honestly I guessed that match gold 2 lmao I dunno why everyone was dunking on that one in particular. The tech skill did seem a little shaky yeah but there were a lot of habits I wouldn't expect from super new players
as a plat player i felt like i had a really good read on the player elo in the silver to gold range, i think you're just too good and far removed from the elo trench warfare players to guess correctly ahah
Nice video :) Hopefully you can have guests on, maybe competing against each other. Harstem does this for Rank Roulette (starcraft 2) and its a very popular series.
I hope you do more of these videos cuz it's fun to see how different people play at different levels. These are much lower effort compared to some of your other series so I hope you make more of these.
The only one of these i guessed accurately is the fox falco one because i know what level which fox options start poppin out. Dude looked to comfy with his follow ups, fox isnt allowed to be comfy with anything until hes some local players bracket demon
Great idea for a video! For some of those clips it’s not too obvious for the audience which player you’re trying to guess their rank, so maybe you could either mention out loud which player or add some text onto the screen
Amazing concept. I think videos like this are the future of melee, look at videos like guessing rocket league or csgo ranks. This could really boost melee’s playerbase.
LOL I knew my replay would throw you off. Just some context, the opponent was ranked higher than me (I recognized their tag) and it was game 3. We both played so nervous lol. Spaghetti everywhere
Hi Ginger, Nokokopuffs did an apex ranked guide awhile back going through each rank, what it means if you're there, and what it takes to climb out. It was a great ranked series of videos and i was wondering if you would be interested of doing anything like that? Currently silver looking to climb out :)
As a chess player, I've been playing slippi online, and I can tell you 100% the ELO system is broken. There's no visible record of games, the confidence intervals in rating aren't computed properly when considering the number of matches. There's also tiers of bots in every category that are not labeled as such. Particularly, the low end of the ELO range is squished far too down. ELO systems theoretically still work in the low ranges, see chess for example. You can tell apart a 900 vs a 1100, even though they are both complete garbage. And yet, in Slippi, everyone below a certain threshold basically has a 600 rating. And a 600 or lower rating has no predictive power over the match results -- even when we obviously could have predictive power. Finally, the last thing I want to say, is that I beat someone in rated, and refreshed their profile until the loss actually posted on their profile. But guess what? His number of losses never changed from before our rated match. and yes, I was streaming to Twitch at the time, and it gave a very negative look onto Slippi. The fact that matches are not posted on someone's profiles, and there's just a counter for W/L that does not update within 15 minutes of the successful completion of a matc is just absolutely disgusting technology. There needs to be an overhaul from a new team, hopefully with people that are more in tune with working ELO systems (see chess for example). Or education and a complete rehaul of slippi from its own developers, but I have a feeling they won't want to do that, and rather ride the success of melee and their shitty W/L counters into financial success. It's really quite frustrating, coming from someone who plays chess online daily for completely free, and their ELO ranking system is quite far more advanced than Slippi's, and works to show all games visibly as well. Slippi fucking blows and I will be cancelling my subscription before the next month bills.
Yo, love this format. If you want to develop it further, I recommend looking at Harstem's SC2 Rank Roulette. Some of the most popular starcraft personality content.
I need help. How do you reduce the gap between your good day and bad day playing? I can easily get to plat on a good day (I've never played long enough on a good day to see where I peak cuz it takes 2 hours to climb back up there so i take a break), and I can as easily drop to silver 1 on a bad day. THAT'S OVER 700 ELO DIFFERENCE.
@@TheGamer801 Thanks for the tips. I've been playing for about 5 years now, Falco always. On bad days, 80% of the time I lose neutral is for a technical reason. Missing a fast fall (then of couse the L-cancel, etc.), or missing the L-cancel strait up, or inputing a dash a frame early so it doesn't come out, dry lasers, extra SD for no reason. I can play a 2 hour session and not SD once, then the next day I AVERAGE more than 1 SD per game. Where I get confused is on some days I don't have these issues at all. So subconsciously I do have the timing down, but some days it click and some it doesn't...
bro called a marth who ken combo'd a silver 1 almost bronze LMAOOOO Whenever a marth ken combos that is GUARANTEED & PATENTED SILVER 3+ status, come on fam.. LOL
cool idea for a video! but honestly should keep the clips to under 20 seconds. and just focus on guessing the rank names. (silver 1, plat 2) guesing the rating number isnt what ur target audience is thinking of. good luck
Even Mango could look like a silver 2 Falco if I look at a specific 20 second segment. There’s a lot of ideas I have for future Guess the Elo’s that I think will keep it engaging though :)
That marth being gold one is the most marth thing ever lmao
Maybe Bobby has a point when he says marth players are carried 🤔
@@urallnoobs8943 there is certainly a kernel of truth hiding in his salt lol that character carry shit only goes so far tho
I was thinking the same thing lmao. Only a marth could play so shit and be ranked that high.
honestly I guessed that match gold 2 lmao I dunno why everyone was dunking on that one in particular. The tech skill did seem a little shaky yeah but there were a lot of habits I wouldn't expect from super new players
I would have said the same about the Gold 3 Falco lol, they were GAMING
as a plat player i felt like i had a really good read on the player elo in the silver to gold range, i think you're just too good and far removed from the elo trench warfare players to guess correctly ahah
the trench warfare holds so true. im stuck in silver
"He shortened but not in a good way" will be my new falco slogan
I hope this becomes a series. This is fascinating.
Great format, would love to see this as a series
24:00 Ginger discovers ELO hell is real

First Ginger vid I've seen, I like the vibe
Dair>shine>dair>shine "that was a decent combo"
I was waiting for a guess the ELO from you tbh, glad to see it :)
yoo i'd love to see this be a series
6:36 i'm proud I was in the chat and got it right with silver 3
my boy ginger actually taking advantage of the ranked content.

Y’all were trolling on that last one
Such a smart content idea

I would love to see this with other top players as guests, that would be sick.

I fluctuate between gold 2-3 and I knew you were at least gold 3 at minimum. I guessed Plat 1.
Thats the one I was most surprised by the take on!
I am like 99% positive the Falco in the first clip is me and I will follow up on this tomorrow to see if I have the vod to see
Not gonna lie, last one really felt like Gold 3 - Plat 1
And he sacrificed... The STOCK!
Loved it but I'd like to see a recap either at the end or on each guess to see the previous rank/guess differentials
Bro at first I thought my quality was weird but it was just zoomed in xD
This is a great content idea. Keep doing it.
Fun format, definitely needs some time for ELOs to adjust
Love this idea for melee
Insane that nobody else (including you!) picked this idea up, ripe for a bountiful content harvest.
LOVE this series!!!
I guessed the first 3 correct but there was no hope for me once above-gold player were introduced

i want to see that last falco play vs floaties xD
Anyone know the music used during the falco ditto at 10:10 ?
Marths auto rank up 2 tiers just because its marth
as a silver 3 player I have played that second falco before lol, joe vibin

I'm guessing 1850 again for the falco fox match
1450 is way too low. just pressing a lot of buttons fast and technically will get you super high
This was really fun to watch, I'd love to see more. but fr, that last falco was gold??????????????????? That has to be wrong
I'm guessing 2050 for the falco marth.
I'm just hoping he does another one of these because I KNOW he'd undershoot me by at least like 300 points

The stealthy re-upload 😉
can someone explain what happened to that falco laser at 5:01?
Marth ducked under the high laser with his dash and then powershielded it
master 1 was an insane guess lol

work on your c-game you probably do good things but make alot of easy to fix low level mistakes. also your peaks and valleys are not your skill level

Fun video!
Time stamps for the reveals?
bro where the fuck are all these people when im playing ranked, i go to bronze and im fighting marths with perfect chain grabs and ledge dashes?????
I'm so confused, there are silver players who destroy me and others I could easily beat with half the cast
11:24 add ittt
The only one I got right was the one at my rank. I got everything else wrong. I wonder if that means anything.
900 on the falcon edit: I thought it was the falcon but the marth should be a similar elo so I am staying
damn no idea how they're gold
@@mymyscellany Some of the combos and follow ups were smart, that is what gave it away to me.
how do you know the numbers for each rank?
Search Reddit
🥶
1850 on the falco ditto
nice guess
Fun
👏
idk man these gold 2's are looking like my silver 1 opponents and its making me upset
why not watch the whole games? find it pretty lame to not get to know how the games end
my guess for the first falco is 1500
damn we're guessing similarly lol
my guess for the yoshi is 1190
we had extremely close guesses
2150 for last falco ditto
W hoodie
I was way better a guessing the shitters LOL (crying inside)
Lol this video is awesome
That last one I was like "idgaf what Ginger says he's 1600" I am God
Edit: currently Silver 3 btw 🙃
