It has a 20% duty cycle, clearly advertised and listed in spec list. This means if you run it for 2 min, it needs an 8 min cool down before using it again. The experienced welder should have known about this idea
this one failed very quickly, if you check my videos i bought a replacement model and used it to replace a panel on my jeep and that one overall worked great. First one was defective for sure.
Something else you may want to know about these is to have a look at the ground. Check out a video by Caseys Customs to see what issues he had. He found the ground was not done well, so he cut it shorter, and put a better connection to the clamp. That improved the welder exponentially.
I would just stick with a buzzbox. The new stick welders are smaller now in design, the size of a lunch box. The size of the head on that unit from temu is also a concern for puddle control. I laughed when I first saw these come out.
I have a precursor to this thing (oddly enough by Eastwood Kelarc )and it only works at a fixed settng of 50amps no adjustment. Cant easily strike an arc with anything over 2.0mm I think that is by design for a reason though as the hole to fit the rods is really tight and only 1.6mm fit with any ease SO looking at some ancient manual images I could see the rods were really thin which kind of confirmed it. I tried 1.6mm E6013 rods and it worked very well making a few butt welds on very thin metal 0.9mm which is all I needed to test its capability. I dont think I would every do continuous line welds with it. Reduce the size of the rod and time on small jobs and it should be ok although this TEMU one isnt gonna perform any better I am guessing than at THAT level of limited sized rods and amperage. I cant see it being any good for any task where you are welding for long periods of time but Im guessing that was the idea behind its design. Fascinating clip thank you for sharing it!
Seems to be conflicting between you too. Not sure why the clip is names "...why you don't buy...". So it broke, get it replaced, it's under warranty. Amazon sells them too. For an occasional user doing light work this handheld welder can come in very handy.

The consequence of this, you must use the device for 5 minutes, and let it cool for one hour. Most electric devices coming from "the far east" use a similar scam technique. The next welding machine will fail all the same.
this isnt a scam. It's labelled "Duty cycle" on every tool used/made in the united states. This isnt intended to be a professional grade welder... if you have tools with a continuous duty cycle you spent 10x what he spent on this welder on every one of them

It welded very clean beads, but since I had the power cranked up to max, it kept tripping the circuit breaker in my fuse panel. But now that I know it works, I will buy some smaller rods and go from there. I bought this for when I am Hunting/camping because I was stranded hours away from home in a very secluded area in North East Ontario where there is no cell phone connection and traffic is as rare as chickens teeth. I am quite happy with its performance.

I had same experience. Mine worked for 5 minutes. Return request accepted. Would be useful to figure out how this goe wrong, maybe could simply fix it. I was let mine rest for days, but never worked again.
Mine works Great iv welded alot with it with no Problem at all , couple of guys i know have sinced ordered one after the seen me weld with mine. I also am a Advanced welder for 38 years so that helped also.

From 90% of what I've seen online, that face shield is a step up (professional welders mask) normally the videos you see of Indians, Chinese and Thai etc they use their hand or a piece of cardboard.... Some even just close their eyes 😂.... And trust me when I say I've had arc eye when I was young making a go kart thought I only need to do a couple tacks... Well I can tell you it's one of the most painful things I've experienced, it feels like having crushed glass in your eyes with a sprinkling of chilli powder.... I cried like a little pussie and the drive to the hospital was terrifying, my wife was sketchy as frigg coz I had an auto and shed never driven on nd was using 1 foot for the brake nd 1 for the gas....luckily the doc lady was sympathetic to my pathetic crying and sent me home with a few days supply of numbing eye drops wich is all u can do, lay in the dark till your burst retinas heal😂😅😂.... KIDS.... DON'T DO DRUGS.... OH YH AND DON'T WELD WITHOUT A MASK.... 😂EVEN IF IT'S JUST A FEW TACKS🤦🤷

That was the rod that came with the unit itself. I did get another welder later on, and ran it with a few different rods and it finished the job on my jeep no problem. Checkout the channel, its a green version of the same thing.
The giving away thing is basically a scam, they will ask you to go through questions, then share a special link to a ton of people you know and in the end you likely wont get anything for free. Also after looking the cheapest version of this welder i can find on all of temu is 62$, if you see one for 10 though please send me the link to my Instagram in messages. The "Free" works like this. FIrst you pay 90 ish for the welder, then, if you buy another 90 bucks worth of product they will give you a 90 dollar credit on your account to buy more chinese crap. so you pay around 180 bucks for 270 bucks worth of crap. That, to them means the welder was 'free' (sort of like their people are 'free'... sorry couldn't resist, there goes my social cred rating in china.)

Honestly, what's going on (or more accurately into) in regard to your retinas during that admittedly super brief propagation delay between arc establishment & full darkening? Where do you live that you have 110 volt outlets? In the US they are 120v. Claiming to be a welder...that's the shittiest weld I have ever seen...at least clean the metal first!

So I have one and it paid for itself an hour out of the box doing a little tap-weld to resecure an errant spring on a True Cooler.

Let it cool overnight, its toast. Less than 5 minutes total welding time and it was all spaced out even in the time it was used.

Replace grounding clamp with better or magnetic unit. Shorten grounding cable a bit too. Other videos cover this issue. It’s still a good tool to use.
I would but both temu welders died. The second one lasted a lot longer but still died.
U doubt the glass used for stick welding for hundreds of years, you cant weld stick with normal settings on electric masks.
I doubt that the sticks were in great condition due to humidity effecting the weld quality. Especially since my welds are not great as it is.
I just bought one from TEMU here in Canada for $82. No face shield, 3 J422 electrodes. I'll be using 6013 rods 5/64 or 2mm, to test it soon.
Let me know how it goes, i did make an update video with the new one and it worked really well.

It would need to be a specific variant for 240v, These are built for 110-120
