    看了这个视频后,我觉得自己的华文水准也要进步了。I really miss hearing teenagers and students communicating with each other in their Mother Tongues language.

    As a Chinese Malaysian, I challenged myself to answer the last question in both Chinese and Malay, and below were my answers. 🤣
    "在华人的习俗里,一个人替自己庆生两次是很常见的。一次是依据农历,而另一次则是依据阳历。"
    "Dalam budaya Cina, adalah biasa bagi seseorang untuk meraikan hari jadinya sebanyak dua kali. Sekali menurut kalendar Cina, manakala sekali lagi mengikut kalendar Barat."

    I hope you guys interview more actual people on the streets, because in this and your previous interviews have been with known people. It shows with the way they approach the interview/answers.

    According to Malaysian standards, that Malay translation would be considered grammatically incorrect because it follows the English sentence structure. The grammatical and more natural translate could be "Dalam budaya Cina, seseorang individu biasa menyambutkan hari lahir mereka dua kali: Sekalinya mengikut takwim qamari Cina dan sekali lagi mengikut takwim Barat."
    The word 'lunar' is not Malay though. Fun video regardless

    The Chinese for wedding is really easy though and I don’t think 恶鬼 is very accurate translation to evil spirit. I would translate it to 恶灵. 二梳百年好合 is not an idiom, more like a tradition…

    • @ILuvLiv
      @ILuvLiv 12 днів тому

      Yes, should be 恶灵.

    • @jcscband
      @jcscband 10 днів тому +1

      To be fair to the show, I think they deliberately put it as 恶鬼 is because most Singaporeans won't think of 恶灵, and 恶鬼 would be more of local context. But I do agree that 恶灵 would be more accurate.

      @@octovanfoo968 I guess we just have limited vocabulary in SG, and don't use Mandarin as often as English.

    As a Singaporean Chinese who studied Higher Mother Tongue before, it is no wonder why majority of Singaporean Chinese have to take CL B. 现在年轻人的华文水平每况愈下。

    Hun li is wedding right? Hun Ying is marriage
    evil spirt not yao mo gui guai? or yao guai? or gui? or er mo? although E gui sounds more correct
    Wah the $150 is quite manageable for me I would say
    Zai Hua ren de wen hua li, Qing zhu liang ci sheng ri shi hen ping chang pu bian de. Yi ci shi nong li, yi ci shi yang li sheng ri.
    The Er shu bai nian hao he very tricky. Know the meaning of "Bai nian hao he" but got lost at the "er shu" should give hint like "yi shu, er shu, san shu" comb hair.

    For Chinese, in this day and age, people don't really write already. Some don't even know Hanyu Pinyin well to type. So, to ask the contestants to write, it's the same as killing them 🤣But on a serious note, it is very disheartening that many don't know certain basic words or knowing the proper words to use in specific scenarios
