  • In this video, I share my experiences from the recently concluded Handgun Nationals in New Zealand. 3 days of shooting fun and exhilarating 19 stages.
I was using Tanfo Extreme Stock 2, a firearm I've had for less than a month, turned out to be a challenging decision before such a significant match. Additionally, my choice of factory ammo with a higher power factor (140PF) than the required 125PF added some recoil management difficulties.
Competing against the top shooters in NZ for production optics, including my friend Heaton with 7 National Champion titles, presented a tough challenge. Here's a breakdown of each day:
First Day: I was pushing hard and I made a few mistakes, especially on the challenging 32-rounder stage, resulting in a 5th or 6th overall ranking for the day.
Second Day: Learning from the first day, I decided to slow down, focusing on precise aiming rather than rapid target engagement. This adjustment led to improvements, securing a 3rd place ranking on the second day.
Third Day: With only three stages remaining, including a 32-rounder and two smaller stages, I encountered challenges, particularly picking up an additional penalty on the swinger. Reflecting on decisions made during the match, I acknowledged areas for improvement. Despite this, the last two stages were executed well.
Overall, the competition provided valuable lessons that will shape my approach in future events. Continuous learning and refining of skills remain a priority. My plan is to stick with the Tanfo and fine-tune my setup, possibly exploring the use of 147 gr projectiles for flatter trajectories.
Please enjoy the video, and I look forward to seeing you at the next competition!
