    Got my Gigabyte 7800xt back in december, undervolted it and power usage is around 210w max with minimal performance dips. This GPU is really good especially in 1440p, it can play almost everything with high fps ( at least to the games I played)

    I'm thinking about putting this in my first PC with a 7600x cpu. the 4070 is at least 100+ more in my country and my build is already around 2000 so I am doing some research seeing if its the right choice in this price range.

    Hey there i just got this card a week ago and im just wondering, does running a 850 watts power supply enough for this while playing triple a games on ultra 1440p settings like rdr2, cyberpunk 2077 and other triple a titles? I notice its also running at 277w TBP while playing games to max of 280 from time to time but it lingers mostly under that. I have a dual monitor setup a 1440p(165hz) and a 1080 (165hz). My temps stay at 50-60 with the hotspot lingering between 80-85. At full max usage, is this normal? Should i be worried? Im new to amd and a computer noob. I dont want to touch the undervolting /oc method in adrenaline bec im scared that i might ruin this 600$ gpu i need advice

    Note: 7800XT low TDP is ±191W (-10%). Based TDP is 212W (0%). Max TDP 244W
    Anything higher than that will be power limit to 0% and more. Or models with higher TDP. Many dumb peopel confused TDP and PPT. With Hwininfo 64 you can see your actual TDP and PPT.
    For exemple XFX Qick 319 have kinda the same specs as the reference cards on paper and his highest PPT is ±293W. Does the card gonna consume nearly 300W ? No. Can the graphics consume 300W ? Yes. Will it be for a very small time ? Yes. (Will usually be either transient spike or load for less than 10 min max)
    One tips for anyone who bought the 7800XT. Tune the fan curve. For some reason. Most 7800XT (ASRock Phantom Gaming, Sapphire Nitro+ and Reference card excluded since they either have the highest current and TDP, or have a bery nad cooling) run super cool. But the fan curve is super aggressive leading to loud GPU. If you have a nice airflow. 25% to 55% shoud be more than enough to keep your cool/in safe hotspot temps.
    7800XT tend to be underclocked. AMD card clock higher with less voltage and more wattage.
    You can (for safe 24h/24h and 7d/7d) usually set voltage 1100mV. Clock 2738MHz. And memory clock 2568MHz.
    You will mostly benefits from the faster memory. On models with higher TDP. The memory clock and GPU clock can be near 2,8GHz clock and 2,6GHz mem clock.
    Your welcome. (Also with this settings you will have 4070 super raster performance and 4070 ray tracing performance)

      If it is the 4070 Super, for only 60€ more, then take that. The old 4070, only if it’s cheaper or equal price to the 7800xt
      the 7800xt is currently a v good value, because the other cards get soo much more expensive for not a lot more fps. You you don’t always need high fps.

    I saw a comparison of 7900 gre vs 4070 super and nvidia was 20% faster on 1440p in HD2 although they were about the same at 1080p. Some games just seem to be nvidia favored while others are better on AMD

      Yeah, different games and different settings will have different results. Gone are the days wherein people would only rely on a single benchmark and assume that will be the same for everything else. 👍

    • @NGreedia
      @NGreedia 2 місяці тому +1

      @@OverseerPC-Hardwareyup. I recently replaced my 3060 with this card, and I noticed a huge improvement. It’s roughly twice as fast. My 3060 couldn’t even handle 1080p in HD2 without fps dropping to 15-20 so either the game is that much more demanding, or it’s not a well optimized engine on lower tier cards. I would have considered a 4070, but it’s at least 20% more expensive in my area, and I usually prioritize price to raw performance, and then cram. Feature sets and power consumption are nice to have, but not as high on my priority list. I don’t have high hopes of “next gen” giving us improvement in price to performance sadly 😔

    • @OverseerPC-Hardware
      @OverseerPC-Hardware  2 місяці тому

      I guess we'll wait and see how things go next gen. Apparently, AMD wouldn't be fighting on the top end. Let's just hope they do the right thing and price it competitively (not base it off Nvidia's pricing)

      @rasluffi so far, I'm enjoying it. I've had maybe one driver issue, and I'm relating that more to a Windows 11 "upgrade" an not my gpu. Also, the ray tracing is better than I'd heard, granted im going from a first gen rt nvida card to a 2nd gen rt amd card so one would still expect improvement. Definitely a lot more power. So far love it
