  • Muggy day hiking on the Chattooga River Trail from Sandy Ford down to Licklog Creek! Not a long hike but being warm and humid made it rough. Some flowers and blackberries made it much nicer, though.

Nice video, Joe. Yeah, it's combination of heat and humidity has been... difficult. If Gobi needs a bath, crossing Warwoman creek on Earl's Ford road a mile or so north of this hike is a popular Jeep route. This time of year the Bartram trail is really overgrown. I do like it though as it indicates fewer travelers.

@@KENFEDOR22 Yeah I’ve crossed Warwoman before but I don’t think I’ve taken Gobi across yet.

I think most of those dead and dying evergreens are hemlocks. They've been all but wiped out all along to Chattooga and the slopes above it. You have to really be careful these days where you pitch your tent in there. Don't want to get killt by falling limbs and tree trunks.

Yeah it's sad to see. Hopefully what is left will be heartier and make it!

Hey Uncle Joe. Have you ran into any snakes on the trail this summer?

@@FreeBirdUSA I really haven’t seen a lot out this Summer. This heat wave may be keeping them still during the day.

How is the road to Sandy Ford? I haven't been in there in years.

It was fine. They've actually paved it all the way back to the little cattle farm. The rest of the way was well maintained as well all the way to the parking area by the river.
