  • Today we are changing the oil on my 2002 Shadow Sabre 1100. What you'll need before you start:
    * Do not thread in dipstick when checking oil.* (Just dip it as deep as it goes unthreaded)
    - 4 Litres of full synthetic four-stroke motorcycle oil
    - Honda oil filter replacement
    - 17 MM socket
    - 3/8 wrench extension
    -3/8 ratchet
    - Oil filter wrench
    - Oil drain pan
    - Rags for cleaning
    - Newspaper to cover the ground from drops (for your wife's satisfaction)
    1. Start by getting your supplies ready.
    2. Setup the oil pan below the bike ready to catch the oil. (We just used a
    3. Drain the oil into the catch pan.
    4. Crack the oil filter an un-thread it. ( Have catch pan under)
    5. Clean up the area and let the remaining oil drip out.
    6. Re-install the drain plug at 22 Ft-Lbs
    7. Clean oil filter contact area
    8. Lube oil filter seal with fresh oil.
    9. Re-install the oil filter at 7 Ft-Lbs
    10. Fill the bike with 3.2L of oil.
    11. Run the bike for 30 seconds and check the oil level. ( Make sure the bike is in the upright position.)
    12. If required, add more oil 50 ml at a time until the oil is at the desired level.
    13. Clean up all of the area.
    14. Go for a ride and check for leaks.

I just got my first bike, a 1991 Honda Shadow. I want to take as much care of it myself as possible. Thank you for your insight on a typical maintenance.

Thanks for the video. My grandfather passed away in 2016 and I've recently decided to restore his shadow 1100 aero. It has been sitting without being started for at least 7 years now and the oil and gas definitely need to be replaced. With any luck hopefully I can get it running.l

If I remember right ,its not advised to use full synthetic oil in the Honda's,as its possible that the clutch will slip

    Hey, what’s up!
    I also have 1995 Honda Shadow 1100
And I’m going to change the oil for the first time and I would love to know your opinion about engine oil!
Is that any big difference between 10w30 and 10w40 and what type should I get for this bike?
    Thank you tho!

Hey man, wondering if you still had your Shadow 1100 and how you like the bike. I'm looking at one at a local dealer. The bike looks good and only has 9,000 miles on it.. it's a 2004 and was owned by an old guy who was getting to old to ride. The dealer wants 4,500.00 for the bike...a little more than Kelly Bluebook. Thanks for sharing and any thoughts you have on your bike.

I bought mine for $4000 CAD with 3500km on it. So that is a bit high… how are the tires? Forks?

    • @ambu6478
      @ambu6478 2 роки тому +1

It's got new tires on it and the forks seem fine. It has a windshield and a short sissy bar and back rest, and crash bars/ engine guard. I rode the bike and it seems a little bit heavy. Maybe the price is a little bit high. Thanks.

@@ambu6478 does it have an after market seat? Or driver backrest? Is it your first bike?

    • @ambu6478
      @ambu6478 2 роки тому +1

@@CruisersCorner It was a stock seat, but it has Vance and Hines pipes. No it's not my first bike. I'm 67 and started ridding when I was eleven. I've had several Hondas, two Yamahas, a Suzuki, two Harleys and one Kawasaki. They've all been street bikes.

@@ambu6478Japanese are the best for quality. I’d say the bike would be a good deal for $3500.
