Did you know that only a few inches under your feet lives a 4 inch long creature with the tail of a shrimp and the head of a fiddler crab? If not, you're in good company. I didn't know it either but it turns out they are there. And what is more important is that they make great bait... that is, if you can keep them on the hook. Today, we go seeking the elusive yabby, aka ghost shrimp, right here on Oak Island.

Dude, I had no idea ghost shrimp could be found up here. I've been watching a lot of videos of folks down in the Alabama/Florida coast using these things and never thought they were here in NC as well. Learn something new everyday. Thanks Sands!

Thanks for the videos. We travel to Holden Beach every year and my father in law and I love to fish there. Is there much difference in fishing at Holden beach vs oak island?
There are a lot of similarities since they are next to each other. Both south facing, both relatively flat, so pretty similar
Where did you buy your pump? The on line prices i see are ridiculous. Im headin your way I a couple of weeks.
I got mine on Amazon for about $28. But I just took a quick look and didn’t see any listed. However there seemed to be some listed on EBay.
I want to start surf casting on OI. Never have before. What supplies do you recommend to get started along with rig setups? My house is at SE 43rd access.

Yes that is true though I believe, from what I’ve read, they also use that word for ghost shrimp. But then again, I’ve never been to Australia:)
