      @@OCEANBOUND1 me too 😉 very keen to hear about the 75ML with the 680 (as that will translate to 85 and 780 at my weight)
      It would be great to see that compare vs the duotone midlengths. Not buying the hype from either brand until real world reviews are in

      @@wingfoilrentals right on! I should have an FOne ML coming in the next few weeks, I'm not sure what size they will be sending but I'm hoping something close to my 75L. I'll see if my wing dealer is thinking about getting any Duotone, that would be my deciding factor.

      sup bud! I'm using a read and blue shim for all my stabs. every time I dial it back I get annoyed with the drag.
      I'm putting my new HAs and the APFs at 10 in the mast track. the HS and the MA I would put at 8, so it's a little more forward. that's what's worked for me, I've done a ton of micro adjustments from sesh to sesh and still come back to 10 with a happy face.
      hope this helps! I wish you an awesome day!!

    Good video. Like the others I am quite interested in learning back pass tack. How much of the challenge was just getting used to waist leash vs wrist? Would love a video on your experience learning the back pass tack or just your tips having learned it. Also curious about the 85 ml. But just spent my money on 80fg at 93 kg. Primarily wing on 107 dw and love it for Alaska. Because I can’t count on the wind to always be consistent and do more slogging than I like. 80 is for storms here or travel to destinations with reliable wind like La ventana. Will you stop using fg?

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  18 днів тому +1

      sup bud! still learning! I tried like in an earlier session like 3 times, but this sesh I tried maybe 40-50 of them. so this is pretty much the first session. I ended up making over 50% of them, way more near the end for sure but I think I nailed my first 2 or 3 in a row. I haven't watched any how-to videos on them, so maybe I'm missing technique, but for me the most awkward part was grabbing the wing with the second hand and lifting it back up. you could definitely practice the pass on land to get some feel for it. but nothing beats actually doing it cause there's more going on in the maneuver than a regular tack and you just need to get used to it. getting used to the wing leash change wasn't that big of an issue, but sometimes it can get annoying cause I find the wing leash migrates under my knees when I'm getting back up. but I'm getting used to moving it out of the way every time. that is the worst of it, and I don't see any other issues, so it's not that bad.
      will I stop using the FG? probably. I bought the 75L so it could replace my v1 75L FG. I almost bought a v2 70 FG and then these ML's came out. It's cracked so many times and in different places, my new goal is to drill some holes in the back to try to let water out, I'm so curious if it's holding water or not. after that I may just plug it up and either pass it on to a new guy for like $200 or donate it to a community boating program. unless my son gets interest in the next few months. I'm not in a rush to get rid of it but the ML gets up to speed faster and I don't mind the extra length so that's gonna be my daily driver.
      thanks bud, I wish you an awesome day up in Alaska! fingers crossed I get to wing up there some day!

      @AkSeapilot 18 днів тому

      @@OCEANBOUND1 great job in your progression and thanks for the feedback and tips. I didn’t get past all the tangling because I’m so used to using wrist leash now. But I started on a waste leash so I’m sure I could get that figured out sooner or later. I had an interesting path in that it took me two years to get my first jibes. And first day on heel side tacks then figured out toe side. Then lost heel side on my bad side. The end game on the back pass would be just what you said. Someday tacking onto a wave or wake and surfing out of it. Inspired by your video. Let me know when u decide to come to Alaska. Skagway was 37 knots yesterday. All day at least 25-30.

      Yeah I was curious after seeing Julian’s in your last video, mine is obviously 20L more, which is significant, but I’m stoked and feel like i got the right size. If someone gave me a secind free one, id be stoked to pick up a 45 or 55 but as an all arounder it’s gonna be great. Stoked.
      And yeah the PPC is great. A little more heavy than you’d think but totally solid. Stoked to have it in the quiver for sure. It’s gonna get some use!

    I've never done a foiling tack and I'm sure you are doing your pass behind one as a personal challenge but somehow it looks more manageable to me?, maybe because of it's lower centre of gravity.

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  18 днів тому +1

      It’s hard to tell, to me the regular tack when you push the wing forward and upwind of you seems easier. Maybe cause you see the wing the whole time? That said, I started nailing these on day one but I did already know how to tack. But tacking took me like 1000+ tries. So regular tacking seems easier but maybe I should have started with these! lmk if you start trying these first and they come easy! Thanks bud, I wish you an awesome day!
