      Dubias grow sooooo sloooowly though. I prefer red runners

      @@blackvenom6669 No Dubia Roaches are actually very clean and parasite resistant.

      When I was a kid I had a container full of garter snakes (maybe around 6), walked into the house to show my mom how many snakes I caught, tripped, and we didn’t find a few for weeks.

    Best tip that you left out … is use isopods for the smell . Regardless if you keep the crickets alive it’ll make a huge difference trust me

      @@Tina_1234_ I don’t see why not just make sure they seem healthy enough … maybe breed the iso pods and throw the babies in and not the actual wild caught to eliminate any sickness that the wild ones may have had if you want to be safe, but they are isopods so I doubt they are attracted to the same poisons homeowners spray

      The reason people breed crickets specifically to feed to their pets is because wild ones could have chemicals or pesticides, or even worse diseases or nasty work parasites that are longer than a pencil

    I actually fed my gecko some crickets and they laid eggs in the substrate, I don’t normally leave food in I usually feed with tweezers but I was going away and had nobody who would do what I do with feeding they’d only do the water. Fast forward 2/3weeks I have baby crickets and they didn’t stay in the viv, so are they gonna survive? I hope not. I dealt with the ones in viv and froze the substrate, but as for the house 😩 it’s very warm in the house too during this heatwave in the U.K.

    Do you know if your way of sustaining them is safe for human consumption once it gets to the second generation? Or is there some sort of special place to buy them or THING to buy that makes them safe? My family and I plan on breeding and roasting them to eat

      I have a cricket farm here, every day I raise 70 kg (about 154 lbs). It's sad because I only sold 2.2 lbs = 2$

    I have baby crickets in my enclosure from feeding grown crickets to my turtle ,when I saw the little baby cricket today I had to see if crickets multiply or something

      Oh yeah that happens sometimes. They will either die off or the turtle will eat them.

    Is it safe to use a heat mat under a massive plastic bin where I house all
    My crickets or will it catch fire , I don’t have a thermostat and I’m not sure , but as you said you need additional heating for maximal results and to speed up the process . Also I have all adult crickets in the bin with plenty of food and hydration but because they are all adults , how do I know what to do about when they will lay eggs and stuff ?

    How often do you put in the container of dirt ? Should it go In daily? Should you separate it since crickets can eat the babies?

      I leave it in for a couple days then when I visually see the eggs. They look like little rice stuffed in the sides. I take it out make sure it’s moist not swampy and put a lid on it.

    How often should you clean their poop? Since feeding them a lot will of course cause that?
    Any wet paper towel or will the moisture from the carrots and greens suffice?

      I have isopods in the container so they eat the poop up. You can do a cleaning of the cage like once every 3 months though

      A place for them to crawl around on. It is shelter for them and allows more space to run around on so they don’t stress out and attack each other

    Firstly, keep ure cricket tubs clean and free of excessive moisture , that's the number 1 killer of crickets .

      The soil is probably around mid 70s I do take old food out every two day

      How about the substrate? Research says it’s best to use vermiculite. I know you said soil. How often or would it even be possible to change cricket substrate?

      @@sirslapsalot726 vermiculite works great but soil is good for isopods that will eat up any dead crickets and poop and you will have no smell at all

      Yes you definitely can and they will however mine still manage to hatch no matter what. I feel like it keeps me to a healthy number. Don’t want huge amounts

      I was told to fix this problem you have to add more hiding spots since the smaller crickets get eaten by the larger ones they need more places to hide

      Preferably not an open cup of water because they would drown so what you can do is clean up some smaller rocks outside and place them in a dish of water and try to cover up spots where crickets and get stuck and drown

    Their poop stinks as well. If you want your crickets to smell less bad from the poop, feed them oranges

      Patatoe are poisonous bro
      Feed them carrots,lettuce,fish flakes or frog food and make sure you renove everything thats uneaten after a day or two
      Basically lots of green and something on the side i really love carrot and lots of lettuce

    I actually can't stand them and are one of the feeders I rarely buy. It's the noise they make! I can't think, or sleep with them making all the racket they do. They will always stink!

      @@ChiefSweetsUniverse right in front of my house front wall there is "U" shaped cement ditch that is about 1 meter wide,im planning to put it above that ditch,in front of it there is rural street that is about 3 meter wide,and in front of that street there is row of houses,the distance of my house to my neighbor house in front of my house is probably just 5 meter,what about that

      A good variety is key for reptiles plus my tarantulas legit only want crickets for some reason. So works out but I do also breed multiple species of roaches
