- I used a double screen board to make a split on a 2 deep hive, the first queen failed to return so I added another cell and now its time to check to see if she is back, on the second hive I killed the queen and made splits with some of the brood and added a cell to the remaining brood, first one failed now its time to check the second. #makingsplits, #livestock #howtomakesplits #howtomakequeens

I’m less then 5 mins in and you are one of my favorites already! Love the confidence you are showing around the bees. Good direct explanations of what you are seeing. Really love how real you are. Smoker goes out you just re light it. You say it’s nectar and you don’t edit it out you just note it the you meant syrup. Keep posting more videos ❤!
Thank you very much for the comment. Glad you liked it.
Always love that unknown when we go in and see that brood and larvae when we know they were successful in requeening. Great looking raised beds!!
Thanks Mike
I liked that intro video. Thanks for the garden sneak peek. Good health Brad and God bless 👍
Thanks Houston.
Nice pattern. Love it when a plan comes together. Take care
Thanks
You made it look so easy catching that queen. I will have to practice like someone said below on practicing catching drones!
That's how I started , works good. Gives you a feel of how hard to hold them without hurting. Thanks for watching.
That hive looks fantastic, sometimes, second time's the charm 🙂As for the queenless mean hive, I would shake it out too, let em drift to other hives and save the comb.
I will start a garden too. Ordered some Squash seed last winter (Hopi Pale Gray squash) but the cold killed the seeds during delivery 😥. So plan B was growing Kabocha squash, kept a bunch of seeds from the ones I ate.
Sorry we came in late during the premier... But Congratulations on the one queen!
I'd just let that fussy bunch die off. Start over with some of your best stock and have the calm genetics your looking for.
Thanks for sharing and God bless!
Thanks you guys are great.
I’m always scared to grab the queen by the legs for marking in case I pull one off. You made that look so easy!
I also laughed at your mean bees comment….we all have these we need to get rid of!
If you don't grab all of one side she can spin and break one loose, thanks for watching Eddy .
Oh my god, that queen is huge!
Yes she is one of the largest I have, hope she is well mated. Thanks for watching.
I had one colony last year that time you opened the box they were all over you. I moved the box to the end of the bee yard and shook every frame on the ground. let the bees find a new home on their own. scattered out the frames of brood to other colonies.
Think that’s what I’m going to do , thanks for watching.
That girl looks to been going to town for a while and I'm up here in the great white north still waiting for spring to take hold.
Weather is crazy this year we back to cool weather here. Thanks for watching.
Want to become good at picking up a Queen? Practice on catching drones, by the wings. Then you can property pickup the queens by the WINGS > This is the right way. Way i do it is go for the sides and slide my finger over top and clamp down on her wings! It does take some practice
Thanks for the info.
I think you could add one box to a hive with newspaper between them. That's what I did on a mean hive before a laying worker could take over.
that's a great idea thanks
