    I find it very smart and enjoyable how Christian directed his videos. You cut to the chase like now one else. Content is great if course as usual.

    This is a lovely and generous project. Even the laziest blues jammer can follow this, I'll send him a link, I know him. Cheers.

    Not sure if you've already done this, but i'd love to see your take on a solo for this tune. Especially if it includes those loops from your other video. Professionals seem to stick to Django's solo pretty closely and it'd be cool to see new ideas. thanks for all of your great videos!

    Very helpful. As far as chord names: at 11:44 when you add the pinky you no longer have a Dim. I suppose it could be called an Abm13+5. Thanks for this.

      Thanks, It's actually a I diminished chord with a major 7 so Fdim∆!

      Hi - I see, if you change the root name to F. With the Ab you named I now see an Ab Dim w/+5 instead of -5. I like your Ab thinking. If it sounds good and you know how to play it, it probably doesn't matter what it's called. I think we're used to that sound and movement from a II - V - I in C! Thanks for the reply. Your videos give me insight as I have no GJ players around me. ...hope to do a solo act w/looper or backing tracks.

    Hi Christiaan. I want to begin by saying that I love your lessons and have been a fan since I sat in on one of your classes in DIJ 2016. With that, I have a sort of minor question. Am I correct in thinking that, in the turnaround (which you have as C7 to F7 back to Bb6/9) some players use a chromatic approach and play C7 to B7 to the Bb6/9? It sounds good to me and I was wondering what your opinion is on using this? I think B7 is a tritone sub of F7 but I'm not that sure of the theory. Thanks in advance.

    On my Iphone 5 I only hear the rhythm. I can’t hear any chord changes. Maybe it is better live. All I hear is scratching like the sound of the rub board in zydeco music

    Christiaan, that G7 you talk about at 6:40 has no G in it, but an A instead: xBFADx, can you help me understand why it works as a G7?

      that's a Bminor7 flat5. Raise the root a whole step on any major 7, Dom7 or Minor7th chord and you will get the substitution chord with the 3rd in the bass .Your substitution chord gives you a ninth sound. So: B-7b5 = G9 with the 3rd in the bass.

    • @ryierth
      @ryierth 8 місяців тому +1

      Oh@@douglasscharnberg3883 you mean it's a G9 with no root, "suggested" by the Bm7b5 because the B D F A are the 3, 5, b7 and 9 of G9? Thank you very much for this explanation!

    • @douglasscharnberg3883
      @douglasscharnberg3883 8 місяців тому

      @@ryierth from the 5th; the extention chord is a D minor/ major 7 or D minor 6 if you prefer and from the b7th it will be an F major 7b5 or #5 which ever you prefer. Glad I could help my friend!
