Peace to you too brother!✌that is too neat they are all buried together. I had no idea about that. I guess someone's wishes were to be there with the Allman brothers band. With their ashes. Well, I certainly dont see anything wrong with that. That's cool. Thank you for the video of their resting place. I grew up listening to them, and even now in adulthood. Always loved them, and still do.❤❤❤❤❤❤

Hello there, this is the Highway Ghost speaking. I wanted to say hello and thanks for your kind words and for enjoying my video. I've been a big fan of the Allman Brothers Band forever and enjoy their music greatly. If you're interested in more videos, I have another video about the ABB in my Famous Music Locations playlist. It's a tour from the Allman Brothers Big House Museum in Macon, GA. It's Berry Oakley's old place where they all crashed and hung out while off the road. Cool place and I think you'd enjoy the museum's memorabilia there. Join the ride for updates on all my strange travels. Peace too and stay cool cat. HG

I was in Macon just after Gregg's funeral and his grave site was across a path & set of steps that has since been removed in the remodel. Looks like the family even moved him closer to Duane.
Glad to see Butch there too ...and yes, he sadly took his own life - truly tragic the way it happened.

Hello there, this is the Highway Ghost speaking. I can remember the old brick stairs and how the original burial once looked and to see it this way was a totally different spot than the old days, but I liked how they put the brothers together forever. I still have some old footage from that era that I need to upload here some day. Sad, but a great thing for them to rest side and side like on stage. Wow! What true rock and roll legends. If you're interested I have a video from their Big House Museum in Macon, GA in my famous music locations playlist and one from Little Martha's grave. I tell a interesting story in the video. I plan on doing more similar videos and if you'd like then you're welcome to subscribe for updates on all my strange travels. Thanks for watching. HG

That was all Gregg's doing, planned well before he died. He got the property from Candice, horribly long story, and was able to fix what was going on there.
As of now, per Gregg's wishes, anyone on Fillmore East has a spot there.... 2 are already buried elsewhere (Red Dog and Twiggs).
I am from Macon...live next door to a docent of the Big House...

Hello there, Highway Ghost speaking. Thanks for checking out the video and for the interesting comment. Birds have a long association with death, be it the crow or raven that's believed by the ancient ones to be messengers of death and are often seen hanging out in cemeteries and graveyards, hunting worms and hanging out with the dead or if a bird flies into your home then someone's going to die soon. Also, owls are bringers of the death omen, for seeing one in the day time means someone close will soon die, so I totally understand what you're saying. I've seen these strange omens happen time and time again and so I truly believe they have a spiritual attachment to death. I love this band very much and have been there many times to visit the graves. I also did a full tour of their previous home now called The Big House Museum, located in Macon, GA, if you'd like to check that one out. I tell an interesting story about a dream I had before doing the inside tour. Plus, I did a video at Little Martha's grave where it's believed she influenced the name for their song. I have a whole famous music locations playlist and much more to check out. New footage, old 8mm footage and all kinds of stuff. If you like, then join the ride and subscribe for updates on all my latest strange travels. Thanks for watching. HG

When I was new at getting of booze it was about 2, 3 in the morning and I couldn't sleep I went out in the livingroom and screamed out the door, "IF YOU'RE FUCKING THERE PROVE IT!" Mockingbirds starting singing almost instantly. I haven't drank in over 18 years. THERE IS HOPE

Terrible what people do. Be respectful is right! I was there a few weeks ago. Down the hill from the band's graves is Elizabeth Napier Reed's grave. We also saw Little Martha's grave, plus Bond Tomb, where the back photo of the first album was taken. Behind that are the railroad tracks and the river behind the tracks, though the inside cover of the band naked wasn't taken at that spot. We then went to the H&H for lunch and The Big House Museum, where we spent many hours. The next morning we did a tour of Capricorn Studios (Fridays and Saturdays at 10). Not to be missed! We went back to the H&H for lunch again. I got to sit in Mama Louise's chair, which was a great honor. The manager gave my wife a small double mushroom figurine she asked about buying. We also saw the spot the front album cover of At Fillmore East was photographed. We ended by visiting Kirk West's gallery and I got a photo with Kirsten West, another honor. You owe it to yourself to do all these things. Of course, always eat a peach for peace!

Hello there, Highway Ghost speaking. Thanks for checking out the video and for the cool and informative comment. I love hearing about how music has helped folks lives and how we as fans walk in their paths long after they're gone from this earth, but live on in our hearts and little ears through their music. I plan to do this same journey maybe this summer hopefully. This legendary band will never be forgotten for sure. I did a video at the Big House Museum and I tell an interesting story at the beginning about a dream I had long before going there and it turned out very strange to say the least. It was rumored that Duane Allman had a dream about meeting Jimi Hendrix in a bathroom and he showed him some cords and later Duane recorded the song and named it ''Little Martha" which was named after the girl's grave they visited in Rose Hill Cemetery. At least that's the legend. Always know you're welcome to join the ride and subscribe for the road goes on forever here at the Highway Ghost and there's always something cool to watch. Peace.... HG

The brevity of life ,one out of every one of us must go on that journey of death to the body. It's sad when you think of the limited time we have and all the experiences we have and have to endure. I pray that is something that goes on with the spirit! I lost my wife, brother, dad and best friend all in the same year, 22 years ago. I bought a Harley, lots of jack Daniels and lots of illegal skiing material, lost my mind and woke up in prison. Been sober 16 years now and miss all of them. Trust me when I say I have some bad days. But I deal with it and now know what also awaits me. Hello there, Highway Ghost speaking. Thanks for checking out the channel and for the comment. I thought the same thing about the bird singing. This was a strange day for sure. Shortly after this experience I was leaving the cemetery and spotted a little bird struggling to pull a small blacksnake from out of a crack inside the wall in the cemetery and I stopped to film it, but the bird flew and the snake got away. It was symbolic like even the serpents of the Earth struggle and the little bird who could fly somewhere else chose to stay and fight. In most cases, cremated remains are odourless. They may have a slightly metallic odour or some people say they smell somewhat like incense in some cases.

    • @HighwayGhost
      @HighwayGhost  8 місяців тому

This was human ashes, there's specks of bone fragments in the cremains and across the ground. And besides, what else would it be, cookie and donut dust from a Buc-ee's bag? The smell of burning hair and sulfur were strong when the wind hit. I've smelled this same odor while inside an underground tomb built beneath a massive cemetery I explored once. Corpses never have a good odor, no matter what form they're in. Whoever told you they smell like incense has never smelled true death. Besides, the Allman Bros. graves are so famous and have had so much bizarre activity the fence went up years ago to protect their resting places. This is the newest remodel to the graves since Gregg and Butch died. Sad they're almost all gone.

Hello there, Highway Ghost speaking. Thanks for checking out the video and for commenting. It's sad the entire band is almost gone these days. About the cremains, the scent was of burnt hair and heated bone like getting your teeth drilled at a dentist, so it was very "human" scented and not of rot. I've smelled this in other locations with human ashes. The small bone fragments were also mixed in with the dust. I even took a very close look at them and you could see the growth lines aka Harris lines within the fragments. I've studied funeral customs, as well as human anatomy and been around a lot of death in my time and I have to say that I'm very certain that this was human cremains. Besides, what else would it be? Hello there, Highway Ghost speaking. Thanks for checking out the video and for commenting. About the cremains being there, I truly don't think there was any real environmental concerns, considering that people are scattered in the ocean and rivers all across the world, as well as in memorial ponds at various cemeteries. Plus, I never see any staff during several visits there. There's even large sections of the cemetery that looks as if it's not been trimmed in months, so I just documented it and went on down the road to the next destination. It was odd to say the least, but this type of stuff must happen, especially when you're as famous as these guys. I just wish people would respect graves, for that's someone's loved ones resting place. New footage coming soon, tons of stuff already on there and on occasion I upload an old 8mm film video from my days of being a kid with a camcorder riding the roads. Always something to see here. Thanks so much and send your friends to see the Highway Ghost..... "The road goes on forever. I'm not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider"..... ABB

Maybe those are the ashes of "Sweet Sally", you know who was "around for 3 long days, looking like she/you're dying". She just couldn't get over Gregg then and after she died now she is in the grass, on the fence, on the sidewalk still looking unkempt. Or maybe the ashes were from just another rider, just another fool, too far from home.

Hello there, Highway Ghost speaking. Just saying thanks for taking the time to check out the channel and for the comments. It was kind of sad seeing the ashes and they had been there for a minute, because they looked rained on and damp. There was a kitchen knife on the ground, beer cans and shooter bottles in a ashtray and someone had left a fully packed glass bowl for the stoners. Crazy what you see at rock star graves. Grew up in Macon, and used to go through cemetary every once in a while. Would go by these graves and often would find odd things laid on the graves, back when they were out in open. Well one day we stumbled across a couple having what appeared to be sex on Duane's grave. We did not stay and watch.

I've heard the stories and saw the tall fences, so I totally believe ya on that one.

@@HighwayGhost Berry Oakley's sister put up the 1st fencing and would occasionally stand watch before they were installed. The city didn't approve those and it was a contentious battle.

How would those human remains get there looks like someone had scattered the urn of remains of a person

Hello there, Highway Ghost speaking. I wanted to say hello and thanks for checking out the video. As far as I could tell the cremains were tossed through the fence as an attempt to scatter them onto Duane Allmans grave, but they failed miserably. If it was close friends or family then the cemetery staff would've allowed them to spread the ashes where they needed and would've unlocked the gate for them. It must've been some random person that had to fulfill someone's wishes no matter what. The reason the fence is there in the first place is the amount of late-night parties and unusual events that have taken place there since Duane was buried. Sad that you're so famous that this type of stuff happens. On a lighter note check out my video from the Allman Brothers Big House Museum in Macon, GA located in my Famous Music Locations playlist, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Nothing's more strange than walking in someone's ashes at a rock stars grave. My life does actually surprise me sometimes, but either way the road goes on forever.

That's kind of disrespectful to sloppily dump someones ashes on the fence like that - at least reach in and dump them on the grass!

Hello there, Highway Ghost speaking. Thanks for checking out the channel and for sharing a comment. I thought the same thing and it smelled pretty rank when the wind hit just right. Somebody did a really poor job of trying to have their ashes near the deceased people in this band. I'm sure the cemetery people went and vacuumed up the remains. They may have ben thrown elsewhere, maybe into the trash. Maybe the police were notified. If you were going to do something like this, this is NOT the way to do it. Maybe, put the remains in a small container and scatter them with a cup. Still, if they are white and looking like limestone, people are going to notice. The result would be the same. And how sad is it that people are so deluded to where they would scatter their ashes near the graves of rock stars. Jeez, I hope these people were at least close friends, maybe an ex wife who had died. What sort of imbecile thinks they can get away with something like this. Those ashes were surely cleaned up QUICKLY and who knows what was done with them. Now those ashes are mixed with soil and are in another container and perhaps in a cabinet of the cemetery property. This is so dumb, kind of like killing yourself over some love interest who cheated on you. Would you kill yourself over a person who rejected you, or someone who didn't love you and went on to cheat on you? Maybe someone was drunk or high when they scattered these ashes.
