    I think one way to improve the elimination chamber is the only way to be eliminated is to “Submit or surrender” it would make the chamber more grueling because you can only leave the chamber if you give up, submit or pass out”

      @@HostWithTheMoston top of that you could play up a spot where a coward heel is trying to leave the chamber but instead the refs have to do everything in their power to keep them in. In fact have 5 men dressed like guards with riot shields and clubs and every time a non eliminated wrestler gets out the cage they get beat up and thrown back into the match kinda like lumber Jack rules. The chamber should be “hell on earth” and should show how desperate are you really to get to wrestlemania, can you endure ungodly pain and torture and do you have it in you to make a man submit or surrender.
      For example imagine if drew had to eliminate Randy by ramming his back into the cage over and over and over again until he blacks out, it makes the chamber more scary and makes drew look like more of a killer

    The elimination Chamber is something I wish we saw more in scenarios where there’s a story being told akin to the Armageddon HIAC, I think if they did that match in the Chamber it would’ve worked a lot better than it did and I wish we saw more feuds like that be the catalyst for a Chamber.

    The best way to rejuvenate these special match types is to stop using them every year & only book them like once in a blue moon especially when the right Wrestlers come along that will utilise them to the fullest to put on the best show possible. That way they feel like a huge deal & a very special occasion again when they are booked

    I couldn't agree more. Especially with the last point about someone running into the chamber after another person gets eliminated. It's like the table spot. Why would a ref a) allow that to happen? And b) why does it happen at a really ridiculous amount of times?

    I felt like this one did a good job of picking guys who had beefs with each other and were at the upper mid-top of the card range. They also set it up to basically flesh out the mania card. A little cheap but it popped me at 7am.

  • @mpklub

    Ive disliked what theyve done with the chamber over the years. It was better when they used the chamber as a tool to bring 6 main eventers/upper mid carders to fight over the title versus a standard PPV.
    It shouldn't be a PPV. It should be a gimmick used to deal with multiple main eventers who have claims to the title.

  • @djglenn

    WWE turned all the gimmick matches into annual events trying to cash in on the novelty and now those matches are so common it's no longer a novelty.

    I gotta say i really enjoyed the first few Chambers ever done. The last one i really cared most about was NYR 06 when Cena won a hard fought match and got smoked by Edge cashing in. After awhile, you're right, it becomes formulaic and same old. Some people innovate well and make it exciting, but it drags sometimes. Also, the mens one this year used the interference gimmick too much

    In a way I think, if they are to continue to sell us the idea that it's such a dangerous match-then give us some blood dammit! Im not saying there should be weapons in there or anything but I cant suspend my disbelief that this chamber is so dangerous when everyone walks out with not a much as a little nosebleed
    A bit of another discussion but still.

    • @DaveKnowsWrestling
      @DaveKnowsWrestling  4 місяці тому +2

    Yes fully agreed. As an example, when say Joe or Shayna Bayzler, Goldberg or Lesnar goes on a tear it puts all the heat/shine on one individual. Pod glass breaks happen in every chamber match, a bit over done. Ideally 3 heels and 3 faces should be in each. Your mid card heel should pin an upper card face. Or the rising midcard heel should pin and eliminate the upper card face so there's some forward momentum spread around.
    As an example Goldberg destroyed a lot of people in the second Chamber match including Randy Orton who eliminated no one. But what if Randy Orton had pinned Kevin Nash (who left WWE soon after this anyway) to truly start up the legend killer gimmick. Orton could claim he killed Nash's career. Then Orton could pin HBK to setup the Orton/HBK feud headed into the next month's Unforgiven event.

    Its actually simple to use process of elimination.off the top KO and Logan were just obvious fillers Bobby has a storyline going so he’s out Randy is a vet and he’s in it to put over someone else and pay his dues now my money was on LA knight cuz he’s hot but drew makes sense because if Cody and knight win then both champs would be babyface and that would be boring

    I think the Chamber is better than WarGames but it has suffered from being an annual event. The only time the two chambers in one night tactic worked was in ‘09 when Edge swindled his way into it

    • @DaveKnowsWrestling
      @DaveKnowsWrestling  3 місяці тому

      Well I can't agree with you there but to each their own. The one thing I will concede is that Wargames always suffered from some convoluted rules. Elimination Chamber is at least for straight forward. But the formula of the Wargames and its function is by far superior in my book

    The reason why people complained about Shayna's Elimination Chamber performance is that she came out 4th. Had she been 5th (and therefore only done the "I'm waiting for the next victim" spot once) then it would have been better recieved

    Imagine in the 2003 Chamber if instead of Goldberg going on a tear and eliminating 3 or 4 people Randy Orton pinned HBK and Kevin Nash? Randy Orton could get credit for taking out Nash (I think Nash left WWE soon after with the chamber being his final appearance) Orton pinning HBK could set up their match the next month at Unforgiven.
    In 2005 Batista eliminating Benoit/Jericho continued making him a big deal as Batista should be. But what if Edge pinned Benoit on the outside with Edge’s feet on the chamber wall for leverage? Could’ve made Edge look smart and dastardly while adding more heat to the Edge v Benoit feud coming the next month.

    The Chamber match and the February PPV as a whole is just completely pointless. Every match could be on RAW or Smackdown and it really wouldn't change much, and you could come up with a way better way of deciding a number 1 contender than just sticking them in a Elimination Chamber. Could do a Battle Royal, a Tournament, a title shot that gets ruined by interference, fighting the champions previous opponent for their rematch clause, ect. But no, instead they beat up a bunch of jobbers in an Elimination Chamber.
    WWE had already made it clear that Becky and Drew wanted to challenge their respective champions, so just... have them challenge for the titles instead of making them go through the February obligation that is the Elimination Chamber.
    Money in the Bank is the same, they do it because they have to and have no clue what to do with the briefcase. Last years men's winner hasn't even cashed in yet, the previous winner before him cashed in on a midcard title then lost, and two years before that it was won by a joke wrestler who went on to lose the briefcase to someone else.

    Yes, the EC has become similar to the just as ineffective HIAC, in that there's no perceived sense of danger, more like a no stakes, "protect them between RR and WM" type of PPV/PLE.
    I say there should be no PLE between them, because of the predictability of "no champ loses at this one" matches, I mean, not even the US Title (and in my opinion LP {semi-famous UA-camr} shouldn't even be holding it, similar to when David Arquette {an actor} was given the WCW title! 🤦), was up for the taking! 🤷

      I don't think the ppv between RR and Mania shouldn't exist but it needs to be less obvious that the champ isn't going to lose. An example of that would be have a guy who's been feuding with the challenger to the champion win the rumble like how they did in 2001. They tried it this year with Jax and Lynch but it didn't work because nobody thinks Nia would've been champ

    The issue wasn't Shayna destroying everyone else. It was that they didn't have her come out last so she stood around for too long.
    Also, I know you said they don't do that stuff every year, but, just this year they had Naomi eliminated before everyone was in and in the mens, Knight and Lashley were in the ring, the next one out was Owens (a face) and he went after Knight (also a face) first.
    The issue I have with it, is the same is the Rumble, but the Rumble will usually have more people in the ring. Well, all multi-person matches, actually, people have to be dead for minutes at a time until it's time for their next spot.
    Another issue is that it is an elimination match. I have always hated those because it makes the earlier eliminations look weak.
