Thank you for making this video. I was frustrated trying to figure out how to do it on my own. You have saved my sanity and made my little one very happy!
Good video, But one problem I have with this is that some of the sub channels I get in my area are gone, After re scanning. They are still gone. PBS World and kids and the Cw Network. Maybe Roku hates these channels. IDK, LOL. But I have a HDhomerun extend and have to use that to watch those 3 or 4 channels I cant get. Happy New Year NH
@@RobbieStrike Happy New Year Robbie! I wonder how strong the tuners are in these Roku TV’s, especially since you’re receiving them with the HDHomerun. OTA seems to be an afterthought for Roku TV’s with the big emphasis on streaming.
@NorthcoasterHobby I've had one for quite a few years now and I feel like they've gone a step backwards because they added EPG guide which sometimes gets the channels wrong. And for a long time they made that hard to work. I still think it's usable. But still prefer some of my older TVs for its atsc tuner on it. But for the tuner I think it's fairly decent for compared to other TVs that I have used. But I have this old dysx TV I got it Future Shop which is like a small TV and it has an amazing over-the-air atsc tuner on it
@@RobbieStrike Yeah- I have older ATSC TV’s that have outstanding tuners, in particular older ones made by Toshiba and Samsung. I have a Dynex from Best Buy and it is also a great tuner. The Roku TV’s EPG guide is probably supplied online and not from the broadcast signal, and if the sub-channels change, then the online EPG guide that is provided might not necessarily be updated as channels change. Overall the Roku TV’s are pretty decent but are not optimized for OTA television.
There is no built-in antenna. An external TV antenna is required. That can be amplified, however. There are a few options: An indoor antenna amplifier, thought these are not as effective as other options: ua-cam.com/video/7zJNybfZ_AU/v-deo.htmlsi=zwl-8E8USHFJCejS An indoor distribution amplifier such as one of these: ua-cam.com/video/TX83X08sYNs/v-deo.htmlsi=DSKWTbclgGKLpOVN ua-cam.com/video/EMy1j5k_cKo/v-deo.htmlsi=RaxU7ZluJMUL_u9g Or a preamplifier, which is an outdoor amplifier mounted at the antenna: ua-cam.com/video/tFPGJM7Kqaw/v-deo.htmlsi=tOpbsv4msRd9HDvL Keep in mind the antenna is the major factor in the reliability of OTA signals. The mounting location, height, antenna design and obstructions between the broadcast signal and you location all determine how well signals will be received. Outdoor antennas are best.
Yo tuve un tv cin sistema roku y lo regale ppr eso mismo no entendía el porque hicieron eso obligarte a tenerlo juntos para mi es insoportable roku debería d cambiar esa configuración y separar los d aire free de los d trasmisión

Thanks! I like this much better than making the OTA all fovorites. I'll be doing this for my tech challenged Mom.

f roku! when I pay my money, no one said it is not possible/very complicated to watch the OTA channels! f roku!
What I did was make the OTA channels my favorites. I like this way much better! I'll be doing this on my Mom's TV, she's tech challenged.
Is there any way to boost the built-in antenna?
There is no built-in antenna. An external TV antenna is required. That can be amplified, however. There are a few options:
An indoor antenna amplifier, thought these are not as effective as other options:
ua-cam.com/video/7zJNybfZ_AU/v-deo.htmlsi=zwl-8E8USHFJCejS
An indoor distribution amplifier such as one of these:
ua-cam.com/video/TX83X08sYNs/v-deo.htmlsi=DSKWTbclgGKLpOVN
ua-cam.com/video/EMy1j5k_cKo/v-deo.htmlsi=RaxU7ZluJMUL_u9g
Or a preamplifier, which is an outdoor amplifier mounted at the antenna:
ua-cam.com/video/tFPGJM7Kqaw/v-deo.htmlsi=tOpbsv4msRd9HDvL
Keep in mind the antenna is the major factor in the reliability of OTA signals. The mounting location, height, antenna design and obstructions between the broadcast signal and you location all determine how well signals will be received. Outdoor antennas are best.
All you have to do is put locals in the favorites category. problem solved. that's what I did
My Tommy tv don’t have the same options

Sí, creo que es mejor separar los canales de streaming de los canales de retransmisión.
Thanks! This is very helpful.

do not buy any roku ever!!!
It’s still an excellent device. The OTA section needs some work though.

I like the Roku devices, but they could make OTA television channels easier to access.
