    If the color up is fine efficiently, it only takes a couple minutes and can be done with a very short pause in the tournament.

    If there ıs only one player wıth 2 or 3, say 25 chıps, he shall get a 100 dırectly? Sınce no one has odd chıps and shall not race.
    If yes, what ıf he has 1 25 chıp, wıll ıt be taken away wıth no reımbursement (do note that ıt ıs not hıs only chıp, he was hıs stack of other chıps)
    Thank you kındly.

    "Ultimately by the time,
    the players brake arrives you would have all the chips sold to the dealer when is color up time."
    What that means, i didnt understood that as well ?I mean how i know what is time when i acctualy starting to
    color up chips?
    Are the player breaks usually in compliance with this Color up procedure
    and does it have any time rule or it is starts when the smallest chip is no longer useful as a betting tool?I mean Hand after 150/300
    where we dont use 50chip more ,..is it the time when we start collecting 50 to table captian?

    I'm a little confused -- at 19:30 I counted along up to 3500. The remaining green chips come out for 3600, 3700, 3800, and one final green chip is called 3900. Then, the narration states "4000" but two black chips are placed, then a final yellow 1000 and it's called 5000 total. However, there's actually 5025 in chips on the table, which is exchanged for the single 5000 chip.
    Did the captain lose 25 in this transaction? If the odd greens are rounded up, shouldn't only 1 black have been collected?

    • @erickrox
      @erickrox 2 роки тому

      he answered it before, when he talks about odd greens. as it is needed a stack of four to fill the 100, if the stack isn't complete, we "round up" the stack if there is more than 1 on the odd stack.
      Ex: odd stack with 3 or 2 25chips = 100 | odd stack with 1 25chip = 0
      you only round up to 100 if the odd stack has 2 or more, so the captain will "lose" the 25.

      @@erickrox What incentive is there to be captain, then? The captain's stack is used to color up other players' stacks, which could leave the captain in a position to lose chips for their benefit?

    • @erickrox
      @erickrox 2 роки тому

      @@keithr- there is no incentive, although he doesn’t lose their chips for The benefit, he trades them, and The 25chip that is loose is lost, but fi he has 2 or more, he gains ONE 100 chip

    Lets assume we have situation when we do chip race..and deal that cards for it..we have 1 player with 2 of Heart and 2nd player with 2&2(dimond)(spade)..that 2 which is kicker wins because its highest suit?

    • @WestCoastDealingSchool
      @WestCoastDealingSchool  4 роки тому +2

      Yes. The winner during a chip race is determined by the high card by rank and suit. But also remember each player may only win one chip during the race. And we are looking for the highest card, not the value of all cards together. So a player who might have 3 Aces, simply has an Ace as his high card... but we would be looking for the highest suit from the 3 cards he has.
      It would be possible for one player to have one Ace (Ace of spades) and another player to have the other 3 Aces. The player with the Ace of spades wins.

    so you can give the chip captain 75 in lose chips and take a 100?

    • @WestCoastDealingSchool
      @WestCoastDealingSchool  5 років тому +4

      Yes. And he will not be losing anything because when the greens are coloured up by the floor supervisor those “75” chips will be rounded and considered to be as if 100 in value.
      So, for example and keeping it simple, if the table captain were to now possess 475 in green chips, we will exchange those for a 500 chip anyway.
      Or in reality, 4975 in green chips would be exchanged for a 5k chip.

      @@Stefan-ct7rh Remember that this chip race and colour up procedure is the way it is done at major events like the WSOP. There are a number of other ways to do this.
      To address your question... using this method there will not be more than 1 player receiving a black chip in replacement for their chip or chips of 50, if there is only 1 black chip available. That is what the chip race part of the procedure is for. The dealer turns one card face up for each lower denomination chip that each player has. So if a player has 2 green chips to equal 50 in total, the dealer gives him 2 cards face up and if we have a second player with 2 green chips, he too get 2 cards face up. (if they were chips that have a value of 50 and each player only has one chip each - then they only get one card each)
      The dealer now collects the green chips from both players (which adds up to 1 x 100 chip replacement). Of the two players the one with the highest card gets the black chip.
      Now some events will simply give any player who has 1,2 or 3 green chips left - 1 x black (100 chip each). That's just an easy way to handle this. Small rooms adopt this approach, but large events cannot or we would be introducing too much extra value to the game. You imagine if we had 100 tables remaining (9 handed) when we are colouring up 1000 chips to 5k chips? If every player in the game had just 1 x 1000 chip in the chip race, but we simply exchanged every one of them for a 5000 chip, we have just added 3.6 Million chips into the game. That's a big deal. Wouldn't matter as much if you only have 3 tables, 9 handed (like a small poker room daily tournament) even if all players exchanged 1 x 1K chip for 1 x 5K chip, it would only add 108,000 in value - that is still proportionally too much value in my opinion. But it just makes this whole process easier because you don't need to do the chip race part of this procedure.

      Because this is the full procedure as used by the WSOP (and many other major events and casinos). There are, of course, abbreviated and short cut versions of this procedure. But this video has been produced to show the complete method.

    At 14:42, there are 17 cards. Then at 15:23, the instructor says there are 14 chips. THEN at 15:35, there are only 13 cards, meaning you'd only take three black chips, AND a player is missing! Then at 15:49, there's 17 again. what kind of shenanigans are happening here? lol

    • @WestCoastDealingSchool
      @WestCoastDealingSchool  4 роки тому

      You missed the fact that at 15:05 there are 17 cards but the dealer actually, for a moment, only had 16 green chips... at 15:07 he only had 15 green chips, at 15:10 he only has 14 chips, and at 15:16 he only has 13 green chips. Whilst all the time working with 17 cards on the felt... In fact what seems to be what was really missed here is the point of the video and the exercise? Not to worry, this was intended for professional poker dealers only.

      ima shaman, this is the standard procedure when dealing at large events such as WSOP events. We use this procedure because we do not wish to add a huge value of additional chips (which would happen if you simply gave everyone a black chip for any amount of green chips). Consider the value you would add to an event if you had 100 tables containing 10 players and we are about to color up the 1K chip and replace them with 5k chips?So I am not saying this is the only way of handling the chip race/color up, Im saying this is the official way to handle it at major events such as WSOP etc. If you choose to replace all chips at a smaller event and even have the dealer take care of the whole process then that is understandable. That procedure is also used by many poker rooms here in Las Vegas when handling a small event.Thanks for the comment.Chris
