Starting Maye now would be a mistake- play the long game. Let him be the back up. If he needs to go in due to Jakobi getting injured, then fine, but to put him in with the expectation that he can overcome all this horrible play by the team would be a massive mistake.
The Texans offensive line was crap, but when CJ Stroud came into the NFL, he was ready to roll. He's a phenom. Most situations are not like that in the NFL... Good offensive line or bad. In the end it's good quarterback play that matters. The longer the quarterback holds on to the ball. The worse the offensive line looks.

Even the announcers were getting tired of saying, "Mac drops back to pass. The defense rushes 3, and all three get to him for the sack." That's on the O-line and receivers.
