I'm already used to all the quirks of windows so no issue there for me. This will allow for quick 30-minute sessions around my apartment after work when I'm too tired to fire up my big boy. Also, compared to deck, keep in mind youll get windows firewall alerts when you game online occasionally, security center alerts if you dont have antivirus, less streamlined system and device driver and firmware updates, etc. But the advantage is its more likely gonna work with the new Forza Motorsport. And as of now the new F1 23 doesnt support the deck. So you really need to research what games you want to play to pick your system.
A big reason why I sold my Steam Deck was because nearly every GoG game I tried to run wouldn’t play, and I have over 200. The straw that broke the camels back though was when my VPN randomly decided to stop working and even a hard factory reset couldn’t fix it on the Deck. I’ve been DDOS’d before from playing online, so it’s a VPN or no dice for me. Linux just simply isn’t user friendly enough in my opinion, and I’d much rather deal with windows if it means getting things up and working with ease.

You do know the steam deck can play more than just steam games? It can play any of the launchers, ea, battlenet, ubisoft, epicgames,gog, they all work, and most of the time unverified or unsupported titles work no problem, only games that dont are certain anticheat games.
@Jacqie the workaround for me atleast only takes minutes, but yea I get it, I just want to make sure people know this, you basically said in your video that you can only play steam games on the deck, that's just wrong my man.
Hi I can understand what your saying but I feel your making the ally sound a bit difficult too use maybe but the ally has not even been released yet and there’s a hand fall of UA-camrs showing all sorts of games running well on the ally so I assume when it is released there will be umpteen UA-camrs showing games game settings to help people just as you get on destiny 2 with builds.
From using the Ally for about 2 to 3 weeks, it was easy to use and it runs games really well. I loved it a lot, but I also felt that some people might struggle and that some people want an easier experience. For example my wife likes the Nintendo Switch because she doesn't want to worry about settings etc and for her for example the Ally isn't something she likes as much. So not trying to shame the Ally, just mainly wanted to talk about the options.

It is such a person to person type thing, some people will love it and some will hate it. I think there are people for the steam deck and people for the Ally. Windows does also come with some problems here and there, but overall it actually runs really well and was really fun.
As much as you say the steam deck is a gaming console in reality it is still a handheld gaming PC because you can swap over to a desktop interface and use it like a normal PC just like what you can do with the Ally that is why everyone compares the Ally to the steam deck because they're both handheld gaming PC's.
Yes this is 100% true and I understand everything behind that, but for me just because a device can do something doesn't mean that a lot of people can and will use it in that way. The way I see the steam deck and the way many people will use it is probably the way I described it in the video. This is the same with a Macbook for example, you can install different OS's for example windows, but most people won't ever change the OS on a Macbook.
I love it so much, just wanted to make this video as I still feel a select few might not like it as much as a console for example. I also feel it will get better with time and updates and I really hope you enjoy your Ally.
Would you recommend the ROG for me? I own a switch and play a couple fighting games and fps games like Mortal Kombat or Doom and hopefully COD soon but that and maybe a couple other games for the most part are what I play. The biggest problem with the switch is just that at this point I want better resolution I want to play the new MK game with it looking crisp and high quality while on the switch the graphics do not look good but I understand that’s just what needed to happen to make it playable. I mainly play on my bed or couch for 1-2 hours maybe. I know battery life isn’t going to be good in the rog and while I like the easy grab and plays aspect to the switch I think I’m fine having to tinker with the device a bit if it means I’ll get better graphics on a hand held. I’ve never had a handheld computer counsel like this so these devices and all their terminology are pretty new to me but let me know what you think should I be looking at something else?
If you generally just play on the bed or couch for an hour or two, then the Ally would be great for that. You can even leave it plugged in if you want as it increases performance a lot. Once you have set everything up, launching games are also fairly quick from the Armoury crate app. I tested some games on 720p and it still looks great and is a lot smoother then as well.
The Rog Ally is absolutely the hype. It is THE best handheld gaming device on the market. Period. Arguing it is just insanity. The amount this thing can do is mind-blowing.
im glad that you brought up this point. lucky for me, i am already well seasoned enough with PCs and windows and i would much rather take this over the typical ease of access or simplistic/straightforward interface that many, much more optimized consoles use
A few of my friends are like that yes. The one bought an Xbox because he just wants to sub to gamepass when he has time to play games and then not pay if he is too busy
For me the only time you won't regret it if you already have a SD, is if you really want to play games on Epic or Gamepass, otherwise it will probably feel sort of the same.
@FuturesexXx for me I just ran all the games at 720p because you get more frames, but it is capable of running a lot of games at 1080p. For me it just makes sense to run at a lower res to try and reach higher frames to make use of the 120hz display

It is definitely not as easy as just installing it as with the ROG Ally. It takes a bit of a workaround. But it can be done yes.
