I was there the day they filmed this. I was with Scissor Sisters who they filmed first. These guys came in as we were leaving and I had no idea who they were. God I wish I did, I would have stayed and taken a taxi home. Thundercat blows my mind!
Watching Thundercat move those fingers, I am convinced that if he were to suddenly become a supervillain who tickles his victims to death, he would be one of the most dangerous people who ever lived.
Daylight has to be one of the most underrated thundercat songs, live performances of this song were amazing, sad that he doesnt play it anymore live, same with Lotus and other old songs, also the old band was on point too.
How is it possible that Thundercat and the band can warp time and take both us and their music on a spiritual journey back in time to honour the sound of those pioneering ancestors and living heroes Duke, Clarke, Hendrix, SunRa, Wonder, Hancock, Zappa, Purdie,Connors, Carn plus many others . . . yet remain as current if not more important than any so called mainstream artist? This is beyond musicianship . . . this is 4 space farers channelling the deeper mysteries of the universe . . . one note at a time. Sublime.
That Daylight Outro sounds really similar to Fair Chance, just beautiful how you can have a song stuck on your mind for years till it gets made for real.
This all sounds and feels so infectious and beautiful. My favorite part of the set is the breakdown transition. Most specifically starting at 9:00 - end. That bop is too ill! imagine tripping balls, keyed, and buzzed and hearing this.
Thundercat...woooow another legendary, fantastic performance of him with other bassist...Daylight in other supersonic solo, different than that The Echo 2011 set in vimeo with Kamasi Washington. Wow...
As far as I know he wasn't happy with part of this performance and didn't want it ever to see the light of day, in my opinion it's one of the best live jazz/funk recordings, it's just off the hook!!
Interesting seeing Thundercat at this early stage. He has a much more colorful persona now, here he looks so clean cut & finding himself. Even his bass looks more generic.
Dude at 4:44 was like, "Oh? We singin?" Very talented musicians these guys are.
Thundercat’s brother! 😁
@@triviadude911 That's litty bro. Circulating the talent in the family.
They come from a musical family.
@@prettyawesomejm Yessir
Yeah man THE Ronald Bruner Jr, fuckin LEGENDARY
2 basses, drums and a keytar: We finally have the perfect band ensemble.
Think the one with six strings might as well be a 🎸
@@AurelianBrother no
@@AurelianBrother Its a six string bass
I don't know if he knows what he's done to us by showing us the sonic brilliance of the six-string bass' versatility in an ensemble.
It's weird seeing Thundercat not with his big custom bass and look that he has today haha
Hard to believe he's 36 and looks even younger now
@@jakholl fax
@@jakholl I legit thought he was mid to late 20’s
Also weird hearing him without his bass filters/octave that he uses live now
It's pretty cool to see cowbpy/mysterious stranger vibes from him though, he rocks it well

One of the best in t era facts
Watching Thundercat move those fingers, I am convinced that if he were to suddenly become a supervillain who tickles his victims to death, he would be one of the most dangerous people who ever lived.
Yep! Love how you think! He would be a supervillain tickler😂😂😂🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Hey girls...
I was thinking the same thing😂
That breakdown going from Ebm7 to Bmaj7 with the run back into Ebm7 repeat is where Them Changes chord progression came from ⚡⚡⚡
I thank god for thundercat everyday. Since George Duke died, I needed someone to pick up his role. Here it is. 🥰
Imagine if Thundercat played with Dweezil Zappa!!!
Amen to that, George was the soundtrack to my life 🎹🌈
As a HUGE George Duke fan from the early Aura Will Prevail days I LOVE Thundercat for bringing his music forward!
Drummer could easily play on The Mars Volta, damn. My guy had the groove on lockdown
it's thundercats brother, ronald! he played for Suicidal Tendencies and plays for Kamasi Washington now (or at least was)
Thundercat's brother on drums! RBJ is the man!
He is killer, but I do love Justin Brown with Cat maybe even more
@ it’s definitely a close one for me
Daylight has to be one of the most underrated thundercat songs, live performances of this song were amazing, sad that he doesnt play it anymore live, same with Lotus and other old songs, also the old band was on point too.
It's a real shame too. Daylight, Lotus, Is it Love? and Lone Wolf and Cub were my favorite of his live performances
Where the giants roam is the greatest ep. of all time.
It took me so long to realize that the drums don’t keep the beat in that song and I sat there and dissected it all day
I dig that they're running the background vocals through the keyboard.
As a big Thundercat fan, i wasn't to aware of Daylight, untill i heard it live at his concert.... its stay in my head for like a month...
4:43 - This is skill you definitely don't learn at music school :)
The Bruner brothers are simply incredible.
4:45 FACE JUST BEAUTIFULL
Thundercat the best thing that's happened to modern jazz.

I always thank the Lord for Thundercat in my night prayers.
@Tim Smith for sure.

Ahh man this is the best fusion I’ve ever heard…
bass players. coolest members of the band. prove me wrong
RIP GEORGE DUKE
Pharrell and Erykah Badu really got him on on those big ass hats back then
whenever i see ronald drumming i have the feeling hes about to fly away
Every one of these guys is outrageously shit hot at their instruments
I like this thundercat, sensitive, nostalgic, plus his brother on drums, two bases, the vocals, he should’ve kept this personel
Agree 100%
The catch by the drummer at 4:47 was phenomenal 👀 🙌🏾
My god, the return of George Duke at 10:34...I wish I could play my moog Liberation like this guy...and play my bass like Thundercat 🙏🏾
Gotta love Thundercat ❤❤❤
My mans at 4:44 was discombobulated
1975 George Duke!! Love it!!
11:12 THEM CHANGES
YESS BABY
All these musicians are absolute beasts, phenomenal
For Years, I've had to go watch this performance on Crackle, and finally it's on UA-cam!!!
Man these guys shred. RIP George Duke and MF DOOM
I can't stop listening to this
Fuck yeah. For love was the first song ever to make me cry. Love me some Golden Age of Apocalypse.
This is my favorite version of Daylight
This all sounds and feels so infectious and beautiful. My favorite part of the set is the breakdown transition. Most specifically starting at 9:00 - end. That bop is too ill! imagine tripping balls, keyed, and buzzed and hearing this.
You're really trying to feel it eh?
Imagine this performance with NPR Tiny desk quality sound 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
That literally brought me to tears!
this is seriously life-altering levels of hotness... so glad this is back on youtube.
Gorgeous. Seen him twice in 3 pieces. Would love to see this version of the band. Powerful. A starchild for sure.
I ain't gone cap dude one of the coldest period I can't stop listening to this 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Why did they wait 6 years to upload such a masterpiece!? Crazy to think I'm just seeing this
As far as I know he wasn't happy with part of this performance and didn't want it ever to see the light of day, in my opinion it's one of the best live jazz/funk recordings, it's just off the hook!!
The Drummer remains Me of the late grate Buddy Miles
that solo in Daylight was absolutely face melting.
its strange to say that that this is the strangest outfit I've seen thundercat wear lol
Crazy to see y friend Joel Whitley on secondary bass with these cats.
Absolutely DELIGHT to see them...kudos 👏👏🎏🎏🎉🎉👍👍😊
What a groovy performance, Thundercat is the man!
That walking bassline at 3:35 ❤
thank you whoever made this happen 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Love Thundercat and all of these guys are on fire !!
This is church right here
Very great concert, amazing musicians !
just... brilliant!

Same talent. Hush.
masterful
that keyboardist workin.
Those cymbals are really high lol
11:12 is them changes progression
I swear to god it looks like his fingers move at 1.5x speed. Inhumanely precise .
I listen to this daily
2 words: fucking incredible 🤘🏽🔥✊🏽
Wait, WAIT. *Is he playing bass like a guitar? How BOSS is that?* _ooh! how I would love a John Mayer collaboration._
He did collaborate with John Mayer on Mac Miller's tribute concert. Just search it on youtube
they also produced travis scott's astrothunder together
11:12 he had to sneak it in there somehow
Genios!!!
Great performance... great hat
Here born them changes melody 11:11
nice!
OooH ThunderCat is REALLY CUTE mmmmmmmmm I can now SEE him without all that clutter
What I would l o v e to know is the model of BD pedal this drummer cat's hitting!!
I remember having to go to Vimeo to look at this video like 5 years ago
I really dig this, but why am I hearing bits of "Sailing" by chris cross? LOL
nothing but exCeLLence
I remember watching this, by any chance can these be in more optimal stereo? I wanna blast this on my Hi-Fi.
that performance of daylight was pure filth
I watched 13:00 - 13:15 at half speed and it was still fast. :-)
who's this drummer?!?
His brother ! Ronald Bruner Jr.
His brother, Ronald Bruner Jr
His brother, Ronald Bruner Jr.
His bruner, Ronald Brother Jr
His ronald, Brother Bruner Jr

Really? a youtube ad mid song?
how can you mic the ride cymbal to have its attack louder than the wash!!?????
Depends on the cymbal and depends on the compression, also works better if you mic closer to the ride
Also taping the ride will reduce wash and increase attack
Get a dark dry ride
Is that his brother on drums?
Ronald jr.
wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!
What it would be like if Donny Hathaway played bass!
Can someone be so kind as to tell me the name of the microphone he's singing into?
Curt Rivadeneira Looks like an Electro-Voice RE20 to me
Its a ROde mic
New or old?
Old but LIT
2011
Crazy old, but this has been a performance I’ve returned to ever since
Keytar? Bro.

Who is that guy an keytar?
