- So this month, I headed on down to Collinsville to catch one of there Mods as a last-minute effort to get a video up for this month, and boy was I in for a surprise! Turns out, this isn't your average Modulator... It's actually a Whelen in disguise! It has an ESC-2020 560Hz Whelen panel rather than a stock FS control panel. When it wound up, it sure took me by surprise. I now am personally calling it "THE WHELENATOR". I hope you all enjoy this month's video. Thanks for watching, and Happy New Year to you all!
Wow, it sounds great! Imo, the lower frequency tones from the Whelen controller must carry far better than the standard 850hz or 850/1020hz FS-UV tones!
This is a first, thank you for recording this. Awesome!
How's your new horn doing?
Woah...you usually see Whelens on UV’s, not the other way around! Great video!!
Real
Veary intresting. This is, the first Modulator. I've seen running on a whelen Controllor Nice catch.
That looks more like a ESC-2030 panel... either way, it's really cool to see a FS siren on a Whelen controller! Usually it's the other way around.
That's what fascinated me about it.
I rember these
WPS-4016
Ah, yes that would have made more sense.
Cool, I believe this is the first video of an FS siren on a Whelen controller....I was about to comment about how this sounded like a Whelen xD.
So now we have
A Whelen Running On UV
And a UV Running on Whelen
That's a cool FS Modulator 4016!
Holy crap! Now that is cool
That's amazing, Whelen's tones sound a bit odd when they're being output from a MOD, nice video!
firefreak57 Sounds tinny
I've noticed that with upgraded WS-2000 and WS-3000 sirens as well. If I'm not mistaken it's because the drivers are smaller and use a different diaphragm material. I'm not too sure what materials Community Sound uses to make the diaphragms for Whelen, but the 100 watt drivers from Atlas are made of phenolic.
I found a modulator 1004 in Bartlesville Oklahoma and it runs on a siratone control box
dan nolen racing Wait what?!?! Is there any videos of the siren going off??
I believe that's actually an ESC-2030, wind-up is a bit too slow for a 2020. Regardless, nice find!
I noticed that after i uploaded. thanks for the info tho
Here u can see the rare Whelen WPS-4016
Omg amazing
Whelen in disguise
“Whalen Modulator WPS-4016” ahh siren
Doesn't turn this into a Whelen just makes it even louder.
Hopefully those drivers can handle that lower pitch of Whelen’s…
@Byron Rieckman Yeah but lower frequencies are harder on the drivers which can blow them out
Whelen WPS 4016
This siren is cursed.
Federal Whelen - WPS-4016
Whelen Signal - MPS-4016
very rare to me
Whelenlator
ive seen this thing, i had pictures on my old phone
Is this one by splash city/collinsville water park? I live in collinsville and I've heard that one before it got the new whelen panel
No, it's more near Maryville. In fact, until I recorded it, I always thought it was on the Maryville system because it was so close to Maryville. Apparently, Collinsville's system was larger than I realized.
I hear airhorn ambience
Bet the coverage is better than it would be with a UV.
Seems like it to me.
Whoa, that's awesome!
Right?
bruh is this runing with a whelen control box?
oh it is ok thats rare then(I read description)
Sounds Like Whelen WPS FS Modulator 4016
Should be a Whelen WPS 4016
Theses a 435hz in the background for my subscribers listening to my playlist
I'm thinking maybe 2030 can't do voice, but 2020 can, or its the other way around. Vortex can't do voice, so I'm thinking it's something to do with the controllers
How are the 100-watt drivers running on a 400-watt amp? I know you can run 4 speakers on 1 amp, but wouldn't that mess the impedance up?
@J19_vlogger74 I'm not entirely sure. I'm sure I had that info somewhere, but it was so many years ago, that info's been lost to time. Perhaps I'll have to swing by this one again to see what I can find...
What all are we hearing in the background? Definitely hear some other Whelen's doing various tones.
squiddy7863 You’re hearing the air horn signal
At least 3 of them were Maryville's System doing full alert, and maybe a few leftover whelens from Collinsville's system still doing fast wail. I know there's at least one STH-10 mixed in there too.
@@thattechdude I kinda heard some Whelen airhorns
I wonder what federal signal has to say about this funny sighting
Nothing pleasant, I'm sure.
ThatTechDude haha yeah
How loud was it?
It was pretty loud for a mod.
Is that granite city going off
No, that's Collinsville, although they do sound similar.
Oh okay because I hear all the other towns after that siren stop
I hear SD-10.
Yes. Collinsville has a few.
What Collinsville PD freq did you use?
None, actually. I forgot to grab my radio scanner on the way out the door. :/
Is there a 435 or 465hz I hear in the background
Yes, there is a 465hz vortex not to far from this one.
It sounded like a 435hz at first
@@rockstar5919 there's one of those close by too.
So yeah I was looking for the 435hz in the background not the 465hz
@@rockstar5919 I have a video on that one.
