No shinobi? especially shinobi 3? the game kicked ass,one of all time favorites
+Marlon Rodrigues
I was just about to make the same comment. Glad I read the comments first, lol. :)
+Marlon Rodrigues
Crazy shinobi 3 isnt on the list
Shinobi 3 is nowhere near as good as Revenge of Shinobi
I have watched a lot of theses top ten list and no love for Shinobi on any of them.
yea but the ending sucked balls especially in us with no credits
I used to go to my friend's house JUST to play Streets of Rage 2 on his Genesis, lol. We had a blast back then :)
*It’s called blast processing!*
Nuce best Sega game can ut beat Final fight for Snes
@@afriend9428 Ohh no! Never touch the blast processor 🙃
Earthworm Jim doesn't even get an honorable mention? Shame
br it's like this.
no earthworm Jim?!
For Shame Watchmojo For Shame!
I think they were aiming for exclusives only for this list. Earthworm jim was only a time exclusive for the Genesis at the time, then SNES got a port.
yep
@@saltysocks1225 hell yeah, earth worm Jim!!!! What about zombies ate my neighbors
What about zombies ate my neighbors?
The Sega Megadrive was the 1st console i owned I remember getting it xmas day early 90s, its up there as my favourite console of all time.Sonic 1 was the game that got me fully into gaming also Streets Of Rage,Revenge Of Shinobi,Golden Axe and the Disney games like Aladdin,Quackshot,World Of Illusion,i still play these games now.
Flashback, Mutant League Football and Earthworm Jim are some of my fave games ever. Love the Genny.
mutant league was also a good cartoon !!
+shane womeldorff I loved the mutant league cartoon. Bones Justice and the Razor Kid eating fly tacos and losing limbs. Awesome!
+Ron Rose holy shit...mutant league football. god i remember that....i loved how you could turn the refs into paste
Streets of Rage 2 is basically the best "beat 'em up" ever.
Freaking music alone is above any other 16 bit title.
All 3 streets of rage games are insanely good!!
Streets of Rage 4 is being released this year. I'm Excited and nervous about that.
Gaurdian Heroes is better.
Personally I think Shadow Over Mystara is the best beat 'em up. Also I think DK Country has better music (Aquatic Ambience was a miracle by itself). Nevertheless SoR2 is definitely top 3 of the Genesis and that instantly rise it to the status of a classic.
Sonic 3 & Knuckles's Soundtrack is superior.
Sega has that unique music that'll make you say, "Yep, that's Sega." I think the most recognizable feature is the synth bass it uses.
Wellll for music diversity that wasn’t a good thing. All genesis games sounded the same. The SNES had superior sound chip in that regard. And don’t get me wrong, I love both systems. Just a shame that Sega rushed to get their 16 bit system out before Nintendo and skimped on a few things.
@@My2Cents1 Of course the SNES had a better sound chip. There's a slew of composers who knew what to do with the Mega Drive's hardware limitations like Yuzo Kosiro and Michael Jackson, giving us a few games with legendary music.
@@js1459
Yeah I can't argue with that one. Technical limitations often yield the greatest results. It's why Final Fantasy 6 OST (SNES) is still one of the most listened to scores. It's just that the Genesis was REALLY limited. That same bass and lead synth can be heard in almost every game, and although I totally appreciate that "cozy" familiar feeling it brings, it's still odd that Sega overlooked such an important feature. But... I guess that's part of the charm now.
I was obviously a SNES fan way back when. But soon you learn to put those petty preferences aside. I recently bought myself a Sega Genesis Classic Mini, and I'm having amazing fun catching up on titles I missed out on. But, my younger brother had the Genesis and MJ's Moonwalker was so fun. However, I doubt that MJ actually arranged the chip music for the game. Or did he? :P
My brother also had another game where the music stood out. I think it was called Arrow Flash.
@@My2Cents1 Michael Jackson originally wrote the score to Sonic 2 but after he listened to it he scrapped it and quit. What a jerk...Glad he did quit because Sonic 2 has a soundtrack I'll never forget.
@@finalnuts6595 Sonic 2's soundtrack was composed by Masato Nakamura not MJ.
Dune: The Battle for Arrakis was awesome too D:
Agree. Damn i miss this game even i dont like RTS :)
I enjoy Sonic the Hedgehog 2 as well. It introduced one of my favorite video game characters: Tails and it also introduces the Spin Dash too. I usually play as Tails.
Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master!
exactly
my favorite game of all time what is wrong with game today they may look nice and real but it have no soul to it unlike the 90 and 80 game
Echo the dolphin sucked, how the fok is it on anyones list..
Good list but needs more shinobi
+invanillasky read my list
I think ristar deserves better than just an honorable mention. That game was damn great. Awesome and catchy music, well designed and colorfull graphics, incredible level design, epic boss battles and totally replayable.
Yeah! Especially music like in the second level of Freon Ice Scream, and the bosses like Adahan (Scorch) and Uranim (Automaton) were fun.
Road rash 2 or 3 should have been in this.
the 3 was rock solid
I'm a huge fan of the road rash games, but it doesn't quite make my top 10 mega drive games. Road Rash 2 (my favorite of the road rash series), is in my top 20 mega drive games, just falls short of top 10 in my book, but still great games.
Road Rash 2 is definitely my favorite racing game on the genesis.
I really loved Jurassic Park on the Genesis as well as on the SNES even though they were vastly different games.
+Varg Agreed.
The Phantasy Star and Shining Force series where some of my favorites growing up. It's a shame that both franchises were handled so poorly during later generations.
I hear you there. Before new kids were crying over Final Fantasy VII, I was mourning the death of Alys Brangwin and declaring war with Zio the fucking magician. And Shining Force? There isn't an unkind thing you can possibly say about Shining Force. The games have infinite replay value. I've played dozens of times, choosing different combinations of teams. It's never the same game twice. Too bad the franchises ended up working dead-end jobs as Shining in the Darkness and PSU. =/
@@HaveYouSeenAndy Dude, spoiler alert.
Sonia The Hedgehog 2 was the first game I played in my life.
Sonia ?
c
It's not sonia its sonic
@@ripli3275 joe mama's adventures
It’s Sonic the Hedgehog 2, not Sonia the Hedgehog 2.
Shining Force 2 is my pick. Kick ass RPG that no one seemed to have played. At least it got an honorable mention
After 20 years, SF2 is still one of my favorite games of all time. The first one was great, but 2 did it so much better!
Never saw that Djinn which was shown in this video. Was he only in the american version?
I had so much trouble finding Shining Force 2 growing up (loved the first game). I was a full grown adult before I ever found a copy. Had to make up for lost time with the hours I've spent on it.
Shinning Force 2 hands down my favorite Sega game.... amazing and blew my mind as a little kid
+Anthony DiMaio Agreed. Still play it to this day. Hell yes Kazin as a sorc.
Hell yeah. Shoulda been Number 1. Like the guy above me I still play it
I agree when I was a kid I played it all the time its beautiful but was too lazy too ever beat Zeon
Shining Force 2 is my favorite Genesis game hands down!!!
Uh huh.....i think I’ve played through it I don’t know 100 times? Never gets old. Sarah master monk fucking owns
I loved both of them. Especially 2. But one still holds a special place in my heart.
where you putting your hands?
@@scottytoohotty8510 lmao the Sarah monk. Yeah Shining Force 2 was amazing. Honestly Comix Zone had incredible controls and gameplay as well. It was challenging and short but it was badass nonetheless.
@Scotty Too hotty Completely agree. Master monk Sarah is virtually unstoppable. The most powerful character in the game.
UA-cam needs more SEGA ♥ ☺
iPLAY SEGA!! IKR!!!!
Nah sega sucks ass
***** True because Nintendo didn't turn into a shitty almost bankrupt company but sega did
***** Lol yah alright you gonna murder them yourself little boy that's cute
***** That's cool lol
Damn right. Gunstar heoes better be on this list. I grew up on Aladdin, TMNT, and of course the sonic games, but Gunstar Heroes really clicked with me. The action was just off the charts and with 2 players it made me feel like rambo for some reason.
lol it's just an opinion. YOu post your own video with your opinion top. Voila. So funny people out here
Alucard8319 I wasn't even bashing the list. The only thing I said, was I'm glad Gunstar heroes was on it. Never said, it should be on top. Also, based on your logic, this is my opinion as well,
Sonic the hedgehog 1 was the first Sega Genesis game that I ever played when I was a baby! And that's when I got into the Sonic franchise ever since! SEGA!
Sonic 2 still one of my favorite games of all time
Thanks for the list! Just put together my Raspberry Pi (Retropie) and needed some ideas.
my whole childhood on this list 💯💯💯
Ecco the Dolphin as an honorable mention..? You forgot Shinobi and Earthworm Jim
Earthworm Jim was also on the SNES so it didn't count. Great game though
***** ah yeah i totally forgot it was on SNES.
This list just makes me glad I had a Super Nintendo
Sonic 2 was awesome I remember getting that with 4 proofs of purchase of post cereal... Glad you went with number 1 and impressed you threw in Alladin at number 5, one of my favorites.
I'd swap out Castlevania Bloodlines for another Konami classic,
Rocket Knight Adventures.
This is a pretty good list, but a few of favorites were left out. Basically, Earthworm Jim (1 or 2) is near the top of the list for me, and Mutant League Football was amazing to play. I grew up with this system, and actually just traded my Sega Dreamcast in for a Genesis and some games. Nothing beats the good ol' blast processor!
Mutant League football was one of the best games ever! I remembered tackling a monster and his body spilt in half lmho.
When I bought my Sega Genesis in the late 80s if was bundled with Altered Beast not Sonic, as that game wasn't even out then.
My dad plays through Sonic 1,2,3 & Ecco The Dolphin at least once a year.
No Contra Hard Corps? Bulldust!
+Eric Wood I'm gessing Castlevania took it's place on the list lol
VixXstazosJOB
I'm sure both deserve a place. Granted, though, picking just 10 best games on this or any platform would be hell..
+Eric Wood Not even an honorable mention :(
I forth that!!
Eric Wood Bulldust. BullDUST. Dust.
Having just went back to the system to play again some old titles, I can agree that Sonic 2 is the best, if not the only one game worth playing, among all the ones I own.
I feel like Vectorman should have been number 2
Where the hell is Contra Hard Corps? You picked Contra 3 in top snes games. Both games are similar, but Hard Corps couldn't have a honorable mention. That's just cheap.
Probably because Hard Corps is absolutely insanely difficult
***** One week practice and you can master it.
09Thewilson No, in fact, it's much easier than original & SNES sequel. In comparison with, say, Alien 3 and Doom Troopers it was like a tutorial in modern games. But still this game was a PERFECT and easily the best Sega Megadrive game ever.
Максим Кузьмин hmm
f. g I agree.
shadowrun. way ahead of its time
I REMEMBER WHEN YOU BEAT A GAME ITS WAS LEGENDARY IN YOUR AREA
Beat a game? On a Sega? What is this madness you speak of?!?
Nice. Games back then were rather difficult.
***** The hardest game under my belt so far is Ninja Gaiden 2 for the 360. The only game I've ever beaten on my SNES is Super Godzilla and thats not even difficult. I cant even beat Spiderman Maximum Carnage
I had to restart like 3 times and it took me 2 years because of the amount of rage I would go through. But once I beat it I felt like I actually accomplished something haha
I was hoping they would have picked Contra: Hard Corps. May be next time.
Phantasy Star 4 should've made the actual list.
Yes sir. rika’s double slash all day
We all know Chaz was banging Rika after the end. haha
Amen, Equals Final Fantasy 6 for the best 16 bit RPG
My favorite game ever, Phantasy Star 4 was outstanding. Music, storyline, graphics, overall gameplay... Best RPG I ever played.
Oh absolutely, it's at least the second best RPG on the system. I know many would say best and I don't begrudge them a bit but I personally gotta put Shinning Force before it. Another glaring omition from the list. Especially since it's sequel which is inferior at least got a HM
Yes!! This is the list i've been waiting for!! Do more 16-bit era stuff!
Streets of Rage 2 is one of my favorite games ever!!
Agree!
WHERE IS MICHAEL JACKSON'S MOONWALKER??? THAT GAME WAS AWESOME!!!
That is one of the worst...
That game was so homosexual
At the Neverland Ranch???
I liked that game. I also liked Altered Beast
Noone is willing to touch anything michael jackson related these days. Loved that game back in the day
The best games was
Lion king
Street of rage
Tiny toon
Tom and jerry
Tom and jerry? Show your proof m8te
Shinobi 3 should've been on this list.
Sonic 2 definitely deserves it's spot as number 1.
It is lol.
Sonic 3 & Knuckles is better.
@@infinitemillennium3821 sandopolis sucks
@@chesspunk489 lol it is more like you suck at Sandopolis btw Metropolis is worse.
I enjoyed metropolis but I did not enjoy sandopolis. I hate maze levels in sonic games.
Contra Hard Corps
Rocket Knight Adventures
I'm glad someone mentioned them.
Thanks. And besides, those two games, namely Contra Hard Corps, USUALLY get recognition in a myriad of Top 10 or Top 20 Genesis titles. Rocket Knight Adventures is an underrated Genesis game, but in most cases we see that game on a lot of Top 10s and Top 20s.
Yeah. But Rocket Knight is underrated all round. It should be held in high regard on any videogame list, not just the genesis. That's how I feel about it, anyway. Interesting to note, from what I hear, Rocket Knight was largely formed by the team who went on to become Treasure. After Rocket Knight, they left Konami and made Gunstar Heroes. Well ... so I've heard.
Contra Hard Corps, Adventures of Batman and Robin, sigh...
***** Well yes, howewer Adventures of Batman and Robin on Genesis is totally different from SNES version.
i haven't seen the video yet and by the looks of it they left Contra Hard corps off!?!... probably the game i put the most time in.
Great list, hard to beat Sonic out of the # 1 spot
So wait..
•No shadow dancer the secret of shinobi
•No Street Fighter 2
•No Quackshot (with Donald Duck)
•No Arrow flash
•No True Lies (with Arnold Schwarzenegger)
•No Tecmo Cup
•No Fifa 1995
•No Double Dragon
•No Rambo 3
Like... Seriously? o.O
A lot of these are on other consoles.
Traxixxxx multi platform games...
Sonic 3 is my pick. Featuring Music by the King of Pop himself, this game truly revolutionized the Sonic Fomula. With getting into special stages without a set number of rings, a new rival/ally Knuckles, and the competitve mode, making tournaments a blast to have. Sonic 3 will have your mind blown time and time again every time you play it, especially with the many possible routes you can take.
Nintendo - Mario
Sega - Sonic
PlayStation - Crash
XBOX - Master Chief
Xbox halo
PC - Doom
@@deadrock1678 Smart Refrigerator - Doom
Alexa - Skyrim
my favorite sega games were 'phantasy star III' and 'beyond oasis'.
Beyond Oasis. Damn, I used to love that game back in the day.
I agree I looooove SONIC 2 it's my childhood.
honorable mentions Shinobi 3, lion king and sonic and knuckles
Who remembers Scooby Doo game on SNES ?! It was so amazing to play !
Streets of Rage 2! That game has so good music!
10. Shining Force 2
9. Comix Zone
8. Bonanza Bros.
7. Shinobi 3
6. Mortal Kombat
5. Phantasy Star 2
4. Golden Axe
3. Strider
2. Sonic 3
1. Streets of Rage 2
This SEGA list is bought to you by SEGA Genesis Classics in each platform of PS4, XBOX, or Nintendo Switch or any kept Genesis consoles that they have in their collection. Of course Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is the most addicting Genesis game ever and I love playing that.
A much better list than the Watch Mojo Master System list, but weirdly you've included NBA Jam in the honourable mentions. which was also available on the SNES around the same time - contrary to your cut off rule.
Of the Top 10 games listed here, I own 7 of them. I guess I just have good taste.
Strider
Golden Axe
Comix Zone
Aladdin
Castlevania Bloodlines
Streets of Rage 2
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Everybody fuckin has those games if you've got a Genesis.
You must be a pleasant individual.
Lol
Never heard of Strider or Castlevania here in the UK until a few years ago. UK and USA lists always differ with at least 5 games and its usually the same ones like those 2.
Funny, I was under the impression Strider on Mega Drive was more popular over there.
It was certainly cheaper on Mega Drive than Genesis, I'll say that much.
Dude streets of rage 2 was the best!! Definitely one of my top fave sega games. Same with turtles 🐢 heist. Same with earth worm jim, echo the dolphin
Not even a honorable mention to the Shinobi series? what the fuck Mojo
I know right i friggin LOVED shinobi 3
So do I. That's like not mentioning Killzone 2 for the PS3 or Gears of War for the 360
Yea Shinobi was good even as a Tiger game and vou know what Tiger games were
Shinibi should have been 2nd.
Clearly he must have sucked at it.
road rash is my fav game of all time.
altered beast isn't on The list ;-;

Pretty good top 10 & honorable mentions, but can’t believe you left out Shinobi III.
Chemical Plant Zone to this day is my all time favorite sonic music track
yeah sounds awesome especially try out the remixes here on youtube
scir 91 i have only heard the rock remix and loved it
Green Hill zone
when sega made the compact version of genisis sonic 2 was bundled with it. as far as my favorite sega game...i loved general chaos.
Ecco only being an honorable mention is a sin.
They probably did that because of... Oh no. (Ecco screech) No, no, NO, NO!!! (Ecco screech) PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!!!
LOL

same with ri..
Shame on me, i dont get what people love about ecco, i didn't like it very much and i wish i did
Please do Top 10 Sega games/franchises!! :D
golden axe
Frickin' D&D for the Genesis! Love Golden Axe!
I wish Sega had put "Golden Axe II: The Revenge of Death Adder" from the Arcade to the Console.
It was an AWESOME sequel to the 1st Golden Axe.
Thank Goodness for M.A.M.E. though.
At 6:12 the guy yelling Sega with the helmet on was my auto shop teacher.
16-bit era of gaming was everything. SNES gets my pick over the Genesis, but that competiton was so bad ass. You had to be an early 90's kid to get it. Radical!
No robocop vs terminator?
I still remember when I was friggin mind blown when I played Aladdin
Earthworm JIm? NHL Hockey? Madden '92 ('94). Anyone else notice when it comes to best games they almost never mention a sports game. May wanna start playing them guys.
+Albert EinsteinJr earthworm jim was multi-platform
you're right. Forgot about that.
+Albert EinsteinJr
as much as i loved the sports games, they don't really count. unless it's a game like NBA jam where it's like cartoonish(not sure of the word i'm looking for). i adored NHL hockey!
Sal S Why wouldn't they count? The games I mentioned are classics. I repurchased them and they hold up very well.
Albert EinsteinJr
in my opinion, sports games are too repetitive to be mentioned. each and every sport has the exact same gameplay. you score in a net or you go for the touchdown or you hit a home run. now there are some unique features in some of them, but that doesn't make them any more special.
that's not to say they aren't great games though. i loved the NHLs, NBAs, maddens, and world series baseballs. but i wouldn't get all the versions back. i already have NBA live 96 that came with the genesis that i repurchased. and i will try to get only one of each other sports.
Not even honorable mention to Mega Bomberman? =(
I love that game, but almost nobody talks about it.... or even knows about it's existence. Outside of hardcore genesis heads that is.
Pretty damn good list, funny tho most of the honorable mentions would have made it on the actual list for me tho lol
As a Nintendo fan, I really love Sega! I am glad I know this company! They really make a lot of great games in the past!
(visible confusion)
Gunstar Heroes above Streets of Rage 2.
What drugs were you on while deciding this list?
None? Because they're both equally awesome games in different genres and both placed about as high on the list as they should've? :P
Gunstar Heroes is still an amazing game. I always liked Streets of Rage 1 better personally.
I just played through it for the first time, and I've played every game on this list. Gunstar Heroes is amazing, and by far one of the best co-op experiences on the system.
Daniel Gardecki James pond is one of my favourites but where is lion king
BigDaddyAEL1964 you've never played gunstar heroes have u?
HOLY YOU BROUGHT BACK MY MEMORY OF VECTOR MAN HOLY TYSM
Rocket Knight Adventures, Pitfall, Robocop vs Terminator, Light Crusader, Eternal Champions, Dynamite Headdy, Jurassic Park
Streets of Rage
Streets of Rage 2 (still excites me to this day)
Street of Rage 3
and Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
I remembered when I destroyed my cousin's Sega genesis AV cable back in the days, being from the caribbean it was hell to get one of those cable back.
Gunstar Heroes is in my opinion hands down the best run and gun, the best 16 bit game, and the best Genesis game of all time, and one of my favorite video games overall
As a diehard SNES fan I can truly say that the only game that the SEGA had that I wish was on SNES was "Mutant League Hockey".
The Genesis version of Aladdin was probably the best non Capcom Disney licensed game of the 8-16 bit eras
I never beat Comix Zone. I rented it back in the day when I was in the Air Force living in the dorms. Also used to rent Jack Nicklaus Golf a lot and a few others. Friday nights getting done work, renting a game, stopping at Hardees for a burger and fries then pouring a jack and coke and playing Sega Genesis. I still have my working original. I'm not as good of a gamer anymore but I'll beat you, Comix Zone.

Top 10 for me in no particular order: Sonic 2, Streets of Rage 2, Shinobi 3, Vectorman 2, Phantasy Star 2, Aladdin, Super Street Fighter 2, Mortal Kombat 3, Kid Chameleon, Comix Zone
Rise from your grave!
The fact that Shining Force II only made an honorable mention makes me sad. Shining Force and Shining Force II were not only the best Genesis games, but also among the best tactical RPGs ever made. Each game had a great plot, memorable villains, cool characters, and a large, immersive world.
My favs were Alex Kidd, Earthworm Jim, Sonic 2, Golden Axe and Gunstar Heros. Most were on this list
Where's Altered Beast?!!!
I'd add Alisia Dragoon to the list....and I have a soft spot for DR. Robotniks Mean Bean Machine
the good games you missed
lion king sega
pacman 2 sega
street fighter 2
YEP SONIC 2 #1 I KNEW IT THAT GAME IS AWESOME!!
I mostly remember playing it on the Sega Mega Drive but now i usually play it on Emulators
I just searched kega fusion thats what i use then download it then download any roms for it in.binary form
Back when sonic had good games.
+MLG 007 Gunstar Heroes is my pick for greatest run'n'gun of all time. It has superb graphics, very smooth control and gameplay, weapons that are done very well with all of them being useful, and it really pushes the limits of what a 16bit system can do. It also has a kick ass soundtrack that makes you want to destroy the endless hordes of robots you'll face, especially on expert mode.
Treasure, it's developer, was started by a group of people that broke away from Konami. The lead development team was actually the same team behind Contra. Konami has never been the same since.
if you can, get Thunder Force 3, its a side-scrolling space shooter, but its pretty good
I have one thing to say: Contrary to popular belief, Sonic _DID NOT_ invent the Spin Dash, it was actually Tails, who was introduced in Sonic 2.
