- Big granite boulders. Little tractor. Let's see how the Kubota LX2610 compact tractor performs on some property maintenance. The HLA Root Rake Grapple is a beast. It's my favourite tractor attachment. I also offer some suggestions and tips for new tractor owners. I hope it is helpful. Cheers!

Wow I cannot believe you picked up that rock..Amazing!!!
LOL! Me too - it still surprises me how much more power you get when you curl in. Cheers!
I forgot last time I was here, I really wanted to thank you for how you posted the grapple,, I got one and I will tell you as far as cutting wood m man it is a god sent.. thanks much !
Hey that's great Skeets! Happy it is working out for you. Have a good weekend!
that tractor handled those rocks great
Crazy what she will lift. 👍🏼. Nice work!
Thanks GH!
Good job
Just picked up a LX2610, great video's! Thank you.
Congratulations Chris! Hope you enjoy it too! Have a great weekend
Kubota dealer came here today to value my trade-in. High hopes to get a good news call tomorrow and I should be a proud new LX2610SU owner.
I enjoy your videos, thanks!
That's great - good luck Brian!
@@GPOutdoors Thank you kindly, sir! No call today.....hopefully tomorrow or Monday.
Good video. The rocks look heavy.
Good morning Larry! They were. I use your spout in the next video coming. Cheers and thanks again!
I just had our new tractor delivered a couple of days ago, I put 5 hours on tractor using the Woodland Mill chipper to break it in. I researched the WC68 that I saw on your channel and love the hydraulic feed, a great machine, I also purchased the log splitter you have and put it together using your video, I did buy the HLA grapple as well but have yet to put in on the machine but after seeing this video I can hardly wait to give it a try. I purchased the Kioti CK3510 HST with cab where initially I was headed for the CK 2610 open but after watching your channel and listening to your comments and the online comments it convinced me to step up in HP and go for the cab version a little more of an investment but hopefully I will not be wanting to trade it in any time soon. The Kabota and Kioti seem to have very similar capabilities and my decision to go for one vs the other was more related to proximity to the dealership. Thanks for all the advice as a tractor novice I do rely on video such as yours to educate myself on the machines and their capabilities
Congratulations Rod! A good choice - especially for the dealer being closer - Kioti look to be very well built and capable. Feels great to be able to do your own projects on the property - yes? :)) As a new tractor owner, if I may offer - always go low and slow ( keep the load low to the ground and take it slow - all the time. Just take your time - hopefully you filled the rear tires with RimGuard for added weight (I found out almost the hard way just how critically important weight is when using the tractor). Try to always keep a heavy weight on the rear of the machine when doing work with your FEL - a good 4-500 lbs is probably good ( your dealer can tell you what is best for your tractor). Check your fluid levels every morning for the next few weeks - when the tractor is new it will burn a little oil in the engine ( not much but a little) and as the hydraulic system settles in you may find your hydraulic fluid needs a little topping up once or twice ( again, just a little). I actually buy all the filters and extra oil and hydraulic fluid jugs ahead of time and keep them on hand. That being you are going to use them when you do the first oil change anyway ( so it is not wasted money) but great to have them on hand in case you ever damage a filter in the forest while working - you have it to swap out and the fluids to refill. Sorry, I was rambling. Have a great time with the new tractor! And thanks for your support!
@@GPOutdoors Gord thanks for taking the time to respond with your advice much appreciated
Really impressed with the performance of the new tractor. If you don't bend/ break stuff your not working!! Lol. Take care!
LOL! Good morning Doug!
i use pallet forks for doing this type of rock movement with my L2501. I am a forklift operator for my job so i guess its second nature to me.
Morning Amped. That's great - although the forks seem so simple in design, I find I still need alot more practice to use them effectively - it is definitely a skill that comes with experience. Take care and all the best!
@@GPOutdoors your grapple sure makes it easier! Nicely done
Hi Gord! To answer the question in the title, yes, it will lift it. Although I must confess that I cheated and watched the video first before answering the question! LOL. Man, you moved some BIG rocks with that grapple and only the Big Tool Rack as ballast. I know you have juice in the tires but even so, I’d have wanted more weight on the rear to feel safe. But you know your machine way better than I do. Nicely done! Thanks for sharing!
Morning Martin. LOL. No cheating!! Yes - I also had the wedge in the back so had about 450 lbs on the rear - more than enough. Yup, you certainly get to know how the tractor feels when it is lifting - you can tell pretty quickly whether there is enough on the back or not. It's nice having a heavier tractor. Much more stable for sure. Take care pal!
Sasquatch had to have seating everywhere a boulder here Boulder there
LOL! Good morning Bob!
We got 7" of wet snow on April 16th. Crazy, but its long melted now.
LOL! Geez - old man winter just does not want to leave this year. Be well!
This is a great video. Subbed.
Nice job! You made that look easy!!! 👍👍👍
Thanks! Have a good one!
Nice work! I find the downside of any cab tractor is seeing what you are doing with the loader. The JD 3720 at work has the same issue compared to my B2601 or the JD 870... The cab is nice in winter but I don't do enough winter work to give up the feel of an open station. I tell my wife all the time of we won the lottery and get our dream property... I would need two tractors... Open station and cab. Hah
LOL! That would be nice - having the two. That might take a little stick handling to get that one past the goalie Chad. :)) Cheers!
Masterful camera work. Love this site. Very relaxing.
Thanks very much Ian! Happy you enjoyed it. All the best!
You are one of the very few compact tractor owners that use his tractor for REAL hard work tasks. You sure don't "baby your equipment"! Thanks!
LOL! Thanks Joe. I can't believe how much wood you have already processed! I need to get moving!
Always fun to watch 🇨🇦
Awesome as usual GP. Outstanding job. Cheers
Thanks so much Hughie!
Nice job Gordon it looks good!
Thankyou Sam!
Great Job GP, Your grappling skills are getting better and better!
Thanks Biff!
Canadian Canada geese lol!
We actually issue them passports....:)) LOL!
I love your picture-in-picture explanations while you're working. Then I get to both see you explaining it and doing it at the same time. Nice to see that beautiful lake.
Good morning and thanks Chad! Yes it was a pretty morning - love seeing the sun rise across the lake. Take good care and all the best!
Nice work with the grapple GP. Gonna be a nice rock wall.
Great video GP. rock on.
You bet WL! Hope you are doing great!
how about mounting a small backup type camera to the front and rear, with a screen inside the cab.
Morning Jim. I thought about it but not seriously yet. I saw Roger on Tractor Tech installed a couple of cameras. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll keep it in mind.
Great video as always, and man the picture quality is amazing
Thanks so much BR!
Good video, great advice about planning what to do with rocks brush etc., I wish I would have had it 25 years ago. My wife and I have been sorting through a pile created 25 years ago when making our driveway and clearing land where we currently live. Also your comment about not babying your equipment makes sense to me, use it but don't abuse it, I have a LX2610 as well, I love the machine but bought it to use.
Morning Edward! Great point - it cost me too much to abuse, but boy , it sure makes a big difference having a tractor on the property. Good luck with your clean-up Edward!
I see I am not the only one that occasionally has to replace sod.
I watched a nesting swan and what we call Canadian honker from a friends house this week. I assume it was the male swan that kept the other swans very far away but appeared to ignore the geese. Their nests are probably only 30 feet apart. I was also concerned I saw a muskrat swim out to the tiny island. I usually get to watch a family of ducks at the water line in front of my house every spring. I was out moving my dock(tractor work) yesterday and noticed deer tracks.
LOL! Morning BG! Yup I still dig a little too low sometimes. Nice having the wildlife around. :))
Beautiful spot!!
Thanks Terry!
Weather sure is improving. Looking forward to seeing the spring/summer projects coming out.
Morning Brad! Yup black flies are on their way - LOL! Have a nice weekend.
Another great video GP!! I've been a subscriber for nearly a year now, and I've learned so much through your videos. Last fall I decided to pull the trigger on buying a tractor. What tractor did I buy? Why a LX2610 cab model of course. You should be a tractor salesman. LOL!!! I love this machine!!! Wishing the best of health to you and yours!!!
LOL! That's great to hear - thanks very much Marty! Hope you are enjoying it as much as I am. Have a great week out there and thanks for your support - I greatly appreciate it!
Hey Gord...I think you could use a little more practice. There are a few rocks up at Haliburton Lake that could use some attention. Oh, and if you want to practice with the blade before doing your own driveway then I'm good with that. 😂😂😂 Best regards.
LOL! Cheers Dan!
@@GPOutdoors hey Gord I'm a huge fan of the channel and always glad to help. If you want to go up I will waive any costs. At least for a while. If you start making a habit of clearing my rocks then I might say something. 😂😂😂 Best regards, and take care!
You're the "Will it Blend?" man of the tractor world!
:)) Have a great week!
That tractor moves a lot of rocks! Wow. Impressd with what the tractor and grapple can do. The grapple is one of the most useful pieces of equipment on a tractor. Glad to see the ice is out and hear the geese honking. Sweet sounds in the quietness of life.
Good morning Jean. The girls are all waiting to see those furry little fellas swimming out along the shore - should be anytime now. Quite interesting is that after they have grown, the whole family will leave for weeks at a time and then return for a few days and leave again - right through till fall. Hope you are keeping well and getting outdoors. Take care!
I'm actually kind of jealous of all the projects you have for your tractor. My property is all in finished lawn so the only real work is fertilizing, aerating and mowing in the growing season and snow removal in the winter. Looks like I have to "tractor live" vicariously through your videos. Keep up the good work and the variety of subjects presented in the videos. Absolutely gives me pleasure but also pause for thought on what you do. Thank you so much! Steve from Minnesota
Thanks very much Steve! Happy you enjoy them. There's always something to do for sure. Have a great week!
Thanks for the interesting video. I’m impressed on the weight the 2610 can lift. Very nice machine!
I was very pleased too, Wayne. It did a great job I think. Take care!
Your buddy had some great advice. You will have more luck more of the time if you have a plan. They don’t always work out but plans really make for way more fun when it comes right down to it. Good luck with your plan even if it takes more time to get it done. It’s all worth it. Great content thanks for sharing. Have a great day
Thanks very much Stan!
GP, could you mount a camera behind the grill so you could see the bottom of your grapple? It wouldn't serve much purpose when you have the blower on.
Not a bad idea Keith. I will give some further thought . I see that Roger on Tractor Tech did. Thanks!
Thanks for the video, GP! My new LX2610SU was delivered yesterday, and it's always good to see the capabilities of the grapple (mine is ordered and will be here soon!). Take care my friend!
Congrats MH! That's great! All the best!
Nice! Can’t wait to do that myself one day!
Hey Gord. Definitely pays to plan! I’ve moved the same rocks at my place a few too many times for my liking. Lol. Getting more space cleared now to stock pile/stage things for the next use though thankfully. Cheers.
Good morning Bill!
Gord ,do you have hydro at the cottage ?
Morning C2! I am off grid - solar only. No utility connection. :)
Maybe one day you could do a run down on your solar set up?
Gordon , I always look forward to your videos ,its your place whatever you're doing and the narration , just makes my day more pleasant big thanks !
Thanks very kindly Dean. I really appreciate the comments and very happy you enjoy them. Have a wonderful week!
Great job Gord, great job with your grapple, that’s a great appliance to have for sure. You use it well. The lake really looks good and those honkers sure are great to listen too unless you’re a farmer. Looks great around there and hope you’re good weather hangs around and the rains come when you need them. Thanks for sharing with us, Fred.🙏🏻🙏🏻👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👋👋
Good morning Fred! yup, the goslings should be out any day now. My daughter was here on the weekend and was hoping to see the babies come out but sadly, they haven't yet. Take care - have a wonderful week my friend!
Really enjoyed the video GP! I like how you mentioned you need to think of a spot to put everything that will be out of the way for the future, I am going through this predicament right now building my new wood yard and I need to think a few years down the road of where a good spot to put rocks brush debris etc. will be! Cheers!
Morning DR! Thanks. Good idea - worth taking some time to think ahead and plan for sure. Good stuff!
In Canada, are Canadian geese just geese?? LOL.
LOL!
Love it. "I dont baby my equipment"
Good video Gord that tractor is really strong couple of those boulders I though no way it not going to lift them I was wrong glad you guys are getting some nice weather nice day here in NB today but it has been rainy and cold take care buddy
Good evening Tom! Me too - I wasn't sure - I forgot how large some of them were but happy it did the job - It was a little slow lifting that big flat one. LOL. Take care and wish you all the best! The Black Flies will be here soon...
Good morning, thanks for posting and taking the time to video. Good tips on the grapple and lifting capacity, I was wondering how big a rock could be lifted... we grow large rocks on the property too...some quite big. I have observed one by the path to the meadow must be the size of a Volkswagen bug lol.
I will most likely get a grapple in the next month ordered. Have looked at the HKA and the land pride..the land pride was less weight so logically I could lift more.
Anyways, enjoyed the video and looks like you are nearing 50k subscribers so I will give you and early congrats.
Good morning ad great to hear from you Sunjay! Hope all is going well for you and your family. You will really love having a grapple - but make sure you have plenty of ballast on the rear. :) All the best - thanks for saying hi this morning!
Just bought a Land pride root grapple on Saturday... I can tell I’m going to get a lot of use out of it clearing my new property in New Hampshire Using it on a Kabota L3901
That's great Mike! I think you will really like it - so practical for so many things. Take care!
Hey there GP!!! That grapple is a great attachment. It sure makes picking rocks easy. The tractor is pretty capable to. Some of those rocks were big and heavy and the tractor managed them pretty good. Like you mentioned, it's nice that if the tractor hydraulics won't lift it, you shouldn't be lifting that heavy a load!!! Take care!!!
LOL! Good evening Grampie. Yup - I think they put that functionality on it just for me. :)) Keeps me from breaking it. Have a wonderful week!
Good video GP. I noticed you changed your RPM a couple of times during the video. What RPM do you normally run your Kubota on while working with your grapple and front end loader? I'm still waiting on the video titled "How To Fly Fish From Your Kubota!" I don't think Kubota has thought of that attachment yet though LOL. Take care and have a great weekend!
LOL! Good morning and thanks for the morning smile Cliff - I usually run a little below max RPM - that way the loader controls etc run slower so it is easier for me to operate them ( coordinate between lift and curl etc) but when it is a heavy load then I rev it up. People say it is best to always operate at full rpm , which I think is true but I find the controls so much faster to coordinate.
I just did a ton of grapple work over the past few days after watching his videos. I usually keep my RPM's around 2000 (4wd in low on my 2610hsu).
@@Starman.2112 Thanks Todd
Snow sucks!
LOL!
Have you ran into anything where the HP was an issue and wanted the 33hp?
Morning Charles. Not so far. Lots of power for the things I do here. Have a good day!
Great video! Based on what I see from your videos, I went ahead and ordered a HLA grapple for my L2501. I need to purchase hoses from the grapple to the connection manifold on loader, could you kindly tell me the length on your setup?
Hi Paul. I have not measured it but the connections on my machine are steel piping from the valve body to the front connections on the loader beam and are from Kubota stock. I think the distance of your loader arms is much longer than mine. Good luck with your build out!
The cab is my favorite feature of that Kubota. I have been thinking about adding a grapple bucket. Right now I use my backhoe for grabbing
G P always like things that are real life happenings give everyone insight on how to do things
God Bless All

Cheers Peter!

Thanks Frankie! Cheers!
The loader on my Massey tells me to get stuffed pretty quick when there's too much load. Good thing for the pressure relief, saves from possible damage.
LOL! Morning Fred. I agree - very smart idea for guys like me. Have a great weekend - hope you get outdoors!
GP, how much weight do you have on the back? I seem to have the 2601 up on 3 wheels a couple times
Morning Skeets. I did too with my old B2601. The LX2610 weighs much more so I can often get away with just the Big Tool Rack ( about 300 lbs plus 80 lbs for the quick hitch). With the B2601, she was lighter so I would usually always use my Box Blade as ballast ( 450 lbs). I think ideally, about 5-600 lbs would be great but I have nothing that heavy. That would work for almost anything I needed to lift ( most things). Good luck!
@@GPOutdoors Ta thats kind of what I was thinking but getting an answer from someone that had one is a good place to start,,Peace
Man you got some big ones. I was wondering on that garage storage wood shed , If you can't use some of those monster rocks that you have. Cant you make a floating foundation. You sure have some big rocks you can surely build off of. Just thinking. Like a storage shed that you can buy at some lumber yards. Just dreaming. Great video.
LOL! A good idea to consider for sure Doug. I was actually at one this past week looking at designs but still lots to consider with lumber prices the way they are - Guy suggested looking at steel builds. Thanks my friend!
Hey GP, another great video and very informative. I’m looking at getting a grapple for my B3000 and HLA was one of the ones I was looking at, along with Landpride and EA wicked grapple. What model and size is that HLA, and did you have a diverter or 3rd function valve installed, if you don’t mind me asking? Thanks for very informative videos, stay safe and healthy! Paul
Good morning Paul. It is the "Light Duty Root Rake with Grapple- 60 inch". I had a 3rd function installed by the dealer. It weighs much more than most other grapples for the compact tractors. (about 200 lbs more) It is made with commercial steel I believe whereas many others are made with high carbon steel ( I think that is what it is called). I have never tried any of the others but I like mine a lot - Good luck with your choice - I am sure you will find it is money well spent. Cheers!
Thanks GP, I appreciate the info. Will look into that model. Whatever grapple I end up ordering , it will be at least a 4 month wait, some longer!
Thanks again, Cheers!
Nice one GP! Waiting on the appearance of the attacking flies..
LOL! They are coming - been starting to arrive and pretty soon I'll be locking myself in the cab! :))
There actually should be 2 of them valves you mentioned a system relief valve and a circuit relief valve they are there to protect your equipment so you don't lift objects that are to heavy which would result in equipment damage or injury. Like you mentioned if your front tires look flat from the load means the weight on your rear tires are reduced which could less control when your moving around.
Morning and thanks Neil! I appreciate the info above and I am sure others will read your comment and benefit too. Thanks again for taking the time to share it with us. Take good care and all the best!
What would you say is the lift capacity of the LX2610 using the grapple??
Love it GP. I've been out every minute I can be. Take Care - Cheers!! Jason
Good stuff Jason!
Great Tips! How much rear ballast was in that big tool rack ? Those were some heavy boulders! I assume the filled tires provide a lot of weight
Hey Frank. Yes the BTR is 300 lbs and the rears are filled with RimGuard. Glad I filled them - makes a big difference. Cheers!
I use my grapple the most! I’ve built a rock wall too, so easy with the tractor! Good advice on having a plan for storing different things around the property, I do that also, rock pile, brush pile, logs.
Love the Grapple DD! Have a good one!
You were moving some good sized boulders GP! How much does the tool rack weigh? I figured you would be nose diving with a couple of those rocks as I didn't think the tool rack was heavy enough as a counter balance, but you proved me wrong. A friend came over to rip out stumps with his excavator so I had him move some boulders for me. I guess I could have done it with the LX3310! The shop couldn't reproduce the surge I was feeling but I was told by them it should stop when the tractor gets broken in. The AC problem was a wire unplugged at the compressor. They installed the rear wheel spacers and the second rear remote so I'm back in action! I think I will build a weight box for ballast next. The rear snow blower is too wide to leave on. Cheers from MA!
Morning D! That's great - you are all set now . I think a ballast box would be a great add. I find the tractor is much more stable and you feel much more confident when you have a good weight on the rear. Great to hear it is all ready and back in action. Take care and have a nice weekend!
Loved the video. Question for you. I know the cab is great for the winter, but do you have any issues with it being top heavy or with missing branches when driving through the woods? If not for the cold winter would you still get the cab? Thanks
Good evening. That's a great question. The main reason I got the cab was for the winter - my B2601 open station was a great tractor and although I have to say I have enjoyed the air conditioning and safe harbour from the black flies that I get with the cab in the summer, I did enjoy having the open station otherwise. The cab does make the tractor feel differently when driving across terrain - it tends to swing more for sure but branches etc have not been a big problem - I have just been extra careful and attentive when driving through the forest. Thanks- have a good week!
gopro or asmo?
GoPro. A little quirkie sometimes. but good I think.
3 thumbs down ! Probably JT voters.
LOL! Cheers and thanks C2!
".....I don't baby my equipment..." 😳
What?!?!? It's the most (very well used but) babied equipment I've ever seen..... 😂😂😂 come to Cork in Southern Ireland after this pandemic and I'll show you some equipment that's not "babied", Gord......... 🤦🏼♂️ 😂😂😂
LOL! I would love to get to Ireland some day - I hear its beautiful out there. Cheers!
