What's new...my country Australia is addicted to rich foreign students so much our nationals can barely afford tertiary education any more.

My initial reaction was 👀😬😂 hasn’t this been always the case 😅
Status bias/wealth heuristic similar to a halo effect

This is the reason why we need EO at universities. This “show me the money’ bs for an education needs to go. We need free tuition at these prestigious campuses.

Don't know about free... but certainly the costs need to be much, much lower.

@@xx_Joker_xx I mean MIT already give out tuition free scholarship to anyone whose parents' income is below 200000$ and in addition living cost if the income is below 1000000$ so the students only to work 10-15 hours/week or get other scholarship from government or other institution to pay to pay off student's contribution of 3500$ dollars if i am not wrong. So maybe lower tuition cost significantly but only to lower class and middle class so the college get the majority of the funds for the teachers, books, electricity and other expenses from the wealthy class ?

@@michaeljonathan9715 so based on the income of the parents? That sounds like a good idea actually. As far as the scholarships given out currently, I can't speak for that because I do not know. That sounds fairly specific to different schools. But I could certainly entertain the idea of tuition and stuff based on income.

Have you seen the recent statistics? Due to no affirmative action because of the Supreme Court and Trump, there is a stark decrease in admissions in all universities, especially also the best in the USA.

Also, a new study shows - Attractive people are more favored in dating!

This analogy doesn't make any sense. Being excessively wealthy shouldn't be a factor in getting into college.
Being attractive is a reasonable factor in dating.

Just because a student has parents who can pay does not mean they are better students any more than it means they are not. Admissions is much more than income.
College is expensive- if we want to make it more equal make it more affordable- so students can stay in and finish!

Don’t they just add extra spots
Like if freshman class was supposed to be 10k and someone rich want in couldn’t they just buy 10,001st seat?
