@@Bookborn I am, but I think my own personal hype-level is kind of moderate. It'll probably raise up right at launch. It's the Godzilla ready to stomp all over my TBR :)
After finishing RoW, I learned some of the "official" name pronunciations, and was surprised. So thank you for saying it how my brain has this whole time, lol. I am glad I'm not alone!
Love this! I'm currently reading Oathbringer for the first time and then Rythm of War in time for Wind and Truth, but I will still watch this video before the premiere 😊
This is amazing! I have just circled back and done Dawnshard and Edgedancer... so I am refamiliarizing myself as well. Adapting from Mistborn to Stormlight is intriguing :-)
Gave a like and am bookmarking this to watch piece by piece as I am doing a Stormlight re-read, so will watch each piece as I complete the book (almost done with Way of Kings).
I like that you also say AH-dolin. I never understood AY-dolin, because every other Alethi name in the Stormlight Archive the A sound is pronounced AH (not AY) - Kah-lah-din, Jah-snah, Shah-lahn, Dah-lin-nahr, etc. So even just using basic phonetics within naming conventions, it makes much more sense that his name is AH-dolin. but c'est la vie hah
Starting Way of Kings next in my journey through the Cosmere, but look forward to coming back and watching this eventually before I start Wind and Truth
Oh nice, I appreciate the work. Also I like your name pronunciations, I'm wondering how I would have said alot of them without the benefit of having listened to the audiobook 😅
Not gonna lie, i dnf'd this series after book 1. It's just not my cup of a tea i think. But if anybody offer me one a half hour video about this series' recap, who am i to refuse that. 😀😀😀 thanks, bookborn...
Its wild when you add the word count of each mainline book 1-4 you get about 1.7 million words. It goes up to almost 1.8 million if you include the novellas 😂😂
no um actually's about anything substantial luckily, only about my pronunciations. Although at this point, if you're still here, isn't that a part of the charm?
ohhhhh i sooooo wanna watch this but I didnt finish the last book yet (purposefully) I usually read the last 30% or so right before starting the new one when it comes out. Im where Kaladin is hiding in the walls of the great tower of Urithiru. Can someone give me a time stamp i can watch up to without major spoilers?
I'm a huge Sanderson fan, and I'll admit the first 1/3 of Oathbringer was the hardest for me to get through. But the battle of Thaylen Field at the end more than made up for it. That was my favorite scene (scenes? there's a lot going on) of all of Stormlight so far. On a re-read, the first 1/3 wasn't nearly as bad for me.
@@Bookborn getting to the end was a slog for me. I understand why the climax made people love the book. But for me if I don’t love 70% of the book I don’t think it is worth reading. Especially a 1200 page behemoth. It’s me and not the book kind of situation.
Oh man, I just yesterday DNF-ed The Way of Kings after the 3rd chapter xD Edit: After chapter number 3 that is, not after 3 chapters including the pre-chapters
This series started out very strong. However, I didn't finish the 4th book. Shallan and Kallidan (?) Just kept repeating their arc over and over again. Very, very tedious. 😊
I'm with you. RoW was the worst book Sanderson has written. By the time the book ended and Kaladin (who was my favorite character) repeated the exact same character arc again, I was asking myself why Sanderson just didn't kill him off if he didnt have anything new for him to do.
It’s difficult because I really love how Kaladin is a character with depression who doesn’t get a magic fix. He didn’t “beat depression” because in life you also don’t ever beat depression. You learn to manage it. Sanderson himself said that Kaladin has turned a corner and things will look up for him now, but idk I find it a very important plot point! That said, everyone has different tastes!
@@Bookborn for me it wasn’t so much that Kaladin didn’t get a magic cure for his depression as the fact that he did. He spends the entire book sinking lower and lower struggling with the same things he’s struggled with for 3 books and then magically when the plot needs him to, he says some magic words, again, and everyone is saved, again. Too many characters have plot armor and saying the phrases has just become a deus ex machina device to save the characters at the end. I also, had major issues with the Shadesmar subplot and the flashbacks felt really clunky in book 4. Navani was the standout of RoW IMO.
I loved Way of Kings and Words of Radiance but I thought Oathbringer was a step down in quality and Rhythm of War is the worst book Sanderson has ever written (at least since Elantris). I'm cautiously optimistic for Wind and Truth but part of me thinks these books are just too big and he should be taking more time with them... fingers crossed.
thank you so much for posting this! all of my physical copies of stormlight come in december (as those editions are not available in my country) and i wouldn’t have had the time to reread otherwise. appreciate this🤍🤍🤍
"I've got a quick recap for you!" (then proceeds to make a 90 minute video).
JK, I'm here for it. Looking forward to Book 5
Tbh keeping every 1200 page book to under 15 minutes is a very quick recap considering the audio book of them are 30+ hours 🤣🤣

You are a hero for doing this! Most books start to fade from my memory within a year.
rereading the full series before the Wind and Truth. I'm in the middle of the Oathbringer right now!
I think I'm going to try to reread too...we'll see if I make it lmao. Haven't started yet ☠
Same!! Just got to the part where Gavilar requests Dalinar to go to the rift and quell the rebellion 🫢🫢
Bookborn to the rescue! You have no idea how much I need this recap! I’ll be watching this in chunks. 😊
Yay!! ☺
Yes!! As someone with NO time for a reread, thank you so much!
It's not like they are exactly the lightest books to just throw in between other books 🤣 I'm so glad it's helpful!
This is incredible! Well done, you!
I DID IT. ITS DONE 😭
This is EXACTLY the video I was hoping someone would make! Thank you, Bookborn!
Thanks Brian! You excited for Wind and Truth??

Came here to like the video and to say thanks for posting it in podcast form. So excited for the listen!
This is amazing! Not all heroes wear capes. Thank you!
I’m impressed you got a complete recap under 90 minutes
You feed us so well, thank you for your service 🤍
Thank you so much for this. I've been desperate for a good recap.
Omg yess thanks for the effort, has been a while since I read the series, will listen to this right away this evening!
This makes me feel so much more ready to read the preview chapters, thank you!
Sorry my cat was posessed by the Unmade mid-filming
It just kinda happens sometimes, you know how it is
This is great.
Atrocities aside this was a fantastic recap, thank you!
LMAO! Just call me the blackthorn, committing pronunciation atrocities everywhere 😌
@@Bookborn “blackthorn” is actually the correct pronunciation of “bookborn”

Just finished my re read the other day. ready for wind and truth.
THANK YOU FOR THIS!! It is much appreciated 🙏
I'm on my first Sanderson book, Warbreaker. Just gonna...put this in Watch Later so I can watch it a couple years from now 😅
Ok but that's such a good pick to start congratulations

Thank you so much for this recap it's really help 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💖💖💖
Greetings from Argentina
Thanks for this! Even though I'm trying to do a reread of the series before December, I don't know if I can get them all read. This is helpful!!
Just want to say thank you and CONGRATULATIONS. This must have taken ages 😅
Thank you very much, it did 😂 I think this finally unseated Way of Kings Prime as the longest a video has every taken me to create.
Bless you for this
I only have book 4 left of my re-read, but this is great and very helpful!

I want to watch the whole video already, but haven't read stormlight yet
I *almost* can't believe we're getting Stormlight 5 before The Winds Of Winter. Emphasis on ALMOST
44:42 "Looshee" 😂 😂
Damn! I am doing read along of the Wind and Truth. I cannot read Stromlight archives again
Your pronunciation of "Shinovar" is only acceptable because I agree with your pronunciation of "Sadeas". "Jasnah" is still a sin.
This is wild I just finished RoW today!

lol I say Jasnah and Adolin the same ways
And you are sooooo right for that

There’s time stamps in the description - just avoid RoW all together I’d say!
When can we prepare for a fire and blood video
will you going to do favorite scenes of asoiaf
Would you complete reading malazan?
“Quick recap” haha
Hey 120 hours of audio book content into under an hour (my recap is 57 min) is quick imo 🤣
@@Bookborn Yeah, I mean, I don’t want Brandon to write less. I’m glad Wind and Truth will be the absolute unit that it’s become.

a girl likes Catelyn and suddenly she's a MOASH APOLOGIZER!! smh the shade the disrespect on my NAME
Lift uses Lifelight, not Stormlight. Totally different form of “Light”.
I say that in this recap? In the rhythm of war part. Did I slip up somewhere else?
I just finished oathbringer. Unfortunately it made me DNF Stormlight. Happy to see a lot of people love it.
