  • Dr. Shabir Ally discusses the criteria for prophets according to Christianity, focusing on Deuteronomy 18:14-18 which mentions a prophet like Moses. Dr. Shabir explains that while Moses spoke directly to God, it's not a universal criterion for prophets. He elaborates on the Islamic perspective, stating that Prophet Muhammad did speak to God through revelation. The conversation also explores interpretations from both the Old and New Testaments regarding the awaited prophet, with Dr. Shabir suggesting that Muhammad fulfills the criteria outlined in Deuteronomy. He concludes by highlighting similarities between Jesus, Moses, and Muhammad, indicating that Muslims have valid reasons to believe in Muhammad as a prophet.

As a Christian, I’ve always respected Shabir Ally but Acts 3:11-26 is about Peter preaching to his fellow Israelites and claiming that Jesus is the One the prophets talked about including Deuteronomy 18:18.
Peter is NOT saying that they should wait for another prophet but rather Jesus is the One Moses prophesied about so they should accept Him.

Let's reason together. God Almighty commands that in the very scriptures which you profess to uphold and believe in.
      Be humble. Be honest.
      Acts 3:21-23
👉 🚩 Jesus is *not* the Prophet of Deuteronomy 18 V 18. The Bible testifies.
Jesus MUST remain in heaven UNTIL *The Prophet* who is foretold in the scriptures, to come after Jesus, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon them both) has arrived and delivered his message of *all truth* to the people. Only after that can Jesus be sent back for his second coming.
      ACTS 3
20 that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus,
21 *whom heaven must receive until the time for restoring all the things about which God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago* . 22 Moses said, ‘The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from YOUR (The Is-ra-el-ites') brothers. You shall listen to him in whatever he tells you.
23 Then Moses said, ‘Anyone who will not listen to that Prophet will be completely cut off from God’s people.’

Jesus Christ the Messiah (peace be upon him) was taken to Heaven by Lord/God/TheCreator because some wanted him dead, so God saved him (be patient, continue reading, you will see ''the matrix'', upto you to escape it).
The word christ comes from the Greek word 'christos' meaning chosen/annointed (annointment is the act of chosing)
the word messiah comes from the Arabic/Hebrew word 'messiach', again meaning chosen.
Jesus did not speak Greek or Arabic or Hebrew, he spoke Aramaic.
    John 14:28
“I go to the Father, for the Father is greater than I”
    John 20:17
'‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”
    John 5:30
"I cannot do anything on my own."
    Mark 10:18
''Why do you call me good? No one is good, except God alone.''
(that ''father'' does not mean flesh and bone father, rather TheGuide/God,
worship TheCreator/TheGuide/TheGod and not the prophets, peace be upon them all)
    So, Who chose Jesus?
    TheCreator/TheGod/TheLord did.
    To do what?
To convey that there is TheCreator/TheGod/TheLord and only ThatSupreme power should be worshipped and prayed to and NO idols/conjured up god/s by human kind,
be it a man, a spirit of a man, a sun, a star, a moon, a tree, an animal etc etc be worshipped in any way.
Anything that is worshipped besides TheGod is a god, that is false god, hence with a small ''g''.
There is one Creator, hence why TheGod, the only One deserving of worship.
What does Allah mean as a word?
    It means TheCreator/TheGod/TheLord.
What does ''elaah'' mean as a word?
It means any idol or conjured up god or gods that are false and do not deserve worship of any kind, hence why Islam rejects all gods but TheGod/TheCreator/TheLord/Allah.
Why are all religions in opposition of Islam?
Because they have a god or many gods but TheGod that is worshipped in someway or another.
Have you ever read a Quran from start to finish?
That you can answer for your self.
(I recommend the Sahih International english translation, it's good).
    Best wishes.
    -------------------------------
    .....btw.....
Jesus did preach to worship the OneGod/TheCreator and not anything else, and so did his followers, peace be upon them all.
This unsettled the Roman Empire because this idea of Monotheism went against their pagan beliefs where the emperor was both emperor and god. They persecuted the followers of Jesus and even attempted to kill Jesus, even a Roman Empire servant Saul of Tarsus was out to kill Jesus.
Saul never managed to meet Jesus in real life but after Jesus was taken up to Heaven Saul said he saw a dream and said he will now preach the teachings of Jesus. Saul of Tarsus is also known in todays christianity as Saint Paul, so todays christians are actually on the teaching of ''Saint'' Paul which brings in trinity and godhead figure of Jesus and rejects Monotheism.
-Jesus was commanded to preach Monotheism, which he did and early followers were Monotheistic (Islamic) believing people, which later changed with the Roman Empires paganism spreading
-Jesus was commanded to preach ONLY to the Israelites, which he did, but after him Saul of Tarsus aka ''saint Paul'' started to preach to the Gentiles, which is the foundation of todays christiandom.
-Jesus was commanded to rule for the circumsicion which he did, but it was taken out after he left
-Roman Empire in 325 AD held a council, with empire alligned 'scholars'' to decide and VOTE on whether Jesus was to be worshipped or not, they VOTED that Jesus be accepted as god (in aliagn with the pagan beliefs of the Roman traditions) and ever since the trinity became the 'christian way' (not what Jesus preached), and sinc that time the Church has chronicled how many times the ''Bible'' has been changed, verses removed and verses added to SUIT this altered idea of trinity!

This is not how muslim view the current situation, whatever suffering and killing is been predestined by god, every life of human on earth is a test. Some tested by wealth, some tested by greed, some tested via suffering.
And say not of those who are slain in God's cause, "They are dead": nay, they are alive, but you perceive it not [2.154].

Moses didn't see God on their meeting but he heard God speaking.
God has no image and any image that comes to mind then that is not God.
That also would be for the prophet because no one speak to God but there is a shield that no one can see God.
Moses requested to see God on their meeting with God but God told him that you can't see me but look at that rock and when God reveals would see . But because of the light intensity the rock shuttered and Moses falls bowing to the ground asking God forgiveness.
    No one will see God.

It is so very "christian" to continually focus on a single answer being the one and only truth and everything else is wrong. Further, there is always contention about who and what a prophet is. I am so very grateful to a Merciful God that I was exposed to a faith where the final determination is between myself and God. What makes this an even greater blessing is that there are intelligent and gifted folks here that can help me with my progress with light touches rather than heavy-handedness.

That is because he isn't a prophet. No prophet affirmed his message variants from the prior message that the Quran itself claims it affirms.
And according to authentic Muslims sources, Muhammad gave the satanic verses which Deuteronomy says comes with a dead penalty if a prophet does such behavior Deut. 18:20. The Quran 22:52 confesses that this happened.

Asalaamu Walykum Jazak Allah that was a comforting listen in difficult times.
Firstly, Jesus cannot come back as a giver of the Law because He already said that not one jot nor one tattle will be changed. (Matthew 5:18) End argument. What you are therefore unquestionably dealing with is a new religion with different Laws.
The quote you gave there from Deuteronomy is different from the version that I have had since I was born. Mine says:- "The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;"
I note that it is assumed or stated that the Prophet will come from amongst the Israelites in many modern translations of the original. However, I refer back to the answer I gave above that, as far as Israel was concerned, Jesus was the final word so I am not sure when the idea of the brethren specifically being Israelites came into things? The word brethren can also mean spiritual brothers since both peoples were descendant from Abraham (as).
We know that Prophet had not appeared at the time of John The Baptist and Jesus since John was asked if He was that Prophet and He said that He was not. (John 1:21)
I know there are a great number of people who do not want Prophet Muhammad (saw) to be that Prophet but it is literally the only thing that makes sense and especially considering the promise made to Hagar of a nation too numerous to count through her son, Ishmael (as). They would not be Jews and they cannot be Christians who have no claim to be descendant from His line. I have a question mark about why God claimed to be the God of Abraham (as), the God of Isaac(as) and the God of Jacob(as) but didn't mention Ishmael (as) despite the promise He made through the angel to Hagar (pbuh). I have various thoughts going through my head on that one but the main one is because Islam was specifically meant to be an entirely separate people. Any comments on that would be welcome.
So we have a new argument that it was the Law itself which proves Islam is a true religion through the line of Ismael (as)
Let's see if the Bible passages change because of that! 🙄
    Asalaam

To understand why Jesus is the prophet spoken of by Moses, you have to go back to Deuteronomy 6 verse 4 where Moses said "hear o' Israel the Lord our God is one" and the word "one" is "echad" and it's a term of compound unity in that verse, the same way a sports team made up of more than one player says they are "one". That verse was not fully brought to light in the earth until Jesus, the Light of the world (John 8 verse 12) said "I and the Father are one" (John 10 verse 30). Jesus was known as "the Word" and "the Light" in scripture because He is not simply a messenger, He is THE MESSAGE of the Father. The true Word of God is a person, Jesus, and the true written word is the book that contains the prophecies of Jesus, the word who became flesh and dwelt among us (John chapter 1). The Bible is the word of God, my friends.

Shabir the book of Deuteronomy doesn't talk about Muhammad, even the verse you have mentioned i.e.Acts 3 ,Peter is explaining that it is Jesus Christ Acts 3:21-24 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.
Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.

Humbly, "a prophet" are not "prophets", it actually means what it says, "an individual." The new Jarome biblical commentary is a "commentary", not the words of the prophesy. Just be honest and deal with the text as it is written.

Muhammad pbuh talked directly with Allah at time of his Meraj, not only talked he was allowed to get to Allah's house. No other prophet was allowed to fo it.
Muhammad pbuh was mercy for whole universe, all other prophets were prophets of their own community.
Prophet Muhammad pbuh was final and last prophet whose Sunday will be official law upto day of judgement, no other prophet's message is valid anymore.
Prophet Muhammad pbuh is prophet of prophets, he was the imam of all prophets in a Salah before miraj.

Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him did speak to Allah SWT on his night journey, he was given direct five times daily prayer from Allah SWT directly . Initially he was given fifty times daily prayer but went back to Allah SWT and asked him to reduce it and Allah SWT eventually reduced to five daily prayers from fifty daily prayers. Drutonomy 18:18 perfectly matches with Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. For example Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and Prophet Moses peace be upon him, both of them had natural birth (Jesus peace be upon him had miraculous birth). Secondly Prophet Muhammad and Moses peace be upon them both had mother and father but Jesus had mother only. Prophet Muhammad and Moses peace be upon them were able to establish divine laws and lead their nations successfully but Jesus peace be upon him were not able to do that. Prophet Muhammad and Moses peace be upon them, both of them had natural death but Prophet Jesus peace be upon him will be sent back on earth and after forty years of reign he will have natural death (narrated by the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him). Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him never said anything out of his own desire or will, he uttered the words only when he was asked to utter . And he uttered everything in the name of Allah SWT (mind you that is the criteria in Drutonomy 18:18) and Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him perfectly matches the criterion set out in Drutonomy 18: 18. Let me give you some advice to all our Christian and Jewish brothers and sisters, since the Advent of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and the revelation revealed to him from the God all the teachings of the previous Prophets have simply become null and void. You have to follow the Prophet of your time and Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him is the last and final Prophet, he is the Prophet of our time and his teachings have to be followed to attain salvation. There's no other way to get Paradise. I must also tell you brothers Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and Prophet Moses peace be upon him were cousins, both of them were descendants from the Prophet Abraham peace be upon him. Which is why Islamic faith is also called the Abramic faith. Therefore brothers think seriously before it's too late. Jazakumullah Khairan

The evidence for the existence of God is zero. It is, therefore, not warranted to assume the existence of a being called "God". Those who do it nonetheless are outside of scholarly exchange.

When God's angels are sent to earth to speak with a chosen person it is God who is speaking with through the angel. Revelation 1:1 is a revelation by Yehoshua Christ that God gave to him..... and he sent forth his angel and presented what was to come in signs given to John the Apostle. The Angel Gabriel spoke with the Prophet Muhammad and asked what will be the sign of the end. ... the Prophet Muhammad replied.. It will be when a slave 'lady' gives birth to her Master. An ancient parchment claiming to be an original has these worlds written. If a woman did not give birth to her Master being the King and Anointed of Yahuveh God then there is no hope.
All religion teach no hope because all religions refuse to accept the truth that this proclamation is what is true and I am that woman who gave birth to a Son a Male who wil Shepherd the earth with an iron rod. That Son was caught up to Heaven as foretold in Revelation 12:5 exactly as written. But religious bureaucrats refuse to see truth that must be made known to the world before the world is saved from destruction ... etc..

As Dr Shabir Ally has told us on past debate shows, Mohammed used whatever information he had at his disposal (knew about from Jewish and Christians scripture including apocryphal material) as his source for verses (later known as Quran). Consequently, Shabir Ally knows the Quran is not from God but it is a shame why he is holding onto the false religion Islam.

    Juan 16:7?

Dr. Shabir, You say God is not like a man. Yet your explanation of Prophet Muhammad talking to God depics God as human who seated somewhere in a location. By saying humans can't speak to God unless behind a veil, it simply means God is a physical being located somewhere. I disagree with that.
