  • In this video we're listening to more from Todd Rundgren. We hear this guy's name a lot when it comes to production. We know he's done some engineering. And from what we've heard, he a very talented musician as well. The name of this song puts us in mind of an old country gospel song. This should be interesting. Enjoy!

Oh yes you most play, Sing Ring and the Glass Guitar. Here’s a short video of Todd playing his Ank guitar while climbing up the pyramid. Yes he did this in over 20 concerts. He never fell and never had any safety harness etc while climbing up the pyramid. PS If you’d like to climb this pyramid it’s in one his fans back yard somewhere in Massachusetts and it’s open to the public. Enjoy. ua-cam.com/video/ej9xzLCyiWE/v-deo.htmlsi=5g5eOrextY6ncl1w

Yeah, he not ONLY did his own production on this one, but on the 1st 3 sides of this double album, he played every one of the instruments and performed all the vocals. This song is was the very 1st (opening track) song on the 1st side of album. His other major hit from this album, Hello It's Me came from the 4th side (disc 2, side 2) and included a ton of very famous musician friends of his. This song proves he didn't really need them. As I recall, he also wrote every song on the album set and recorded everything using a 4-track tape recorder in his living room.

I haven't heard this in many years. I think that The Flintstones were still on TV at the time.
    Great song. 👍

One evening in my youth while shuffling through the jukebox in the local sports centre i found this song which, for the next few weeks, became my favourite song of that moment in time (1976)

Todd wrote this song in 20 minutes. He said it took the rest of the day to record himself playing the instruments.
The song that follows, It Wouldn't Have Made Any Difference, is regarded as one of his finest.

I love this artist and this song, I believe that this was written by Carole King, my favourites by him (along with this) are:
    "Hello, it's Me",
    "Can We Still Be Friends?",
    "Couldn't I Just Tell You",
    "Love is the Answer".

I know that's is what he normally does, but I thought that I read somewhere years ago that Carole King wrote this particular track, but if you know for certain that it was him I'll take your word for it. Thanks for the information. 🙂

A great guy he stepped up like a man when Bebe Buell became pregnant from a brief "relationship" with Steven Tyler. She gave birth on July 1, 1977, naming the daughter Liv Rundgren and claiming that Todd Rundgren was the biological father because Tyler was in the middle of his well-documented drug excesses. Liv told People Magazine in 1992 that "Todd's my spiritual father. I love him". Bebe Buell garnered notoriety after her publicized relationship with musician Todd Rundgren from 1972 until 1978, as well as her liaisons with several rock musicians during that time and over the following four decades. Rundgren and Buell had ended their romantic relationship but Rundgren nevertheless signed the birth certificate and acted as a father figure to Liv, including paying for her education. Peace out.

Such a great album; love the banter in the studio in between some of the tracks, and so many great underheard songs; didn't know this was one though, lol.

Midnight Oil - Armistice Day (Wanda Beach / 1982) would make a great reaction vid for our Anzac day in Australia and New Zealand. The beach gig was one of the best Oils gigs I attended.

Not a fan of Todd in particular but I ADORE this track . Superb harmonies and layering .. one of those songs where you just can’t help singing the chorus . I recently seen a version with Todd , Daryl Hall and some other old coffin dodger at Darylls house - absolutely awesome !
Great call from whoever , I would’ve asked for this but was sure you’d have been very familiar with this , it’s actually used on an advert kicking round the UK for the last few months too .. 🤦‍♂️
Happy day ahead song for me 🙂

Love the song and the album.....I was visiting my grandparents and wandered into a music store in Lakewood OH and they were playing this album. Todd has a great voice and love the guitar and drums which are very inventive.

Todd's career is quite the ride. Todd plays and sings every part on this one as he does on much of his material. Dig deeper and you will find romantic pop like this, prog rock, electronica, and just about everything in between.

This song was recently used in a TV advertisement in the UK. It's been covered by Terry Hall, among others.
As for the traditional Gospel song of the same name, as well as Hank Williams' 1950s version, there was a 90s cover by The The.

Singring is definitely a must. Studio first then a live video version that includes The Pyramid! And from the same album, "Overture: Mountaintop and Sunrise/Communion with the Sun" for some masterful guitar work. Todd's guitar was my favourite part of Meatloaf's "Bat Out of Hell".

The title made me think blues' brothers, at first I didn't recognise the name, but I can remember the song, it must have charted in the UK, I remember it on the radio , again, golden retriever, denim shirt feel, not for me, it's just to nice,🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿✌️

Don’t get me wrong, ANYTIME someone reacts to Todd, I’m happy. But why is it almost always either this song or Hello! It’s Me? Two excellent songs, but this man’s incredible career is so eclectic and he has so many better songs. I would be thrilled if you actually did Singring and the Glass Guitar. But let me suggest the songs Initiation, Black and White, You Cried Wolf, Determination, Tiny Demons, Chant, Lockjaw, Hawking, Love Science, Family Values, Stood Up, Party Liquor and so many more!

    Cynthia and Chris,
I have sent you guys a third email with an Internet Archive link to an important song that commemorates ANZAC day. The last email has the *desired* link. Daily Motion removed my video, and I had to put it up on Internet Archive. Please read through the email.
I know you work hard on these videos and I'm grateful that you did a double-feature on ''Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again'', so please don't feel obliged to do the song if reacting to 3 songs on Wednesday proves to be too much .
But ANZAC day is quite significant in Australia. Thanks.

Thanks for featuring The Wizard, A True Star! Hey I could add so many songs down here for you to let the world know but let’s look at another amazing skill Todd has. What might that be….computer programmer. He set up the first paint brush program for Apple many years ago. Todd also created the first sound effects for the cellphone industry. His most amazing accomplishment was creating the first 3D video using desktop computers and other equipment such as the Video Toaster. So for you computer/software geeks if you have time see what Todd accomplished that some tried but failed all before that famous movie called, Toy Story!
