'music by good mood'
Danny Gatton started out following in Roy's footsteps, and eventually got determined to top him,but Roy was his biggest influence. I used to see them both in DC clubs-both local, and know people who were friends with both
I'll check Anderson who I haven't heard, but I would include Cornell Dupree among greatest tele masters- he's doesn't play flashy but is the tastiest of them all, phrasing is always superb
Sir George Martin who produced several Beatles albums said Blow by Blow (Jeff Beck's best) was one of his finest works. Guess who Jeff Beff dedicated the album to, Roy B.
No, just the song Cause We've Ended As Lovers. The intro, with the crying guitar volume swells, is straight from the Roy B. playbook. Jeff Beck was influenced by Roy's Telecaster playing, though. He's said that on several occasions. His playing on that song was an homage to Roy and it's there for all to hear.
Would love to know what he did that so many stations refused to play his music! WYDD in Pittsburgh, a free form radio was known to play his music, but not many others!
+Yasser Osman you have the wrong person, Roy Buchanan was NOT political and he didn't die of a strange heart attack. Supposedly he hung himself in a jail cell. The greatest unknown guitarist crossed wires in some other way, but politics was not one of them.
yeah music is not a competition. It's hard for me to see Roy as mainly blues - I saw many times, he did it all. The most amazing players in terms of chordal mastery are Ted Greene, who wrote chord Chemistry, Lenny Breau, Geroge Van Epps
Beautiful 57 Black top Telecaster nobody ever been able to figure out how he got it to sound the way he did rumor has it that he put a penny under the bridge that gave it that unique tone
@renman103 I agree Roy is an amazing player but if you would like to hear the two all time greatest players of the Telecaster, then listen to everything on UA-cam by Scotty Anderson and the unbelievable Danny Gatton. It doesn't get any better than these two Telemasters.
James Burton! Not as many notes as those other guys. But it's not what you play, it's how you play it. Burton is one the finest Tele Masters ever, and one of the most copied of all time. His "chicken pickin'" and use of the pick and finger technique influenced many a player. Listen to his solo on Ricky Nelson's "Fools Rush In." The man knew his way around the fretboard. Or his classic solo on "Travelin' Man." Less is more; feel and tone are everything.
I believe him to be the most versatile guitar player of his era. Also the most forgotten and under-rated.
Jeff beck is the only other guitarist who makes his guitar sing
I couldn't agree more.He doesn't get enough credit for his talent .
Roy is a badass.
Saw Roy.. Auckland nz.. in the 70s. im 65 now.. best blues eva.
Blues full of soul ! That's the Buchanan sound !
Without a doubt one of the most talented musical souls to have graced this planet. Your time came far too soon Mr Buchanan :(
He simply owns the Tele..
nobody mentions this outstanding organ and piano solo, one of best ever! soso good
I know it off by heart
Play it on my steering wheel 😎
A recognizable great telecaster master!!!
SO MUCH SOUL / PIERCING GUITAR WORK ROY WAS THE BLUES AND IS MORE FAMOUS NOW HE IS LOOKING DOWN --SMILING !
If I didn’t know better, I would think this mix was done be me 👌🎯
The king of the Telecaster
My god, this man could play!!! Thanks for posting. Beautiful!
Yeah id say SRV learned some licks off Roy.
Fantastic
Still one of the best
Booker T and the MG's gave him a damn nice template to play with!

Danny n Roy...were roommates
I'll check Anderson who I haven't heard, but I would include Cornell Dupree among greatest tele masters- he's doesn't play flashy but is the tastiest of them all, phrasing is always superb
Geez could he do things that I have never heard done on a telecaster.
Give credit where it is due folks.
i agree, no pedal board either.
I had no idea his could do what he did with that Telecaster. He is missed.
This was 78, man....
it was the same band that played in AUCKLAND NZ
wicket guitarist and so is the organist!
Playing piano on one hand and organ the other....hey cash flow
Nice tribute!

And Roy responded with My Friend Jeff on an albumn
I wish he could have been my teacher.

Yasser might be correct. Family and friends claimed it wasnt suicide.
@Yasser Osman huh...no

Great load...shows how Roy was not a one man band
33
Is that a Charvel Telecaster near 5 minutes?
Is this version on Apple Music?
@jmsbk12345 thats your opinion. i believe roy is better than both of those guitarists.
Yep Anderson is a monster alright
Three tone deaf mutants thumbs down this masterpiece! >:
Hey to the one guy who disliked, I'll kick your ass if we cross paths:) Jk I don't beat up disabled people.
I'm not liking cuz 333 look cool dont wanna ruin XD
yummy... ;-))
zaz
nice tone on this one, dont need to say anything about the playing lol

The real chord master was Ted Greene
A good player but not in the same league
