Picking up our new 21ft full offroad caravan in 2 days and consider it the pinnacle of camping/ touring after having tents, 2 x camper trailers and swags we have settled on comfort for the whole family so we can all enjoy getting away and exploring this great country
Most definitely the way to go, my wife and I can’t wait for our new titanium to be completed and delivered next year. Let the fun, travels and beer o’clock begin.
Great points mate. I too am a fan of JC and his humour... even when it hits a bit close to home haha. Prior to seeing this I've been thinking of making a video along the same lines of this. We are travelling without kids and have been on the road for just over 5 months now. We have blown our $1000/wk budget by 40%. This is not by living lavish, simply the cost of living and things breaking have gotten us to that point! Throw in adverse weather and the constant chores and you've hit the nail on the head with "its not a holiday, it's an adventure". Perspective is everything. Cheers Brad
Great video, maybe Pt 2 for all the rewards that come when you are prepared to do the work of running a van and car to go travelling. Really enjoyed this.
Wow. We have done 2x20k+ trips over the past 18 months and never encountered issues you bring up. But I always try to keep positive. Cadogan is the king of negatives.
Great video, thanks for discussing the idea of maintenance and each person's ability to conduct basic checks properly let alone one the run maintenance or repairs.
Lovely Ep once again spot on, My Wife and I and our 4 big kids roll differently, we got a old 1983 wind up Jayco owes us 5 or 6g max, our old 4wd is a 1990- 80 series with 819,000ks on it owes around 10g, We go for 3 to 4 weeks love to go longer but 3 to 4 months would pull us up I recon as I love to come home to,
My advice,..... start small...do some 1 week trips away, then 2 or 3 week trips away and see what it's like. Then work up to a few months. I think most people will realise how hard it is. But like you Adam, I couldn't think of anything better to do....can't wait to be able to do a big lap. Safe travels..🤙
Finally someone that brought out the reality of it all instead of feeding the "gram dream". It's good to give it a go but it's definitely not for everyone. You don't "need" it all.
You forgot to mention that John also is a very miserable individual that hates absolutely everything, where as your videos make it look like something we all should do while keeping it real. Well done.
I don’t know if I live under a rock but I haven’t come across your channel until today. I watch John “dude” and I enjoy his videos, but I also take a fair bit of his work with a grain of salt. We are empty nesters and we have a hybrid caravan so we can cook outside and live outside. We are doing a 7 week trip right now to work out our needs. So far we have only had issues with the bloody weather. May 1 2024 we embark on a 12 month adventure around this great country. And no, I would not have done it with kids. Keep up the great content
Your absolutely right about living with your family 24/7, we all think we are doing it but really you not. Work 8-10 hrs sleep 8-10 hrs and the rest with your family. I've just retired from work and its harder than you think being with your partner for 12-16 everyday.
All very valid points My plan is if the Mrs is pissing me off after 3 or 4 months, just drive off without her one day 😉 No different to living on a boat, well actually better because you can jus walk away 👍 Another fantastic episode 👍👍
doing this full time as we do and it does cost at least $1000 a week as diesel goes up so does the food and there goes $1500 a week. budget that $1500 a week about $60000 for 12 months if you dont want to work
Different strokes for different folks not one size fits all .I think if you let Megan take a few more photos she would be happier but these are the memories you will remember when you get old .
Yes you can spend 200K on a setup, however you can also sell it when you get back and recoup a decent amount of that cost. You can’t say the same if you spend that on flights and accommodation + car hire.
The cost point is an interesting one that yourself and John have made however of you were to spend that “$200,000” on hotel accommodation that moneys gone forever. At least if you want out of your car/caravan rig you can recoup a fair portion of that money.
Good video, but I have few points, leaving cost regardless if you travel or staying home will cost you so let's cross this, not every place in OZ you can have night in hotel or motel, if you staying in hotels, b&b etc you comit to date with RV you free and this is what you paying for. 😉
@@SmartTouringSystems we can’t bloody wait to say adios to work and head off! I’m sure it’s not going to be all sunshine ☀️ and lollipops 🍭 all of the time living in a 19ft home on wheels but we’ll give it a crack!! 🤙🏽

Very good and practical content
While John makes a valid point about setup costs, you still have an asset to sell when no longer needed. Love your work on these videos
Very true

Yeah I’d say that’s a fair estimate.
Beats going to the office. We are having a blast. Stay positive!
Absolutely 🤙🏻

That’s very true mate.
You need to factor in resale value of your van when comparing the cost of hotel type accommodation.
Yes that is true. In normal times the depreciation would be huge, but not at the moment I guess.
Very good points!!!!

Awesome vid mate! 🤙🏽At least your wife watches your vids which is why I sneak in a few inappropriate comments from time to time! 😂
