I bought the RK 72" grapple in March for my Kubota L4330. Thanks to Mike for the earlier videos demonstrating it. I debated for a long time; what size to buy, single lid vs double, and who to get it from (EA vs RK). I'm happy with the RK 72" and really like how it's designed - details such as the laser cut, welding and a design that balances strength vs weight. I'm clearing trails and building a drive on 20 acres of forested land in West MI. It's getting a work out and winning the battle with Autumn Olive roots and hauling a lot of logs. Thanks to Doug at the RK Power Equipment team and the Sean at the Hartland MI store for an excellent buying experience. Also thanks to Mike for an inspiring series of videos - I've learned a lot from you! Jon.
Just watched grapple video from 4 years ago what a change in landscape/property and also in equipment a video showcasing this transition would be very interesting 👍👍great channel been watching for a couple years I am gonna look for more older videos now keep up the good work
I grew up in Avon Lake, OH and we kept our boat in Sandusky. I was going to Cedar Point in the 60's. We watched the wooden roller coaster get built from our boathouse.
Thanks Mike and Melissa. Yes animals do have feelings. Always appreciate your attention to details and how you present them. It's raining here in Texas again. Hope your weekend is enjoyable. ☝👍👉
I have the 54” Granite Grapple on the RK24. With the 54” your review is spot on, it is more difficult to pick out a log when driving in to a pile. Often I come in over the drop and drop down on the log, this gives me good visibility and I similarly use the bottom hooks to pick out the log. Great review, the 54” and RK24 are a great match.
I've got at 55" Wicked Grapple from EverythingAttachments on the way. I've got a 37hp Kabota L3830 HST that I think the 55" Wicked Grapple will be perfect for. I mainly wanted more lifting power so I decided against the 5 foot or 6 foot grapple.
Watching your "grapple videos" help plant the seed of desire for me. I would up buying a Wicked 60 from Everything Attachments. It is a wonderful addition to my tractor implements. And it hasn't been off my Kioti since I got it several months ago!
Happy Mother's Day to the Beautiful Melissa !!! Hope your Big Day is Fabulously Amazing. Another Great Video Guys. I think the 72 incher on the RK37 is a BEAST !!!
Just picked up a 66" grapple and used it for the first on Saturday. Love it so far. Moved lots of dead trees and old root balls. Don't like the way the hoses run and can see wire braid already. I have a new Kubota L3901 that I am using it on. Have a good weekend and Happy Mother's day to Melissa.
A very useful and informative video (thanks) unfortunately ruined by 6 video ads. I am a retired biotech patent attorney in MA and based on your videos contacted RK about their small tractors. They sent me an automated “we’ll contact you” email but then never did. Apparently no interest in Ma based customers. Kubota showed no such reluctance. You are an excellent ‘sales rep’ even if not intending to be but not yet backed up by the company. Keep up the informative and entertaining videos!
Thanks mike and Melissa I get up at 4.30am every morning during the week so I know where you are coming from going to bed early also that camera angle when you were mowing haven't seen that before looks good. nice info on the grapple.
I have always wondered about adding a camera on the loader arms, and have a small monitor in the cab or mounted above the steering wheel for non-cab tractors so that you could see what the front implement is doing.
Nice Video Mr. Morgan , really like either grapple . I have to tell you we walked into the bush here in Northern Ontario , the snow is almost all gone only in the low spots that don't get much sun . We had a bumper crop of snow this year something like 84" average now we have little creeks that are now rivers and now mud season . That grapple would be handy here to move all the branches out of the creeks have a nice weekend
Nice informative video I wish I'd have seen it sooner. Before I placed my diverter valve. I like where yours is placed on your rk37. Could have saved me some trouble and some hoses.
Cedar Point is in Sandusky Ohio , Geauga Lake Park was a totally different park. That is my old neck of the woods. I am now in North Pole, Alaska. Keep it up Mike you guys are doing great
Melissa wishing you a Happy Mother's Day! Mike looks like the log pile is piling up, soon time for a woodmizer lol... Looks like it's going to be another rainy Sunday here in the eastern pa.
Was getting ready to go to bed then get notified that there is a new episode of Outdoors With The Morgans so naturally I had to watch it. I want to get a grapple but unfortunately no one sells them here. Mike that is good looking grass you have.
You can mow and weed eat really fast. Thanks for sharing your information on what you like and dont like. I used this information when ordering mine. I ordered a Severe Duty Grapple Rake from Blue Diamond. Should be here in a week just in time for a few big projects.
My son bought a grapple for his "Bota" it was kinda expensive but it brings so much value in usefulness that just last evening we commented how much value it brings to the wood cutting process I believe his grapple is only 48 inches but seems to work well with his BX2670. Ours was made by Everything Attachments. Free Shipping on that too.
happy mothers day melissa, and all the mothers who might see this comment. that was a very good video yall. i put just under 12hrs on the rk55 today. most of it was bushhogging but i did a little box blading and then put the carry-all on and ran around gathering up firewood rounds. ive got alot of splitting to do and that wolf ridge splitter sure would be handy. HAVE A DAY and tell hunter hey from matt in central ky.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
High mike a family. Did u ever here back from bukin Billy about the tree across the pound every body was giving u carp about. Been watching buckins videos what a good guy. Love the videos thanks
This video made me nervous. Just bought a 66” grapple and was worried you were going to find out that smaller is (for the first time ever) better. Whew! Great stuff, as usual. Thanks for all you do! Say “Hey” to Hunter for me!
I should add, we can’t get RK grapples here in Ontario, so I ordered the HLA Grapple like Gord uses on GP Outdoors. Between the two of you, I get all the information I need to make good buying decisions, maintain our new farm and keep my equipment (and me) running all the time. Thanks!
Great video, as per your usual standard Mike, very interesting. Very humid here on Phuket, wet season so it's to be expected, some rain and some hot sun, we need a whole lot more over here, having a bit of a drought at present, temperature range 27 degrees Celsius of a night to 33 degrees Celsius during the day. Cheers guys
Great video Mike in explaining the different pros and cons of the different sizes of grapples . Showing us what you see from the seat was a great idea . Can't see the grapple would certainly be a pain . Have seen many videos with the Artillian grapple with the separate moving jaws . Too bad you don't have one of those to compare and give us your opinion . If I was in the market for a grapple I would be hard pressed in picking which one to purchase . Personally I like the Granit grapple but what do I know . Calling for rain tomorrow . Beautiful Saturday so I'm gonna go visit Mom at the Cemetery today and plant some flowers . She loved flowers . Hope Melissa gets her Mothers Day photo of the family .
Even with single top lid, I like that style better since you can really get under stuff and just lift like a set of forks rather than having to clamp down on whatever the material is. I've put about 100 hours use on mine from Everything Attachments and cleared a good few acres and move tons of rocks and debris. It stays on my L3301 99% of the time.
Good morning from So. Ca. Beautiful weekend in store here. Always good information and I would agree that it'd be nice if the tines were longer one smaller grapple. Otherwise, enjoy your Saturday and play safe.
Mike I don’t know what I’d do without my grapple. You can clear brush, lift logs, whatever you need to do with them. I have a John Deere 6415 and my bucket and grapple are 7’ which really comes in handy. Anyway I really enjoyed the video as always. Say hi to Hunter for us. Thanks 👍👍👍❤️
A trick that will help with the lack of visibility with smaller grapple is to add a small rod with a bright ball on the end somewhere on the back plate of the implement, just so it sticks up in view, you will be able to tell the angle by the tilt of the rod and height by how much it sticks up as you raise and lower it!
Mike thanks for doing the video demo's. I've been searching for a grapple for my 26 hp tractor and this RK 54 seems it will work great. Only question I have is how does it work on picking up and moving decent size rocks?
I grew up in Avon Lake, Ohio about 20 miles west of Cleveland. Cedar Point is the BEST amusement park EVER!!! Always had the best roller coasters. Geauga Lake (at one time it was renamed as a Six Flags) used to be in Aurora, Ohio. Google says they closed in 2007.
Greetings from East Central MN. I see your dandelions have gone to seed already, our yellow flowers are just starting to pop out. Great info on the grapple, I am trying to figure out how to make it work on my Kubota BX2660. Hi to Melissa and Hunter! Cheers!
How are things in my neck of the woods...... I have everything I need, I don't have everything I want but who does. Health could be a lot better but I woke up this morning so... it's good. Hi to all the Morgans, make sure Hunter gets his BK Chicken sammich. Milwaukee WI Condo Dweller.
@@Morgansunleashed I Love your videos and am living vicariously through them. We have always wanted a nice piece of land but the cards went another way for us. Thanks for the reply.
Had one thought while watching you haul pole wood from the trails on the loader, ever considered a trailer like a hay rack with stations ( up Rights) to load wood and then pull a loaded trailer to where you process the fire-wood? Is lots of stress on expensive front axels. Northern sells nice looking small scale hay rack running gear easily made into a log bunk. Will make getting more to processing area faster plus they unbolt for smaller storage.
Mike can you use the bottom of the grapple for dragging out roots? It looks like there are 2 pieces of iron hanging lower just for ripping not sure if this is the case? There website is kinds sad and unfortunately under sells there equipment and basically says go see the morgans for any info haha.
I’m in the middle of buying a grapple and this old video was very helpful. Do you have any familiarity with the Land Pride Grapples? If so, how would you compare the Land Pride SGC 1060/72 grapple with the RT Grapple in your video? Thanks! TJ
Good morning Mike. I am concerning a new tractor to accommodate a grapple. I have plenty of woods to clear out . I also have problems with the Alabama heat and cold wet weather in the winter. I feel like I would get far more work done with a cab tractor. However, I am concerned about tearing up a cab in the woods. What are your thoughts?
He said in this video he likes the 37 over the 55 w cab (size in woods, grapple use) . I sat in a 37 and 55 cab version at dealer. Don't remember what view is like. I agree with your thoughts of wanting a cab, for the heater and cooling! He does use hearing protection w the 37. I have noticed smaller tractor being louder w or without cab 🤔🤨☹️.
Its time consuming with a cab,but it can be done. Ie always looking out for limbs that can crack/break cab glass. Where as a open station you're in an out. But if time allows you can get some help and open up the work area ie limb the trees and your good to go.
Hi David. I had open station tractors for years, but as I got older the cold bothers me more clearing snow so I upgraded my small tractor to a cab tractor. I like it so much I upgraded my big tractor to a cab tractor. I use them both in the woods about 50% of the time and have not ever thought it was a bad decision, you just have to be aware of your surroundings. And its nice having the AC when mowing.
Thanks Mike. Imo, the larger grappler looks like overkill on the RK37 tractor, to big & bulky. The smaller grappler appears correctly sized & looks better on the RK37. However, functionally you have some valid points preferring the larger grappler on this small tractor. I have been to several implement dealers in both VT & NH around my area & all of them are stocking the conventional grapplers with the JD quick release functions I will need. These units are the typical narrow jawed grapplers & all the dealers claim they will do the same thing these monster units can do... My 16 yr. old JD-990 is not plumbed for a grappler, therefor hose ines have to be custom made, a Fesse valve & brkt welded in place & a hydro/electric switch installed on the bucket control arm lever. Of the (4) current bucket arm hoses, (2) get switched over to the Fesse valve, this is what allows for the opening & closing of the jaws... Cost wise for my particular setup runs in the $2300.00 range... In the meantime, I will do the " poor man's " approach to this & simply purchase a good set of forks with a full rack. Through my JD dealer a set of HSA's run about $960.00 with little to no rack. A set of JD 48" forks with a full rack runs about $1250.00. I have looked at the Chinese stuff out there, not impressed at any price... Thanks Bill on the Hill, Vermont... :~)
Hi Bill on the Hill. Does your JD have a rear remote? I ran a grapple with a rear remote, the remote lever was very close to the loader control and it was easy to move my hand from one to the other. And when the grapple wasn't being used I had the remote available for other uses. Just another option for you to consider.
No mowing here yet. NE MN. Usually have to think about the dreaded mosquitoes about now. Not this year. Fishing opener this weekend, today, and the lake closest to my house still has ice at the landing. :(
The music during the grass cutting sequence was like one of those films from the 50’s about what the future would look like. I half expected to see Melissa in a dress showing off a turkey cooked with atomic power.
One thing with a little grapple on a bigger tractor is that the bigger tractor has more force and can bend the smaller grapples. To pick up logs, you can point your grapple down, put the fixed teeth between you and the log and then squeeze on the log. When we first built the grapple for my wife's tractor, ti did not have much gripping force and would not pick up a log unless the grapple was at least half way around the log. We re-engineered the hydraulics and it will now crush a refrigerator.
Higher RPM gives you more power in the hydraulics. The pump is directly related to speed and power of operations. I have two grapples for my Deer and one is a monster. It can dig and work. It weighs almost double as my double grip version. Martin p.s. could have a camera and display - think backup in a truck unit - one to look over the top as it were - maybe on a mast over your head looking over. Might be of use.
Great video Mike and Melissa. Good information and comparison on what to expect by up or downsizing while shopping for a Grapple. Gives a person something to look at before buying one. Thanks for sharing. Hey Hunter, what Day is it?
I’m sure you have thought of this but I would feel terrible if I didn’t relay a personal experience. My Mother had a beautiful black Lab. The Lab had gotten older and had slowed down considerably. The Lab was under the farm truck and didn’t get out fast enough. It didn’t kill her but it was a traumatic experience for us all. She survived but she was stove up for awhile. Just a reminder our pets slow with age as we do. You have beautiful dogs and it’s obvious they love to be where y’all are. Tell Hunter an old guy from Texas said hello.
Hey Mike, thanks for the video. I have a 6 ft Everything Attachments grapple with the same hydraulic couplings you have and i notice 8 out of 10 times when i go to hook it back up to the tractor there is pressure in either line and i cant couple it unless i loosen the fitting at the cylinder end on the grapple to relieve some of the hydraulic pressure, do you ever have this problem?
The secret to solving that problem with a third function valve piece of equipment is this. Before UNhooking the grapple and again before hooking it up is this. After shutting the tractor off turn the back on to the ON position. Don't start it, just turn the key ON. Then, push the two buttons on the joystick for the OPEN/CLOSE two to three times each. That relieves the pressure. Then turn the key off and you'll have no more problems hooking the couplers.
Happy Mother’s Day! I wished heaven had visiting hours so I could talk to my mom. I really miss her! Y’all have a good-un!

Thanks Bill on the Hill,
Vermont...
What do you use to fertilize your lawn, while keeping it safe for your chickens to graze?
grapple looks like a good tool, would be handy picking debris off the property now that the flood is receding, Grand Lake New Brunswick
80 degrees here!!
Hello, what is the electric valve on the front of the loader in the middle of the arms?
Great video Mike and Melissa. Good information and comparison on what to expect by up or downsizing while shopping for a Grapple. Gives a person something to look at before buying one. Thanks for sharing. Hey Hunter, what Day is it?
Mike Mike Mike, what day is it? What daay is it? Its BK chicken day! WOOP WOOP! Get Hunter and and go get the sandwich.
When mowing your yard do you try cutting it different ways? Or same way every time?
That is the LAST thing i would want to do.... Nice play on words, Mike.
How come the rear dif is always locked on the RK 37?
When will the sawmill be coming?
That’s a strong little tractor. Surprised it can lift that oak log.
As a general rule I like to have an implement wider than the tractor.
Thanks for sharing Mike, what kind of camera did u for this video, i like its clarity.
@@garymeyer3294 thanks Gary, yeah i just figured that out this fall. and it works just like you said. thanks.
What engine is in the RK tractor. ? Sounds like a yanmar
