn't a huge fan and many more.
No man. Super nintendo. The literal only thing Sega had on SNES was speed, hence why it was sonic's thing. I'm not speakin on opinion just google spec differences and it's not even close. Also watch high score on Netflix. Great episode on sega.
You guys are forgetting about Herzog Zwei. That game was so ahead of its time. An amazing real time strategy that you can play with friends or computers. There was nothing else like it and it was intense! It was one of those rare collectors games though not everyone could get their hands on a copy.
Fingernail guy was known as Kung Fung. I didn't think he was all that hard tbh. Just gotta time your jumps right and land your kicks on the way down from those jumps. The world that followed that was mighty tough though. I was able to beat Mortis and save the girl in time (because if you're too slow you can beat Mortis but she still dies = bad ending). That was tough.
Where the hell is Contra Hard Corps? You picked Contra 3 in top snes games. Both games are similar, but Hard Corps couldn't have a honorable mention. That's just cheap.
09Thewilson No, in fact, it's much easier than original & SNES sequel. In comparison with, say, Alien 3 and Doom Troopers it was like a tutorial in modern games. But still this game was a PERFECT and easily the best Sega Megadrive game ever.
Having just went back to the system to play again some old titles, I can agree that Sonic 2 is the best, if not the only one game worth playing, among all the ones I own.
Sonic 3 is my pick. Featuring Music by the King of Pop himself, this game truly revolutionized the Sonic Fomula. With getting into special stages without a set number of rings, a new rival/ally Knuckles, and the competitve mode, making tournaments a blast to have. Sonic 3 will have your mind blown time and time again every time you play it, especially with the many possible routes you can take.
The haunting starring Polterguy was one of my all time favorites my cousin who passed away young and I played it all the times and he loved that I could find stuff he couldn't.
Sonic 3 and Knuckles is my favorite classic Sonic game of all time which triumphs over all the other classic Sonic games which is beloved by all which should've been #1.
Not a bad list, but mine is far better :p By no particular order: Sonic 2 Streets of Rage 2 Kid chameleon The Story of Thor (Beyond Oasis) Castlevania Bloodlines Aladdin Another World Super Street Fighter 2 Shadow Dancer Mortal Kombat 3

Ecco the Dolphin as an honorable mention..? You forgot Shinobi and Earthworm Jim
Earthworm Jim was also on the SNES so it didn't count. Great game though
***** ah yeah i totally forgot it was on SNES.
Anyone came here after knowing the Sega Genesis Mini coming out in September 2019?
Meh not really XD was just seeing this channel's opinion on top 10 genesis games...I'm surprised streets of rage 2 wasnt in 2 spot while sonic is in 1 because they both have alot of MODS today...like when steam released that Syndicate Boss Edition of some sort where you could play as the enemies and bosses which I thought was awesome!!! Not to forget then sonic has Sonic Mania with tons of MODS as well....I mean sure there are ROM HACKS out there but meh to me...all the same.
I came here after buying the Genesis Mini for Black Friday. I wanted to know the best games worth playing that I hadn't heard of lol.
Kid Chameleon! My favorite adventure game of all time.
Sonic the hedgehog will always be my favorite Sega Genesis game.
Blockhead mine are sonic 2,3 knuckles, 3D blast, spinball, mean bean machine, vectorman 1 and 2, comix zone, decap attack, and streets of rage 2 and 3
@The nice Man Excuse me but it seems that you don't understand the how sonic games work so let me explain Sonic 1 was more about tight platforming sonic 2 was more based speedy game play and sonic 3 was a mix of both but incase you hadn't notice in all of them you have to earn your speed you can't just expect to hold forward and expect to go at break neck speeds (Like modern day 3rd sonic games.) You have to perfectly time your jumps know when to roll and when to run and expect what's coming infront of you that's how you can maintain your speed even as Super sonic you need to follow these rules and that was what made Sonic popular.
I wanted "Krusty's super fun house" in honorable mention
Please do Top 10 Sega games/franchises!! :D
Nintendo - Mario
Sega - Sonic
PlayStation - Crash
XBOX - Master Chief
Xbox halo
PC - Doom
@@deadrock1678 Smart Refrigerator - Doom
Alexa - Skyrim
Sega really needs more appreciation. They made many awesome games like Sonic (whole franchise), Asterix and the power of the gods (my favourite game), my cousins played Contra although I wasn't a huge fan and many more.
Geneses had the best graphics even for today's standards
Idk man nealy every super nintendo game looks better
@@jackgraham96 they both have better games it depends what it is some even look ps1
No man. Super nintendo. The literal only thing Sega had on SNES was speed, hence why it was sonic's thing. I'm not speakin on opinion just google spec differences and it's not even close. Also watch high score on Netflix. Great episode on sega.
Super nintendo games look more polished and pretty but i thing sega runs games more smoothly with less fps drops. both are awesome!
WHERE IS MICHAEL JACKSON'S MOONWALKER??? THAT GAME WAS AWESOME!!!
That is one of the worst...
That game was so homosexual
At the Neverland Ranch???
I liked that game. I also liked Altered Beast
Noone is willing to touch anything michael jackson related these days. Loved that game back in the day
Phantasy star 4 best rpg ever!
Sonic 2 definitely deserves it's spot as number 1.
It is lol.
Sonic 3 & Knuckles is better.
@@infinitemillennium3821 sandopolis sucks
@@chesspunk489 lol it is more like you suck at Sandopolis btw Metropolis is worse.
I enjoyed metropolis but I did not enjoy sandopolis. I hate maze levels in sonic games.
Aaah, yes: classic Sega Genesis goodness!
I'd swap out Castlevania Bloodlines for another Konami classic,
Rocket Knight Adventures.
You guys are forgetting about Herzog Zwei. That game was so ahead of its time. An amazing real time strategy that you can play with friends or computers. There was nothing else like it and it was intense! It was one of those rare collectors games though not everyone could get their hands on a copy.
The Ren & Stimpy Show: Stimpy's Invention should have been #9
My favorite is Comix Zone.
same here, have great memories with that game.
Cyrus The Great I couldn't beat the boss (finger nail guy) such a hard game
Fingernail guy was known as Kung Fung. I didn't think he was all that hard tbh. Just gotta time your jumps right and land your kicks on the way down from those jumps. The world that followed that was mighty tough though. I was able to beat Mortis and save the girl in time (because if you're too slow you can beat Mortis but she still dies = bad ending). That was tough.
Gunstar heroes should've been number 1, it's by far the best sega genesis game of all time.
my favorite sega games were 'phantasy star III' and 'beyond oasis'.
Beyond Oasis. Damn, I used to love that game back in the day.
My dad plays through Sonic 1,2,3 & Ecco The Dolphin at least once a year.
when sega made the compact version of genisis sonic 2 was bundled with it. as far as my favorite sega game...i loved general chaos.
the memories
Streets of Rage 2 is one of my favorite games ever!!
Agree!
Anyone heard of the sunset riders....its awesome
I was hoping they would have picked Contra: Hard Corps. May be next time.
Where the hell is Contra Hard Corps? You picked Contra 3 in top snes games. Both games are similar, but Hard Corps couldn't have a honorable mention. That's just cheap.
Probably because Hard Corps is absolutely insanely difficult
***** One week practice and you can master it.
09Thewilson No, in fact, it's much easier than original & SNES sequel. In comparison with, say, Alien 3 and Doom Troopers it was like a tutorial in modern games. But still this game was a PERFECT and easily the best Sega Megadrive game ever.
Максим Кузьмин hmm
f. g I agree.
So glad you put Bloodlines on here! One of the best games in a landmark series
shadowrun. way ahead of its time
Having just went back to the system to play again some old titles, I can agree that Sonic 2 is the best, if not the only one game worth playing, among all the ones I own.
Ristar receiving no love as usual.
Streets of rage is my #1 I still play it till this day
The haunting starring Polterguy was one of my all time favorites my cousin who passed away young and I played it all the times and he loved that I could find stuff he couldn't.
Top 10 boxing matches in history.
Toejam & Earl is amazing, should have been at least in the Top 5.
Sonic 3 and Knuckles is my favorite classic Sonic game of all time which triumphs over all the other classic Sonic games which is beloved by all which should've been #1.
Not a bad list, but mine is far better :p
By no particular order:
Sonic 2
Streets of Rage 2
Kid chameleon
The Story of Thor (Beyond Oasis)

Tom and jerry? Show your proof m8te
A much better list than the Watch Mojo Master System list, but weirdly you've included NBA Jam in the honourable mentions. which was also available on the SNES around the same time - contrary to your cut off rule.
Shinobi 3 should've been on this list.
