Good morning GP I have over forty years of operating a lot of different tractor manufacturers I am by no means a tractor expert. One of my pet peeves is no chains carrying the loader high in the air keep that bucket as low as possible. Have a good day

Great video. Very informative. I have a 2018 BX2380 and love it. I’m not doing all sorts of work like you are both I would love to, I just need to finally buy an acreage. Lol. I just recommended your Channel to my brother who have just purchased 106 acreages in Nova Scotia. He will be a first time tractor owner and I believe your videos will be invaluable to him, as he will be doing work similar to what you are doing on your acreage. He is considering a Kubota LX2610. My BX2380 is an open tractor and you are 100% correct. Too have a heated / AC cab is the way to go. I should have bought the cab with my BX in 2018 as today, the cab is double the price. Once again, great videos!

Great video, Gord! Super job explaining when and where to use the float ... took me a while to figure that out but I take virtually the same approach.
Regarding Grapple choices, I spent a long time researching grapples before I made my choice. For readers who might be considering a grapple, here’s the brief summary of my research for some of the major brands... and please note these are sized for compact tractors
Artillian: didn’t like their square upper jaw - it doesn’t close tightly on smaller logs and rocks (didn’t see the need for two half-jaws either)
Everything Attachments Wicked Root Rake - I initially really liked this one but the more I looked into it, I realized that I didn’t want the tines (teeth, whatever you want to call them) so far apart. If you want to pick up smaller rocks or split wood, much of it will fall between the tines.
Land Pride: The SGC10 series is a great match for the L series Kubotas (for reference, I have the Grand L4060) and I almost bought this one. High strength AR400 steel, relatively light, fairly closely spaced tines, good reviews, BUT the backside of the lower jaw is closed off with sheet steel except in the mid area. Sometimes you need to see through the tines to know where your claws are. You can’t see through the openings in the middle because of the nose of the tractor, and you can’t see through the outer part of the grapple because it’s closed off with sheet steel.
HLA Light Duty Root Rake (exactly what GP has): “Commercial” (mild) steel but 1/2” thick tines, relatively tightly spaced tines (about 6” apart, one hydraulic cylinder and it’s VERY strong so lots of bite. Great price, same range of jaw opening as the others, and it closes nicely on smaller logs and rocks. Perfect. Bought it. Would do it again without question. I’ve dug out huge boulders that barely fit in the jaws and near the capacity of the loader, but even without a “wrap” on the rock, the jaws will hold their bite. Can you bend the tines? If you wedge in just the right size and shape rock, sure you can.(although mine aren’t bent as bad as Gord’s LOL!) Can they be straightened? Yes, with a really big hammer or hydraulic spreader, but why bother? It still works just fine! And finally, as Gord mentioned, HLA products are made in Ontario, Canada, so good for us Canucks, but also good for our American friends because of the 30% exchange on the dollar in YOUR faviour!)
Hope this is helpful for anyone looking to buy a grapple!

I have a Wicked 55 on my Deere 1023e and frequently max out the lift capability of my tractor on big rocks. Remember that all tractors can curl more weight than they can lift. For big loads (rocks), you rotate your curl forward and come down on the rock from above and grab it tight with the grapple. Then you curl back and you can get a surprisingly big load a few inches off the ground. Then I can slowly move it. Cheers.
