- Situated inches from the Walhalla Fish Hatchery, South Carolina's East Fork Chattooga River might be the most frequently stocked water in the South. This kid-friendly Upstate water is ideal for first time anglers, weekend warriors and veterans. Easy access is granted and the South Carolina Division of Natural Resources pumps in trout almost weekly year round. We dissect the fishery in this episode of Pautzke Outdoors!

Very cool. My girl caught her first as a 6 year old at hatchery. Awesome memory for us both. Don’t sleep on going downstream a ways from hatchery. Only a mile or so to the confluence w Chattooga. But I found trail all the way to there a few years ago. Very fishable to the end of East Branch
I stood in the same spot as you were ,for about 4 hrs today. A great day
Love these vids!
Great content again! big inspiration to my channel
Very nice brook trout!
This is a great video
For me, I have had some of my best times trout fishing at the Chauga River nearby also. Don’t get me wrong. Some tough hikes to some spots, but people sleep on that place. It’s great
Best access to the Chauga?
luke wilson place called cassidy bridge
You guys are badass!
Hello great video.. I love watching your videos . when did y'all fish there
Going next week!!
Is the fishing here any good this time of year? I have never caught a trout but I am off for the next two weeks. I know you said they stock through the summer but this clearly not summer 🤣
They stock all year. Weekly.
@@TeamPautzke I went and struck out this time. I walked down the trail until I hit the river, stopping a few times to fish where I could access the water. I plan to go back one per month until I catch one. Do you happen to know what day of the week they release them?
@@TeamPautzke Thanks for replying btw.
What rod and reel is that you’re using
Is this below hatchery on hatchery side of river?
All trout are stocked within 50 yards up and downstream of it.
Where is that access point?
Right at the hatchery.
Where exactly did y’all park to get to this area?
Matt, in the huge, well signed parking area. This area is 100 percent public and found on every map.
@@TeamPautzke thanks
@@TeamPautzke love watching y’all’s videos are y’all from sc
@@TeamPautzke and it is the Walhalla fishing hatchery right or did y’all go into burrell’s Ford campground
@@TeamPautzke and also garnet and black is a much better color combination. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Great video! Lol wish I could catch nice brookies like that! Do have monster wild browns all over the place here in pa! If you could when you get the time checkout my latest upload. Lol my opening day didn't go as planned 😂 could have gone much better but did catch a ton of fallfish! The past wells though been throwing giant streamers for big browns and I've been having some crazy encounters with monsters!
Ive learned from fihing and raising trout that rainbows will outcompete brooks over food
Indeed, thats why native brook trout are generally found in high mountain streams where rainbows and browns have not been stocked
They taste better from South Carolina
You ain't in the east fork.
Except, we are. Talk to the hatchery:)
@@TeamPautzke I just realized that. The river looks much bigger on UA-cam
:)
My favorite fishing hole
Spin fishing for trout? SMDH
Of course. Sounds like you do, too! Awesome.
