Yet another great video that I personally find very useful. I own a high mileage F11 520d and its off-side rear air suspension is constantly altering between being fine and normal and lowering itself mostly (and luckily) when the car is stationary. The air suspension is able to maintain its level for many days when "in a good mood" without assistance from the air compressor, so I do not think that the rubber balloon or valve, etc. is at fault. There may as well just be a shorted wire there. The point I'm making here is that I always wondered about the workings of such systems (i.e. where the angle/level height sensor could be). I suspect that such faults are often addressed or fixed by replacing modules/parts that are otherwise fully functional. Also, the fault would soon reappear... Many thanks again for clarifying the issue for us.

Barna Soós check for a leaking air spring!
They often fail on this model.
There are very small leaks and they are hard to find.
As the airspring changes position it can temporarely seal it self.
      Good Luck!

DiagnoseDan Many thanks DiagnoseDan for that suggestion. I would more than happily check the airspring for leaks but unfortunately don't have access to a garage or a proper lift. I have seen here on UA-cam another chap check for leaks with a spray of soapy water.

I have a 2012 Audi a 8L. I replaced a leaking right front strut as well as replacing the negative battery cable in connector in the trunk. The suspension will operate for about 10 or 15 minutes and then the yellow light will come on and disable the suspension system. I have also noticed that if I am at idle when I first get in the car and start it if I sit for a few minutes without moving the light can come on then as well. I have raise the car to the lift mode and then put it in Jack mode and there is no decrease in height was left overnight. I do notice a difference in the amount of height at the different wheels however. Nobody in my area seems to be able to diagnose what is wrong with my car. Driving around town I have no issues typically. If I get it on the highway usually after about 10 minutes the light will come on and disable this is suspension. I don’t know what to do with this car as I have had a couple people look at it to no avail. It’s driving me crazy and making me want to get rid of the car. Any ideas? Thank you so much for your time.

Hello Dan, again a Video it´s very very well. Thanks a lot for the work and behind the scenes, the cutting, editing, and to your son behind the cam. There is one thing i ask my self and want to know your oppinion: I learned never use a Ohmmeter/Multimeter and check a cable for resistance if a CPU is on it. Because the current of the Ohmmeter is very low, but can destroy or damage the electronic in the CPU. You didnt, but you did testet the 2 cables for ground with a testlamp. Isn´t it dangerous cause of the current? I was curios and tested the current draw of my Powerprobe 3 and my testlamp. Testlamp 100mA and now watch out: The Powerprobe always sends 500mA without pressing the button. So in the circle from battery trough every component you check including the CPU gets 500mA. Isn´t dangerous? I´m wrong or right? Thank you Mr. Godfather of Diagnose! :-)

    • @Diagnosedan
      @Diagnosedan  6 років тому

Unbekannter Unbekannter It's always best to be as carefull as you can.
I'm not sure how much current the powerprobe takes but I'm pretty sure it's safe.
      I never experienced any problems.
As you saw in the video the ground was not a hard ground because it would not light the testlight.
So not much current can flow(high recistance).
But you are right to be carefull!

Incandescent. And yes, because you need to load a circuit somewhat to test it properly.

When I was a kid I lived in Helmond and went to school in Eindhoven. I live in the States now, in Oregon. Really enjoy watching your videos and I've learned a lot. Thanks. What part of Holland do you live if I may ask?

Yeah a little, but not nearly as well. My Mother is Dutch. I've been trying to teach my 2 young children some Dutch. If I remember correctly our time zones are 12 hours apart. Hey thanks for teaching us some of your skills. Really enjoy your videos!

Dan, love the videos, but once again, as if by magic the wiring diagram pops up from nowhere? We all know half of the problem with diagnosis is knowledge, just a point, it may be a great Idea to mention the source of the wiring diagram information :) Keep up the great work...... Goats lol...
