Another great reaction, thanks!
Mikio Fujioka (RIP) was not in this show. He was the sensei and best friend of Takayoshi Ohmura (glittery pink guitar, nicknamed pink-chan).
Yep, they are having so much fun on stage. Su-metal told years later that the moment they walked through the bridge with all the crowd singing along was one of her favorite moments on stage. They are huge pros and they are not going to put a bad face when performing even when they are not okay. And this comment relates to "Megitsune" lyrics. This was an isolated concert, the first of the 2015 trilogy. 90+ minutes performed with this level or energy. And yeah, this was the last encore of the show. It's insane!
See you next time!
Great reaction again. Mikio Fujioka (RIP) was the Kami Band guitarist who died in January 2018 from his injuries after falling from an observation deck where he had been stargazing. Many fans believe the song 'Starlight' (part of the "Trilogy of Lights" along with 'Shine' and 'Arkadia') from the third album is a tribute to him - that has never been hinted at or confirmed by anybody associated with the band.
He was not playing in this show. The Kami band this night were Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums.
This video was from January 2015 at the Saitama Super Arena. Su was 17, Yui and Moa only 15 and that was over 20,000 people completely under their control. This was also the end of a 90 minute concert and yes, they had been keeping that same energy up without any drop in quality for the whole time.
They change the set list, so the last song will vary, but this has been used quite a lot as was 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' - but other songs may be used for the fiale too.
About the song itself. 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, I'm not sure the translation really works so well to convey what it is really about, but it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way.
It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow.
Any resemblance to DragonForce you may have heard is entirely reasonable since Herman Li and Sam Totman did the guitar arrangements and played in the studio for the album version ... this live performance was all Kami Band of course.
Please feel free to react to as many different performances of the same songs as you like, they are all special in their own way ... I'll watch anyway. 🤘🦊🤘
Mikio is not here, it's Leda and Takayoshi. Easy way to notice Mikio is that he is the shortest, uses a ESP E-II 7 or his Signature custom Burgundy Must ESP Snapper 7. He is usually smiling and lifting or twisting his left leg. Also you will hear a lot more harmonic fills in the songs when he is playing. Actually if you watch the Tokyo Dome Red Night version of this song. They open the show with it. During the chant, Mikio starts playing the chant on his guitar with the crowd. He was actually the oldest of the Kami band members when he passed (38). After he passed, you'll see Takayoshi Ohmura using Mikio's Burgundy Mist guitar at all Babymetal shows along with other performances and recordings. As he just recently did at the Guitar Monsters Japan shows with Marty Friedman.
Ko-Gami lives on thru BABYMETAL.
🤘🤘🤘
Wait what? That wall of death so freaking awesome AF!!! That's the biggest wall of death I ever seen, and the voc tho... Command the crowd to split??? So cool!
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。The crowd involvement (mosh pit, call & response, chant etc.) occurs wherever they go on this planet. American people also did good job in any of 20 shows during BM's 2019 US Tour. For example, you will find videos showing 17,500 audiences doing the same chanting (even much longer one) at the Forum, LA on Oct. 11, 2019. In your video, Su shouted some words at 09:10 meaning "Bring them on!". Fans analyzed that the provocative shout was thrown at people who had been ignoring, underrating, mocking, hating and even trying to discredit BABYMETAL. That shout may have been necessary in 2015 but not any longer. She shouted it rarely since then. Last year (2021), on the final day (April 15) of 10 BABYMETAL BUDOKAN concerts, Su shouted the same words in the end-all of the show. She did it smilingly with matured, mild and friendly voice. It meant, I believe, "come on guys!" The audience smiled her back. I was there at the venue ヽ(^o^)丿
Have you heard Divine Attack? It’s my first new BABYMETAL song… 大好き❤
@@kevinhiggins7838 I already did, of course. I downloaded it, heard it and posted my comment in many reaction videos 😄
@@flugelhornoldman1362 haven’t seen them, but I’m sure they’re great! 😉
Herman Li of Dragon Force was one of the writers for the music in this song, you will need to watch the 43 min long video by CrypticMisery "Everything you need to know about Babymetal" soon so everything makes sense and so you have a full understanding of Babymetal, also if you get a chance maybe look in to the bands they have worked with opened for and have the full support from huge names in the Metal world
I love people reacting to Road of Resistance, for the simple reason is in the beginning, when Su calls for a wall of death there's always that bit of "Is that little girl really calling for a wall of death" from reactors. And to see the "oh shit" moment, and seeing the crowd crash into each other and realizing that a 5ft Japanese girl called for a wall of death is priceless. Have fun in your Babymetal exploration. Best Babymetal is Live Babymetal. 🤘
ありがとうございます🤘🦊♪
Dude! you've been on a Babymetal tear lately 😂 Kitsune Up!🦊🤘
The kamiband are session musicians hired for the live shows. There have been many, but there are regulars. Bassist BOH, seen here, has the most Babymetal appearances to his credit. He has stated that he goes out of his way to accept Babymetal contracts. In an early interview he made special remarks about how the trio have an appetite for performance. He also relayed that the first requirement of the kamiband has always been to be technical. He went on to add, when the producer (Kobametal) was asked how he wanted the kamiband to approach their playing the reply was: "nevermind that they are idols, nevermind that they are girls, just play as loud and heavy as you can."
I'm late to the conversation but at 6:35 when you talk about them enjoying themselves. Their mentor/homeroom teacher Mori Sensei from when they were in their other group, Sakura Gakuin, refused to come see them, because he thought they might be being exploited. When he finally came to see them and talk with them backstage. He found that the girls really love what the are doing are proud of it. 5 (original 3 and 2 others) of the 36 girls that were in Sakura Gakuin have been part of Babymetal. To include Suzuka Nakamoto's rival Riho Sayashi from back when they were in ASH (Actors Studio Hiroshima) pre Sakura Gakuin.
Great reaction! It's 2 guitarists on stage, not just one..... I believe neither of them on this occasion was the late great Mikio Fujioka.
BABYMETAL's backing musicians (The Kami Band) have a pool of 3 or 4 guitarists on rotation depending on availability.
This was the final song if the night.... BABYMETAL don't do encores! :)
Great reaction again i was on the edge of a BabyMetal mosh pit couple times no way i went into the middle I was 62 just after the last time . No one seriously trying to hurt you though
Organise mayhem i would call it .
Surrgest you check out " Megitsune "
Next 😁🤘🦊🤘
Sounds good! I'll check that one out for sure

SORRY about the microphone pops! I'm going to work on my setup and get all dialed in. I hope you all have a great weekend! Joel
At least you have the gain up. like a good (ex)roadie would. The song to delve into the story would be your next reaction, Rondo of Nightmare:), but I won't spoil the storyline here.
The performance w/ the best story BEHIND it is of course, Sonosphere 2014, as you will learn.
@@garytruex9336 I was never a sound guy clearly... I hit up a couple sound guys today. I think I just have to move the mic around a bit till I find a sweet spot
@@joelroadie And be sure to find the Rondo of Nightmare version WITH the Mischief of Metal Gods intro. It'll give you a better taste of what the Kami Band (the BM backing band) is capable of.
That ending was about 5 minutes longer on the Blu-ray haha
Syncopation would be another fan favorite
In case you need the translation of the lyrics:
ROAD OF RESISTANCE
Eastern sky burning red
It is the signal fire
Telling us the dark solitude is over
That is the sign guiding us to the new destination
If they beat you down
Again and again
You gotta burn up the flame inside of you
(Now is the time! Is the time!)
This very moment
(Now is the time! Is the time!)
We live together
(Just now is the time! Is the time!
We sing this for you, for your tomorrow
Now the time has come
Go for resistance, resistance
Wow-wow-wow-wow-wow
Our hearts are one
As long as you can believe in
Go forward even if the road is uncharted
Forever, forever
Wow-wow-wow-wow-wow
We have it deep inside
The burning hearts of metal
It’s our way of resistance
(guitar solo)
[The big call and response time]
(guitar solo)
As long as our lives last
We will never turn our backs
It’s today that makes tomorrow
The future of us all
On the way
Resistance! Resistance!
Stand up and shout!
Justice forever
As far as you believe in
Go forward, here is the answer
Forever, forever
Wow-wow-wow-wow-wow
We have it deep inside
The burning hearts of metal
Our way of
Re-sis-ta-nce!
Yes, this was the final song in the encore. This was the third time this song had been performed live, it wasn't on any record, etc. It had only been performed in the UK and ones a small show for hardcore fans in Japan. And the audience completely followed along at this performance.
Mikio (the guitarist who died) was not in this concert.
Very nice reaction. Just subbed. Might be time already for Babymetal Guide. See how and where they started. It's pretty lengthy, but worth it. The link will be in a reply to this.

3:42 _Now Pizza Time! (Pizza Time!)_ 🦊🤘🍕
You really are binging with BM songs, i don't blame you is almost unavoidable not wanted to hear more and more everything about them, that's why we called the Foxhole, and you barely scratching the surface.
_Road Of Resistance_ is a power/speed metal song, is one of their most epic anthem and got the guitar arrangements made by Sam Totman and Herman Li from DragonForce. Is all about facing your own path without looking back.
The wall of death is insane, is also called "mosh'sh pit", different from usual mosh pit because this one is safe to participate if you fall everyone will stop until you get up and get ready to keep going with the fun ride.
This was part of the Trilogy Of 2015, live at New Year Fox Festival - Saitama Super Arena, by this time their fame was already high due to viral success on YT of Gimme Chocolate! MV, people from all over the world attended this live concert in Japan, and 20K souls witnessed this epic moment.
With only 15 and 17 years old this moment will be forever remember when they performing this song to reminds them all the support they got from their fans no matter where they go, either a small or big stages.
The Kami Band here are glorious set of elite musicians who were send to help with the metal sound, they rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (specially the guitarrists), all of them are males.
They are:
- Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording some albums.
- Takayoshi Ohmura, god of guitar, he's Míkio' Fujioka's pupil (another beloved Kami Band guitarist who sadly past away, you mentioned but he's not here, indeed very young, R.I.P.) and a prodigy child, you'll see his recognizable pink guitar.
- BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but her fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP.
- Hideki Aoyama, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japan music scene.
This is their final song as you guess after an encore set of three songs (including this one), but sometimes they used this as an opener, you can noticed this is an ender or a song before an encore when they shout "We Are BabyMetal!" along with the crowd, this a line borrowed to X-Japan when finishing their live concerts.
Thanks for sharing this and hopefully this won't be blocked but without any filters this most likely will be blocked 😢
See you next time and kitsune up! 🦊🤘
excellent content dude, welcome to the BABYMETALVERSE, this band is so awesome you are gonna love being a part of the "ONE"
another great reaction. There will never be anything like Babymetal they are one of a kind for sure. Of all the shows they have done I know Road of Resistance has been the last song at many of their shows but not all . I know Ijime,Dame,Zettai was during their first album and still was for quite sometime also The One. I'm sure some others have been too. You want to see another great song and live performance check out BABYMETAL - Ijime,Dame,Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014,UK (OFFICIAL). It was their first big show outside of Japan. They ended up being the talk of the festival that had bands like Maiden and many other legend heavy metal acts there. That show also had Mikio ,the guitarist that died ,playing with them that show. The Kami band has musicians that switch in and out for different shows and tour. They are all excellent. Mikio was special though. But yes it is an awesome performance at Sonisphere. The girls and the Kami band knocked it out of the park.
HOLY SHIT! I have seen this performance easily over 100 times over the years, but I never noticed that it looks like Su-metal (lead singer) is looking far back towards the main stage and giving a signal about her mic (holding with both hands, which she rarely does unless switching hands, and tapping the top of the mic with her right hand) starting at 9:00
@EMB This one of the most overt signals shown, but they have lots of subtle signals to each other, the band, sound, etc; they're very quickly, but noticeable. With all the cuts, it's hard to see, but Su frequently checks on MoiMoi throughout the performances, especially in the early years. That was one of SuMoa's concerns during the dark period, because they weren't always able to see each other. And of course MoiMoi's have a near telepathic connection.
@@GenTzu That's very interesting! So true about the dark period! I never thought about that.
Babymetal supported Guns and Roses in 2017, and Metallica, Korn, RHCP. These girls are legit and worked with Rob Halford, Corey Taylor, BMTH, Dragon Force and more.
You were pretty good with your guess. That was the last song of the encore. The girls and Kami band had THAT much energy still after crushing it for 80 previous minutes. Glad you didn't end the video too soon too, as you got to hear their signature "See You" at the end. At least when there was all 3 original girls anyway. 🤘🦊🤘
For a great Live performance of BABYMETAL, get the second CD Metal Resistance with the Metrock Live 2015 DVD.
It's fun, it's raw, the crowd is going insane during the whole set !!
😊🤘
Great reaction!
The order of the songs changes with each show... here it is ending.. but they also opened with this song...
If you watch BabyMetal with Rob Halford you'll see Mikio and Yui interact a lot Missed but never forgotten Mikio is the guitarist that died RIP and Yui is the original member that left due to an illness

"Stand up and shout, Shout!, Justice Forever!" - (Road of Resistance) -
Pretty much a master class in audience control.
BABYMETAL believe that if a song sounds too much like one genre, then it's not a BABYMETAL song.
You can definitely feel the speed metal in this one though.
Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce provided guitar tracks for the studio version.
This performance was at Saitama Super Arena (SSA) in January of 2015, with a sold out crowd of over 20,000.
BABYMETAL's lead singer, Suzuka Nakamoto first appeared at SSA in 2008 as a member of the J-Pop trio Karen Girl's, when she was 10 years old.
She's been back many times since, headlining with BABYMETAL.
Guitarists that night were Takayoshi Ohmura and Leda Cygnus. The bassist was BOH, and the drummer was Hideki Aoyama.
Hideki's father and brother were also drummers, so it's kind of in his blood.
Fun fact: babymetal dont do encores, they just wipe the floor with you for about 70 min and go home.
Nice reaction. Last song of the night. Their sets do change. They even change the arrangements to songs and the choreography as well sometimes. While the song Divine Attack seems to be about you going out and following your dreams. Road of Resistance was more about joining Babymetal on their road or dream if you will. When they released this song there were still many metalheads who didn't want Babymetal around. This is one of the songs that got many folks to change their minds about Babymetal. Early folks thought they might be a short-lived gimmick. Babymetal proved they're going in for the long haul. It took a while, but Babymetal pushed forward. The harder they worked the more fans they got and loved them for it. There will be books and movies about them some day. The story of Babymetal is unbelievable. If you saw just on paper, you think this would never happen. Instead Babymetal have written themselves into the history books of music. Their live performances stunned audiences. You can't dance to metal for a whole show. And their answer to that was watch us. Now as for them having fun and enjoying what they're doing on stage. These ladies were born to be on stage. Su seems so comfortable there. it's a big part of why her stage presence is so big. Yui and Moa know how to play to an audience as well. But it's the little things they do on stage that is also part of what makes them a joy to watch. When you're watching their live performance look for some of those moments as well. Especially with Moa. She's the troublemaker up there. But it's all so Kawaii. And part of the Kawaii metal experience. Finally, a note about the end of the song. That was an extended version with a key change which gave a triumphant feel to it. And when Su says, "We Are" and Yui and Moa reply with the audience "Babymetal". That's part of why the fans are called the ONE. As in one with the band. They feed of the energy of the audience. And Babymetal delivers crazy energy on stage. The end part of we are Babymetal also lasted longer during the actual show. The main stage had 3 bridges one to each side and the one down the middle. They went across all the bridges to get to as many fans as they could. They don't like to leave anyone out of the experience. They have done performances from the top of the stage rigging just so the fans in the upper deck can see them better. They had a lift bring them up to a platform built up there. All part of Babymetal being epic. Considering they started off as more of a passion project of the producer and amuse inc the talent agency they work for didn't think they would amount to much. and only gave them a very small budget to start off with. I'd say Babymetal have come a long way. The two-shows due in January 2023. I think are going to be Boss level epic. Enjoy the ride through the foxhole and into the Babymetal galaxy of music.
A month late but here's my story. I took 3 friends to introduce them to BABYMETAL. After the opening band a lot of people went to the bathroom or something. A spot closer to the stage opened. A guy said let's go. I said, I don't know. They have a wall of death (we were between 50 and 60 years old). We went up. When they started and bodies started pressing together with jumping (myself included), the other 2 went to watch from the bar. Then a guy barrels through, bangs into all of us, knock a woman down and joins a slam pit. Doesn't even stop to check on the woman. A slam pit is not normal for BABYMETAL. I think these were fans of the venue. Anyway, the guy who wanted to move up bowed out to join the others. I held my ground.
If you're willing to check out more about their history and stuff behind the scenes you should check out A Beginner's Guide to Babymetal! Best would be a most recent one. There's a shortened version too if you aren't willing to watch a full (entertaining) 40 minutes.
Yeah setlist change every time and yes it was last song😀
By the way, the concert will be nonstop until the end when it starts, with no MC and no encore. There are no encores in the fox god's scriptures!
It reminds me of BABYMETAL - Ijime,Dame,Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014,UK (OFFICIAL ) which started with denial and ended with many metalheads holding up the fox sign.
There are encores. When the Kami band first appeared live with BabyMetal. Those songs were encore songs.
This very song was part of an encore so don't know what you are talking about:D.
Please check out some black Babymetal songs which is the two smaller girls performing by themselves one song is Sis anger another one from them is GJ please check out Sis anger performed at Tokyo dome also check out Su solo performance of Rondo of nightmare from Budokan
Watching rondo tomorrow! I loaded up tonight
my PIT story:
I was 17 in 2002 and I travelled to the other end of germany with a friend and 2 tickets, some weed but almost no money in my pockets to see the Chili Peppers live. After not sleeping all night and then standing all morning and afternoon in front of the concert hall we ran to the front of the stage the moment the doors opened.
the opening act was a new york (i think) band called The Toilet Boys. We were in a pit right in front of the stage, high, drunk, having fun, it was great. Until some guy came flying like some football player with a vicious helmet to helmet tackle... only we weren't wearing helmets.. I got knocked out for a second and when I came too a moment later I was missing a bob marley necklace I was wearing and some guy 10 meters away was holding my jacket in the air and throwing it around.
i got my jacket back, went to the back for a bit to have a beer and chill until the Chili Peppers came out and I ran right back up in the pit.
After the concert was over we ran to the train station to get back home. we were completely soaking wet from sweat, it was february with snow outside and we had school the next day... well I didn't I had a minor concussion and bronchitis. was an insanely awesome weekend and I loved my dad for getting me the tickets and letting me go on my own.
