Seed oils: sunflower oil, rapseed oil, vegetable oil, grapeseed, all rancid. In my local supermarket I noticed that a lot of processed snacks contain them, chocolate bars, biscuits 🍪 potato chips 🍟 oat milks, and even some processed precooked food
same here when I was looking around at items, felt like every single thing had those car oils in them, but it makes shopping much simpler so its a win win
Honestly!!! Seed oils are in everything! I never read labels too much until I got really sick a couple of months ago, and I began listening to all the stuff being revealed by Dr. Berg on the seed oils. I thought, "it can't be that bad" but it is. I've eaten this stuff for over fifty years and have never been taught about this not even in nutrition classes. @genevievebarker943 cast-iron pans are definitely safer than non-stick chemical laden pans. I wouldn't be concerned about iron uptake from such a pan. Le Creuset is a well-known manufacturer, their products are safe.
you're recommending an air fryer. While I agree that they work great, most of them have anti-stick coatings that are PFAS. If you buy one make sure to get one with a ceramic coating.
If anyone thinks non-stick is healthy, I recommend a documentary, “The Devil We Know.” A warning I gathered from it was to avoid anything non-stick with an “F” in it. I went home and returned some loaf pans I had just purchased with PFOS in them.
I got the Emirl Lagassi air fryer with the drop down drawer and rotisserie and it's all metal with a stainless steel basket. It's been working great for two years now.
I switched to cooking w/lard 4 years ago & never looked back. Buy it by the slab in a Mexican Grocery Store packaged as is the fresh meat, it probably won't be in the refrigerated case- but close by. I say this because the container sold lard, like Farmer John's little white bucket has hydrogenated oils in it, the slabbed lard in the stores wrapping does not.
Fill a Ball Glass Jar with "seed oil". Poke a hole, the size of a straw, in the middle of the metal top. Insert a length to the bottom of (unwaxed) clothesline or rope mope. You have a candle that will burn for days during power outage emergency.

My young adults are cooking for themselves now, following youtube videos and buy the unhealthy seed oils (because i dont have those in the house) 🙁 The education continues..Thank you, Doc. I'm sharing this video with them and hopefully they follow your advice.
I quit using corn oil and now use pork fat to cook and olive oil on salads. I also quit using margarine years ago and went back to butter. I popped some microwave popcorn that was plain and added some melted margarine to add some flavor and taste. The margarine completely dissolved all of the popcorn is a minute. that was years ago and that convinced me to stop using margarine.
Thank you so much Dr. Berg. You are getting the word out and it is evident that you care so much. Your passion to educate us for the better is so apparent and truly appreciated. I thank God for you. Have a beautiful day.🙏💕
I try to stay away from things that I thought were bad for me but still did not have the best results from my blood tests yearly. I now realize that its not necessarily the foods but the ingredients in them. I've learned so much from you thank you!
Lard I've found in the grocery store is hydrogenated. I started rendering my own. Lard also makes a delicious homemade mayo. Of course I more often lean toward making mayo with olive oil.
I am doing the same thing. I roast a chicken. Save the carcass and then pressure cook it the next day for the bone broth. Refrigerate, and then scoop out the fat that congeals at the top of the broth. It tastes amazing! The bone broth is rich in natural collagen too. My elderly dogs act like puppies running around! Helps with arthritis.
@@slickrick5596 Yes, hydrogenated lard is considered bad for you, primarily because it contains trans fats, which are created during the hydrogenation process and have been linked to increased risk of heart disease by raising "bad" LDL cholesterol and lowering "good" HDL cholesterol levels; therefore, it's best to limit your intake of hydrogenated lard.

It’s so shocking once you start reading ingredients how much oil is snuck into everything! Here in the U.K. you can hardly buy anything without seeing rapeseed oil on the back (of course raw ingredients yes, but I mean bread, sauces, pre sliced chicken etc)! All those pre-made shelf sandwiches that a lot of people here buy for lunch are just loaded with oils and sugar and emulsifiers. I try and make sure I bring my own lunch to work because honestly it’s hard to buy a lunch that isn’t loaded with so much rubbish.
Agreed, also having so often heard DB talking about Cottonseed oil I thought such poisons were limited to The US et al, sadly I saw it on a box in UK supermarkets.
Thank you. I am spreading this link to everyone I know. It's hard to avoid when your employer feeds you for free (but I am requesting they experiment with avocado oil over grapeseed).
My husbands grandmother told us we could use vegetable spray as wd40. I didn’t have any of it. But I’ve told many customers about using it on their windows and doors. Without realizing I haven’t had a vegetable oil in the pantry for about 12 years!🎉
I got bad bad news for you guys. I've been in the restaurant industry for over 20 years now. I was even a chef for many fine dining restaurants in the city. We will use the cheapest oil to cook your food because it saves us MONEY. It's about the money, we don't care about your health and we know you won't either. It's not only oil, but a lot of the ingredients we use will be cheap ingredients. Don't expect high-quality ingredients. The final product tastes good regardless.
I’m a chef I went to culinary school- cooked all the finest restaurants. Retired, I don’t use highly processed oils, don’t eat grain. gave up nasty stuff like tobacco and alcohol good grief there’s a lot of poisons out there! Use beef fat or butter to cook . Clarified butter to sauté know as ghee, use whole butter or garlic butter to finish a pan sauces
Back in the 1970's, McDonald's used 100% beef tallow to cook their fries. That's why they had such an amazing and addictive flavor. Now they use whatever seed oil is in fashion this week. Now they taste like nothing special, they are just a space filler for a stomach that feels empty even though it's not. Our stomachs feel empty because all the "food" we put in them has the correct nutrient balance for cancer, parasites, and bad bacteria, but not for our bodies healthy cells (mitochondria). Our body stores the excess, hard to process calories as a type of stubborn fat that it will only use as a last resort. It's analogous to filling your house with broken clutter. You may not want to throw away that lamp or that fan, but if you really really need it someday and you can't find a good one then you can use the cord from the lamp to fix the fan, or the switch from the fan to fix the lamp. Otherwise it will just add to the pile of clutter just like bad fats add to the pile of fat that is difficult for your body to utilize for energy.
I still keep a bottle of vegetable oil under the sink. It is handy, I use it to lubricate the door hinges and my squeaky office char. It works great for that. I cook mostly in Lard/Bacon Grease, Ghee, Tallow, Rendered Duck Fat, and butter. I also make my own Mayo with Avocado Oil, it is so much cheaper to make and it is so easy to make it. I don't cook with Avocado oil though.

Thank you for teaching and telling us it a lot. I hear that the vegetable oils (plant seed oils) have been contributing as myriad chronic disease conditions of every sort have sprung up out of nowhere to become the leading causes of disease, suffering, and demise in the world.
I scanned my foods in the house and I was surprised that a majority of my foods were 1's and 2's I had a few 7's but I switched to that same style of mayo years ago after I first learned about the seed oils from you and I've never looked back.
I've been using refined and unrefined sunflower oil from Estern Europe (Russia/Ukraine) for decades: great taste, high quality, decent oleic and linoleic acids. I personally don't see any harm with sunflower oil IF used in Moderation. Off record, I am a healthy 60+, no chronic issues, BP 115/65, normal CRP and uric acid levels, TG 85, HgbA1C 5.2.
The problem with the sunflower oil from a store is the processing: high heat and chemical extraction. Cold processing yields useful oil, but it needs to be used within a month or two to prevent rancidity. I'm planning to grow my own sunflowers, and cold press my own oil. No chemicals, and I'll just process in small batches as needed, so no rancidity!
I ordered the book, "Dark Calories" great book. You don't have to read it from front to back, you can skip around, and she has charts. I LOVE this book and I'm spreading the word. Same here, I was getting headaches everyday I started with eating out less and saw a dramatic change...next is eating no dinner.. only 1 meal a day...❤❤❤
A good cook will never use vegetable or olive oil to bake and fry food. Olive oil is a salad oil. Good cooks use arachide or ghee to bake or fry,... They may add olive oil for the taste and of course butter. Butter, the nice butter who has only one ingredient. Olive oil can't stand high temperature.
@@kristinepauwels4086You are right about olive oil’s low smoke point but the much bigger issue is the fact that it can be cut with seed oils in the US and they don’t have to disclose that. Consumer Reports covered it.

Here in eastern Europe the refined sunflower oil is like a tradition, it is everywhere, people cook with it 90% of the time. Another thing here is having bread with every single meal. It is like the base. And they wonder why there are so many chronic illnesses...

Ha! Another banger. This is exactly why I stopped going out to eat, the #1 reason. #2 reason would be the prices for the poison you're about to consume. They're literally overcharging on everything. If I'm going to overpay for anything, it's going to be fatty, red meat. #3 would be the cooks and chefs who truly don't care about their job and do not prepare meals well in your average restaurant. #4 would be sanitation issues. It's simply higher quality, and much cleaner of a food to cook a ribeye steak at home, with salt. No chemicals, no oils, no over priced high-carb appetizers (mostly fried), no overcharged drinks, no dirty tap water (yes we bring water testers to restaurants, most are filthy), etc. Just steak, salt, water, and happiness. We are human. I'm pretty convinced by now that we didn't evolve such huge brains for agriculture, as it was more for killing and eating beast meat over most of our history. Once the beasts disappeared 11,000 years ago or so, we had to invent agriculture to still have enough "beast meat" for everyone, as the population was growing. And they say that foraging was much more nutritious before agriculture and still is, as most agricultural foods will lack in high nutrition if they are grown improperly or with cheap chemicals, fertilizers, etc.. Okay I'll stop. lol Great vid! I love when he hammers the absolute ever-loving cripe out of seed oils! Go Dr Berg!
I’ve been using only butter for the last 50 years and using only olive oil for the last 35 yers. I’m 70. I’m pretty healthy so it seems to be the way to go 👍🏻 I recently began occasionally using coconut oil, but it tends to have a slightly sweet taste. Dr. Berg has some great advice.
I’d still love to hear more on nuts (phytase). I appreciate your advice on sunflower seeds (B1), those with pumpkin seeds (zinc) are back in my diet and my breathing has improved under your keto regiment! Omitting nuts is a big mistake, they’re filling and well as a brain food and definitely a missing link to clarity and functioning! I will continue to avoid seed oils though. That is great advice! Thank you, always!
@@moedervanbranko409 Because of the industrial process that the sunflower seeds go trough in getting the oil and the additives/preservatives etc that go along.
A very high percentage of imported olive oils are "cut" with cheaper oils like canola. I only purchase olive oils that have the stamp of the North American Olive Oil Association (NAOOA) on the label. NAOOA regularly pulls olive oils off store shelves at random and tests them for adulteration. Those that pass their testing gets their stamp of approval, which is a round stamp with a red background and an olive on a branch in the middle. If I don't see that stamp I don't buy the oil.
@DoubleDogDare54 You are right, that's why I deal with an Italian bakery that deals with their own olive farm and sells their own oil to the public, it's wonderful, nothing to worry about!
Believe it or not even the experts can't tell the difference between the real stuff and the junk today. There just aren't enough olive trees in the world.
Am I the only one who has never cooked with vegetable oil? I know it’s kind of hard to avoid when eating out, but at home, I’ve never needed it. I always cook with olive oil. The only time I used vegetable oil was for boxed baked goods. I’m not saying I’m proud of it, but that’s when I used it. Now, I replace it with applesauce or coconut oil.
The most difficult challenge would be not going to restaurants or trying to find something 'safe' on a menu; home cooking changes are a breeze once you change your grocery -buying protocol..
I would also avoid foods altogether that aren't organic like the Chosen mayo in this video. You may be avoiding seed oils but you're still eating food that has been likely sprayed with a ton of pesticides and is still poisonous. Not to mention, the eggs aren't organic and come from chickens that were likely fed foods with seed oils and other foods sprayed with pesticides like non organic corn which is one of the most sprayed crops. You have to be really careful what you eat these days if you don't want to be poisoned.

Make your own mayo at home with a stick blender. An egg, olive or avocado oil, salt, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, pepper. Beat it with the stick blender for a minute or two and you have mayo that is actually good for you.
Absolutely, then I make that into home made ranch❤❤
I made the tomato mayo in Dr. Bergs's recipe book for the deviled egg recipe, and WoW; it was really good. Im sure I can omit the tomato.
Or you could use melted butter or melted tallow if you blender can handle it 😆
How long can you keep it In the refrigerator?

Stopped using the poison over 20yrs ago. Changed to coconut oil/Butter/tallow/olive oil.
Olive Oil has a low smoke point - best to cook with Tallow.
@@blaze1148 yes up to 325° degrees fahrenheit so cook on low. Coconut oil at 350° fahrenheit and macadamia nut oil is better at 400° fahrenheit. Avocado oil can be heated up to 500° fahrenheit. Tallow and ghee are great for their high smoke point.
@@blaze1148 I love cooking my eggs with olive oil though I love the flavor. It is ok with low heat cooking ☺
coconut oil is only the least bad from plant oils, but still not as good as animal fats, so there is no point
@@blaze1148 , agreed. I use olive oil sparingly when I run out of tallow.
Explained so anyone can understand it. Problem is the vast majority hasn't had the awakening yet and continues to harm themselves. God Bless you Dr. Berg - keep up the good fight!
This is unrelated to seed oil topic but last night In the middle of all the prolific Big Pharma ads on TV there appeared and ad for Magnesium Glycinate touting it's benefits! I was surprised and encouraged.
Dr. Berg's messages have change how I live! Much thanks!
So true. I STOPPED EATING seed oils and eating out 7 yrs ago! Can really tell a difference in my health and skin! Used to eat out everyday! Also started eating clean keto! My visceral fat around stomach is gone!!! Thought I had a tumor in my stomach but it was " greed". Gluttony!!!
Also corn oil, safflower oil, peanut oil, canola oil (which is another name for rapeseed oil).
same here when I was looking around at items, felt like every single thing had those car oils in them, but it makes shopping much simpler so its a win win
Weight control was always about appearance not health. I am just devastated that nobody told me sooner and that I am finding this stuff out for myself now when it may be too late to reverse the damage.

I'm cooking with beef lard, it tastes amazing. Also use a cast iron pan. Meat tastes way better cooked this way.
Great tip! thank you.
Just be aware of the amount of iron in food cooked in cast iron.
@genevievebarker943 cast-iron pans are definitely safer than non-stick chemical laden pans. I wouldn't be concerned about iron uptake from such a pan. Le Creuset is a well-known manufacturer, their products are safe.
@@iot577stainless steel then?
@flch95 cast iron or stainless steel cookware is safer than Teflon coated non stick cookware.
you're recommending an air fryer. While I agree that they work great, most of them have anti-stick coatings that are PFAS. If you buy one make sure to get one with a ceramic coating.
read the comment from @deborah0357
If anyone thinks non-stick is healthy, I recommend a documentary, “The Devil We Know.” A warning I gathered from it was to avoid anything non-stick with an “F” in it. I went home and returned some loaf pans I had just purchased with PFOS in them.
@@HoogendijkRemco Or you can get one that is 100 percent stainless steel as well.

Don't forget the metal bottle cap
thats why i have 1 bottle of canola, for a gas lamp in a black out
What about the fumes this oil produces, istnt that toxic!?

I quit using corn oil and now use pork fat to cook and olive oil on salads. I also quit using margarine years ago and went back to butter. I popped some microwave popcorn that was plain and added some melted margarine to add some flavor and taste. The margarine completely dissolved all of the popcorn is a minute. that was years ago and that convinced me to stop using margarine.
Hot butter will do the same to the popcorn though

@@cherisejanellwhy is hdrogenated bad?

Yes. Excellent.

I rarely eat in restaurants and I do not want their food either. I prefer supermarket food.

Great. Did you use my new app?
Still way too high in omega 6.
I ordered the book, "Dark Calories" great book. You don't have to read it from front to back, you can skip around, and she has charts. I LOVE this book and I'm spreading the word. They had to order it for me at the Book Store and two of the ladies were just too interested (that worked at the bookstore) and when I picked it up, we had a nice "loud" conversation over the American Heart Association.
I used to eat out a lot. No more. All but the finest restaurants cut their olive oil with bad oil.

Dr. Berg, I hear you talk about air fryers at the end of this video. Can you (if you haven’t already) talk about Teflon coating on products like that?
Yes, please repeat this request of yours.

Why is it ok to eatthe sunflower seeds but not use the sunflower oil?🌀
@@moedervanbranko409 Because of the industrial process that the sunflower seeds go trough in getting the oil and the additives/preservatives etc that go along.
Wow
Thank you for the pure ' unsaturated ' truth!
My olive oil comes from Italy, first cold pressed extra virgin olive oil.I also like olive oil from Greece and Spain.

👍
The vitamin e in olive oil is heat sensitive…
Agreed.
Sad but so true.
13 months of not using any kind of vegetable oil (except when going to restaurants, which I've been doing less frequently) and I can see big benefits.
