    Thanks for sharing your experience! There are a LOT more unexpected information that isn't covered by ICBC.

      Glad it was helpful! Yeah, ICBC can leave a little to be desired but in our experience, they're not any better or worse than other insurance companies we've dealt with.
      Good luck with your move. 😀

      It's worth the effort and sounds worse than it is. Switching provinces with a car is a pain in the butt regardless of which way you're going.

    What are the first 3 things I need to do/be prepared for though? This is very insightful, and I will be referencing this video many times before we move, but I'd love to know where I should actually start! Thank you so much!

      If I were to do it again, the first thing I'd do weeks or months before moving would be to get the bracket for my front license plate. That was more of a pain than I expected.
      Next, and assuming you're moving to BC in the next few months, I'd get snow tires for my car. Even if you're moving to a spot in BC where you don't need them, you'll travel through a part of the province where they're required by law.
      Lastly, I'd get a new windshield installed a few days prior to leaving for BC (if needed).
      If you're really ambitious, you could research which shop/garage will do your out-of-province inspection and book an appointment that coincides with your expected arrival.
      If your move to BC is in the next few days, I'd check road conditions to make sure the highway is open and safe for travel. Looks like the Coquihalla is out of service for the foreseeable future as are parts of Highway 1 in the Lower Mainland. Highway 3 might open in the days to come.
      Current crisis aside, BC is an amazing province. You'll love it here!

    Why did you move to BC? I'm an immigrant here and I wish I new all the crap BC residents have to deal with before settling in this province! I wish my family could handle the cold, because I would love to move to Alberta where people have more basic freedoms

    • @LiveontheSunshineCoast
      @LiveontheSunshineCoast  Рік тому

      Sorry to hear there's stuff to deal with in settling in as an immigrant. I don't know what parts would be easier in Alberta freedom wise.

    What if I have already pay insurance from Alberta for 1 year and I move to BC in the middle of the year. So I have to pay new insurance or just a little bit more money to previously paid insurance

    • @LiveontheSunshineCoast
      @LiveontheSunshineCoast  2 роки тому +1

      When we moved, we cancelled our Alberta insurance once we had BC insurance. Alberta insurance sent us a refund for the portion we didn't use.
      If you call ICBC, they'll be able to give you specific advice for your specific situation. They've always been very friendly whenever I've called with a question.

    Thanks very much for sharing the video. I own a total loss car and am thinking about moving to BC with my car. The car is running ok and has passed inspection process for registration in SGI in Saskatoon. Is the inspection process for a total loss car same as other cars or it differs?
    Thanks, in advance, for your reply.

      That I can't answer. Probably your best bet would be to contact ICBC directly to ask that question. Thanks for the comment and sorry I don't have a more knowledgeable answer.

    Thanks for sharing am planning to move bc from Calgary, but my car have some r kinda have some rust if I fix that before I move do you think it will pass the inspection?

    • @LiveontheSunshineCoast
      @LiveontheSunshineCoast  3 роки тому +2

      It's hard to say. The condition of the body and frame is a consideration but I think it'd be highly dependent on the specific vehicle. You could try calling or emailing a shop in BC and explaining your question like you did here. A mechanic that does these inspections is probably the best person to ask for a definitive answer. Sorry I'm not more help.

    I’ve been trying to find an answer to this online but haven’t had any luck, I have an Ontario DZ class license, equivalent to a BC class 3 with air brake endorsement. I haven’t been able to find out whether my license will transfer to the equivalent class or if I would need to regain my license class with additional schooling after moving to BC. Would appreciate any input

    • @LiveontheSunshineCoast
      @LiveontheSunshineCoast  Рік тому

      My class 4 from AB transferred over to BC. Paul's class 1 with air brake endorsement transferred over to BC. Check/call ICBC, they look after that in BC. 😀

    How does demerit points from ab effect in bc?

    • @LiveontheSunshineCoast
      @LiveontheSunshineCoast  2 роки тому

      I found this story in the Globe and Mail from 2018 but I don't know if it answers your question.
      Do traffic-ticket demerits count against me in other jurisdictions?: www.theglobeandmail.com/drive/mobility/article-i-got-a-traffic-ticket-in-bc-as-a-non-resident-can-those-follow-me-if/
      My advice for all things related to BC driver's licenses and vehicle insurance is to ask ICBC directly. They're the only ones that can provide a definitive answer to specific scenarios.

    B.C. stands for Bring Cash. And no that's not a joke. This province is a political and financial joke. Don't believe me, just Google any and all complaints about bc.

      I have heard this. And I've known many people who have moved in and back out of the province. I'm still very good with our choice of moving to BC from AB.
