  • Horizon 7 0 AT treadmill - 7 weeks of use review - long term review - We have had this treadmill for 7 weeks now and have put on over 450 miles - how is the treadmill? Any issues? How good is it? Are we happy? Would we recommend it?
    We are definitely happy with the treadmill so far with no significant issues.

    I have this same exact treadmill. The deck split in half at around 8 months. Horizon honored the warranty and sent me the replacement parts for free and scheduled a local repair company to do the labor. The whole process took over a month to complete.

    Just bought this, and have been using your videos as confirmation that I didnt make a regrettable impulse buy. I got into zwift cycling with a sunny spin bike, and feel in love with swift immediately. I wanted to advance my cycling, so i took up running. I got a garmin 945 watch, hrm pro+, and some hoka shoes and took off outside. However, i live in south Louisiana and the heat and bugs are a nightmare. Couldnt take it anymore. It wasnt the mosquitos, but the deerflies. They are pure evil. I was basically shopping for any treadmill so i can get my butt back in the ac. I ordered 2 manual treadmills and canceled them both right after ordering due to doubts i could even use it how i intended. I'm glad i did. This connects directly to zwift, and it hits top speed, and hopefully will take the abuse. Im 6'3" 195lbs, so seeing you use this comfortably has me confident in my purchase. I did get the white glove treatment, so I'll let everyone know my results.

    Heather and Ted, thank you! I've had my 7.0AT for about a week and learned so much from your video. Question: the heartrate function on mine is sporadic at best and more often than not, unresponsive or reads inappropriate data. Any suggestions?

    • @BGRFamily
      @BGRFamily  2 роки тому

      We have not run into that issue and I'm not sure what might be causing it.
      The biggest issue that I would think could happen is the need to clean the sensors so you get good contact with your hands, but as you indicate you have only have the treadmill a week or so, so that seems unlikely to be the problem. Other thoughts would be to confirm the grip handle wires are plugged in firmly so there are no intermittent connections, and to make sure you are getting good grip on the sensors.
      Sorry I couldn't help more.
      Thanks for watching!

      Hi there - thanks for watching! What we picked up from Amazon Canada was www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0153WN84E/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - this is our first time using this product so I can't really say if it is great or bad, but no issues yet and the nozzle does work great for getting in and lubricating the deck / belt without having to loosen the belt.
      One thing to watch for is that this manufacturer doesn't put any kind of fill markings on the bottle so you wouldn't really know how much you used. What we did was mark the bottle with an indelible marker - we drew lines where the top of the fluid was and where the half way point to the bottom was. Then we drew lines half way between the lines, and so on until we had marks for 8 equal portions. Since this is a 4 ounce bottle that gave us marks for half ounces - and based on Horizon's lube instructions, you would use one half ounce each time you lube the treadmill, this made it easy for me to know how much I was using.
      I hope that helps!

    Thank you for the detailed review! Based upon your evaluation we recently purchased a Horizon 7.4. One question: You mentioned a special applicator to help reduce the time for lubricating the belt - can you provide a link to the tool you use?

    • @BGRFamily
      @BGRFamily  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching! It looks like the price has increased significantly since we got it last year but we use one of these www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0153WN84E/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
      The long nozzle will slide around half way across the deck under the belt - so I do it from both sides to make sure I get the full deck lubricated.
      There are also other tools that are more like a sponge on a stick that you put the lubricant on and then slide it between the belt and the deck to transfer to where it needs to go.
      Hope that helps!

    Did you have the common issue of the wiring harness snapping when using the incline? I want this treadmill but have been reading a lot of bad things

    • @BGRFamily
      @BGRFamily  2 роки тому +1

      Absolutely not. No issues at all.
      Based on what I had seen with various reviews, I only saw one person who had run it all the way to the max incline and the wire connector pulled out and he couldn't get it back in so the treadmill was stuck at the high incline - which, of course, would make it pretty useless. I had seen a similar issue on a previous treadmill we had many years ago and it just required removing one bolt that held the raising bar to the incline motor allowing the deck to be lowered back to the ground and the wiring harness to be re-attached. Then start the treadmill and reduce the incline to 0, at which point it should be possible to re-attach the bolt and everything on the treadmill would be back to normal. A quick fix but not everyone would be comfortable doing it.
      The one review I saw said that they also had issues getting the company to come and fix it - which is a concern. We have had one service call (worn belt, treadmill has been getting a lot of use) and the repair was quick and the service person was really good and professional. But they do subcontract out the repairs, so mileage there is likely to vary heavily.

    Can this treadmill withstand training for a half marathon, or marathon? Looking for something with decent cushioning that can withstand frequent use. Saw some reviews that stated this is better suited for walking, and jogging, not so much running. Any additional input would be appreciated.

    • @BGRFamily
      @BGRFamily  2 роки тому

      Absolutely it can handle that level of training. We have well over 1700 miles on it so far and it has been used daily. We have used it for runs in the 2 hour range with no issue. And we aren't light with me being in the 235 pound range - it never complained when I have tried 8mph sprints either.
      We find the cushioning to be really good without sucking the energy out of your legs that we found occurred with our old Nordictrack.
      Hope that helps, and good luck with your training!

    Do you need to plug it into a special outlet? I think we have a few plugs upstairs (where I need to put it) on the same fuse switch (or whatever it’s called).

    • @BGRFamily
      @BGRFamily  Рік тому

      It does use a standard outlet, but they recommend having it on its own unshared breaker/circuit. If you do end up having it on a shared circuit, you could end up tripping the breaker if there is a lot of power being drawn by other things that are plugged in when you are using the treadmill. That will be the case for any home style treamill.

      No, no issues for us. We have had other treadmills from the same parent company before and didn't have that issue with those either and they were based on the same platform.
      I saw one video from someone that had the issue and I think it is a relatively easy fix for someone mechanical from what I have see inside the unit's motor compartment - but they were having issues getting support which is not good, but we have had one trouble call for ours and the issue was fixed quickly and professionally - so we definitely have not had the same experience.

    This is probably a dumb question but how do you turn that treadmill off other than by using the switch near the power cord? When I get done with a manual run I pull the magnetic switch, hit the stop button, hold the stop button... an hour later the console is still lit up.

    • @BGRFamily
      @BGRFamily  Рік тому

      Interesting issue - I don't know of any other way to turn off the treadmill besides the power switch by the power cord. But ours does go to sleep after a while of no use - definitely goes dark in less than the hour you indicate. When I am done a run, I hold the stop button until it ends the workout and takes me to the select user screen and a while later it goes to sleep. When Heather is done she just presses stop and walks away and eventually the machine ends the workout on its own and then goes to sleep after a while. Sounds like you tried both of those options though, so I am not sure what is going on there...we certainly didn't have to set anything to make it happen.

    We just bought this treadmill about 2 months ago. One thing I noticed is that when unfolding the running platform, it goes down nice and smooth...until it's about 6 or so inches from the ground and then it slams down onto the floor. Does yours do the same? I called it in for a warranty replacement of the gas shock, but the replacement shock was even worse so I had the repair guy put the original one back.
    I've seen videos of other treadmill brands and they go down nice and smooth all the way from top...down to the floor.

      Manual mode is very good - that is pretty much all we use.
      We do not have any subscriptions - that is one of the main drivers for us getting this treadmill.
      Fan is only so-so - we use a full size floor fan when we are on the treadmill
      There is no dedicated 5mph button but it will go 5 mph, obviously, best thing to do is to hit the 4 mph button, and press the speed up to 5mph and then save that speed to one of the buttons on the handles. Would need to do this each time you start a new workout. Not the best but it is a work around if you need to jump speeds between something else and 5 mph.

      Depending on your weight, if you intend to do incline training, and a variety of other factors it might be overkill for walking and a less powerful machine might suit you better. But it is a very robust machine, so "overkill" might give you piece of mind that the machine will be able to handle whatever you throw at it.

      You have to use the AFG Pro app for that

    Hi Guys, wich motor is in ac or dc ? tnx!!!

    • @BGRFamily
      @BGRFamily  2 роки тому +1

      The the treadmill itself plugs into a standard 110v AC outlet - recommended to be on its own circuit. I do not know if the motor itself is AC directly or if the control board inside the unit rectifies the AC to DC for the motor.

      It has been good for us - we emailed their service email the two times we required something and they responded quickly.

    By any chance, was that company Sole?

      No, we have never tried a Sole machine- it was a Nordictrack.

      Nordictrack is the worst Threadmill ever. I had two of them and I didn’t learn. I look forward to buy the horizon 7.0. Thank you for the review!

    We’re does it tell me how many miles I walked

    • @BGRFamily
      @BGRFamily  11 місяців тому

      Do you mean for an individual workout or what you have done over time?
      For the current workout, the distance is shown on the large screen and also can be shown in the smaller set of displays. The smaller screen that is 2nd from the right hand side can show either distance or pace.
      Over time - I am not aware of any way to do that on this machine - on previous treadmills we have had, there was a maintenance mode you could get into that would show how many total miles have been put on the machine as a whole, but I do not know if this machine has that option or not. The downside there is that it would not split out the distance per user. We just keep small notepads by the treadmill that we update when we get off the treadmill.
      Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

    How do I rename the user name to my name instead of just ‘user 1’? I see you’ve done it. I’ve searched everywhere and can’t seem to find out how? Thanks in advanced

    • @BGRFamily
      @BGRFamily  2 роки тому +1

      It needs to be changed in the AFG app and the app will sync it to the machine. Thanks for watching!

      We have not personally tried it but the company's website indicates that it can be connected to Peloton, Zwift, and others.

    I can’t believe that I listened to a treadmill review for 30 minutes and you never once mentioned motor size.Especially since you are blowing thru treadmills - wouldn’t you think that was very imporyant

    • @BGRFamily
      @BGRFamily  2 роки тому +1

      It ties into the weight rating of the treadmills - and we have never blown a motor, just decks and belts.

      We have used it for a max of 1.5 hours at this point with no isuues. I have not seen documentation of max use time either. Hope that helps.
