It is amazing how many people today have no idea that Elvis grew up in abject poverty in a Black community in Tupelo, Mississippi. He absolutely knew what poverty and hunger was. It is said that Elvis was an extremely generous and thoughtful man, he never forgot what it was like as a child of poverty. We all must understand that poverty does not know color.
How bout we don’t care where he was from ? We just know he was racist and stole everything musically from black musicians. It’s amazing you don’t know that !
Young people dont realize Elvis was called the King of Rock and Roll. He is regarded as one of the most significant cultural figures of the 20th century.
Elvis was raised in the ghetto with his mama while his daddy was in prison. His mama gave him unconditional love & that’s what kept him going ! She believed in him when nobody else knew how great he was!❤️🙏🙏🙏
Hi dad was in prison for only 8 months but they were really poor. Enough for his dad to alter a check which got him in prison. But there was a lot of love in that poor little house.
Elvis was told when he was going to perform in Texas that he could leave the black girls home…..he demanded they be there and treated with the due respect or he wasn’t coming.
A very similar event happened in Atlanta, and a couple of other cities back then. It's insane at how many people hated him. He wrote "I can dream" after his best friend Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated.
@@CBChamberlain I've seen many black artists saying Elvis "stole" black songs and he only got famous at the time for being white. I hope you read your comments because you’ll learn a lot from us older ones who grew up listening to Elvis. The first time I heard this song, I was a little kid, playing outside. Someone had a radio and it came on. I got the same shivers you did when I heard it. Then, I cried and cried. It was like he was singing my life. The song still makes me shiver. And cry for all the kids that didn’t make it out.
If you knew him you’ll still know him....He’s not dead the entertainer is but Elvis Aron Presley is still alive!!!! Look up Pastor Bob Joyce on UA-cam! Elvis testified against the mafia and went in under the Witness protection program. He’s had a couple of identities since then but he’s Now Pastor Bob Joyce. His church is in Arkansas just across the Tennessee line from Graceland. Check out Bob Joyce and if you knew Elvis 🕺 you’ll know there’s no mistaking that voice or looks even if he does have white hair and and beard 🧔🏼 now! 😉
I was 7 when i first heard the song, and I had the same exact physiological reaction listening to the song. I remember it so vividly too. My auntie lived in Memphis, and every summer i would go down there and stay with her during the summer. She took me to Graceland for the first time, and for my birthday she got me the Elvis 30 greatest hits CD from the Elvis store across from Graceland. And as soon as we got back to her house I immediately went upstairs to play the CD. Once In the Ghetto came on and i listened to it, I just remember getting goosebumps and felt like a shiver was sent down my back while i was laying on the floor in the heat of the summer in Memphis. Having the opportunity to go to Graceland and Sun Studios and literally be physically immersed in a place in which so much world renowned talent and ground breaking history took place at and then my 7 year old brain trying to take in and process everything I just experienced that day while listening to his music and that song coming on literally changed and shaped my life from that day on. Im 27 now and in the ghetto still brings shivers to my spine and passion in my heart.
I saw this man live many times! He lived in the ghetto and listened to the soul music and gospel music and was kind to everyone! Amazing man and entertainer. Will never be another! Love your reaction❤️❤️❤️❤️
this is called talent . no auto tune no back beats . no synthesizes .. just pure talent . nothing in the so called music of today could match the talent of the artists and music from the 60s 70s and 80s
Elvis was always with the black community, because he got his roots from there. So much respect for him, his manager didn't want him to sing this song, but he still did.
I’m a old w/ lady, who grew up in the ghetto ,this song is one of my favorites. I am so happy you found Elvis..watching you watch him I could feel the goosebump’s! I remember the day Elvis died,it was a still ,warm day in the ghetto. Everyone wept. Love your channel, just subscribed.peace..always
I chuckle a bit as I find you have never heard this amazing man/singer before but then again, I'm 73 and have enjoyed Elvis since 1956. Enjoy you're delving into the wondrous voice of Mr. Elvis Presley and the most iconic singer in our musical history. He could virtually do it all and there is actually no comparison to any other singer performer in our American history. Enjoy your new found journey into the amazing vocal greatness of ... Elvis !!!
Elvis is still with us !!!! Look up Pastor Bob Joyce On UA-cam! Elvis testified against the mafia in a huge FBI sting operation! Which put Elvis & his family in great danger of the mafia hunting them down. So the Government in return for him testifying and putting a group of really bad guys away helped him fake his death... As well as put him in the Witness protection program! He’s had a few identities over the years but this last one he’s stuck with Pastor Bob Joyce. Kinda ironic his church ⛪️ in Arkansas is not very far from Graceland and Bob Joyce has been videoed taking black families (his guests) in Graceland in the middle of the night when Graceland is closed to the public. So why would a white haired 🧔🏼 bearded man that looks just like a 80’s Elvis and sings identical to a 80’s Elvis have his own keys 🔑 and clearances to Graceland ? Because it is the original Elvis “Aron” Presley! Not the wax body that was laid to rest in the grave marked Elvis “Aaron” Presley! The proof is there if you’ll only look 👀 and do your research. 😊😉
I'll say it like Elvis did. HE was not the KING...Elvis: pointed to heaven and said "there was only ONE King and he wasn't that". Of course we thought of him as the king of rock and roll. But, Elvis never liked being called that, and he would correct ppl when they called him that.
I grew up with 6 brothers and 2 sisters. I came from poverty, did 16 years in prison for Armed Robbery. My mother buried 2 of my brothers. Both from suicide. I'm 54 and my mother is 74. I grew up listening to Elvis. This song, I can sing with more passion. This is what I thought was a song for me. But she's not gonna have to bury me.
Hi! Your comment made me tear up! Your mum sounds like an amazingly strong lady! You sounds like an awesome person too! My childhood wasn’t great, but then we all have good and bad stuff in our lives! Please take care! Peace and Blessings to you and your family! From Australia.
Yes Elvis grew up in poverty. He was a twin but the other baby didn’t make it. He was very aware of the hardships in life at an early age. This song came out in 1969 and he wanted to bring awareness!! Everytime I hear this song I ball my eyes out; it speaks to my soul!!
Elvis will always be one of the greatest ever. He grew up very poor un the projects. He knew what he was talking about in this song. He never forgot how he grew up that's why he was so generous. I think its amazing that the young people of today are checking him out.
Every time I hear this song, when he gets to that part with "he dont get far. And his momma cries" my heart clenches. There is just something about that that keeps hitting me hard.
Elvis was different, and his perspective was different than great majority of the white people in the South, during that time period. Elvis grew up in the poorest parts of the South during the Great Depression and Segregation. And he understood the lowest depths of poverty. Only 4 white families on his block, he lived and played with black children while living in a 1 room shotgun house (shack) with a porch, and without electricity. How poor was Elvis? His twin brother, Jesse Garon Presley was born about 30 minutes before Elvis. Sadly, he was still born. The Presleys were so poor that they couldn't afford a coffin, so Jesse had to be buried in a shoebox. He was laid to rest in Priceville Memorial Gardens in Tupelo. The great legends of color in his era: BB King - Jackie Wilson - James Brown were there to witness Elvis‘ creativity. He was a one-of-a-kind super talent that grew up in the black community during the great depression and segregation in the deep South. His support for the civil rights movement is not known by the greater population in America. Clearly a terribly racist time Elvis put poverty and racial socialization on his platform. But he did it all through Music and his behind the scenes actions alone. He never got political I think that’s what actually made him so powerful and able to succeed. BB KING: 'Let me tell you the definitive truth about Elvis Presley and racism', The King of the Blues, B.B. King said in 2010. 'With Elvis, there was not a single drop of racism in that man. And when I say that, believe me I should know'. -- BB KING JAMES BROWN: “I wasn’t just a fan, I was his brother. He said I was good and I said he was good; we never argued about that. Elvis was a hard worker, dedicated, and God loved him … I love him and hope to see him in heaven. There’ll never be another like that soul brother”. --- JAMES BROWN (During Elvis' private family wake, James was the LAST ONE TO LEAVE. 3 and a half hours later -- it took several of his security guards to help him out of the room. James was devastated -- they sang Gospel together to all hours of the night at each others' homes. James Brown was considered family by the Presley they were so close.) JACKIE WILSON: "A lot of people have accused Elvis of stealing the black man's music, when in fact, almost every black solo entertainer copied from Elvis." --- JACKIE WILSON (Elvis quietly paid for Jackie's medical expenses until the day he passed away in 1977. Before Jackie's stage accident he would carry a small signed photo of Elvis in his pants pocket. Every day, bar none.) RANDY JACKSON (of the Jackson 5): "Elvis used Rock and Roll music to bridge the gap between whites and minorities. He was a wonderful person." LITTLE RICHARD "He sung my Tootie Fruti & by him singing it, made it bigger & made ME bigger" And then he said: “I thank God for Elvis Presley. I thank the Lord for sending Elvis to open the door so I could walk down the road...”- Little Richard
@@schpludoinkle He was totally unique. Most white men in the south disagreed with him or was jealous of him. 99% of white people male or female during his day or even today had/have no idea how he grew up and why he felt the way he did. Growing up in predominantly Southern black neighborhoods named Shakerag and Beale Street during the Great Depression, in a shotgun home/shack with no electric, puts him in a very small company. How many families (white or black) had to bury a stillborn twin in a shoe box? Thats the kind of poverty thats rare and then to feel for black people as a white kid in that era and location? He was the first to break segregation laws in Memphis. I stick to my 99%.
Hey Depper! I'm BAAAACK! here is what you wrote again and keep writing, "His support for the civil rights movement is not known by the greater population in America." Once again you have mad this stupid comment with no proof supplied. If it is not known by wider America, why don't you tell me where you obtained this information from? Care to indulge me on this proof? Or is it all in your HEAD! If you can't supply the evidence then it is in your make believe wishful thinking.
You really picked a GOAT this time!! The more you hear of Elvis, the more you will want to hear! Check out "Suspicious Minds", " I can't stop loving you", "Trying to Get to You" , "Bridge over Troubled Water", I think he has about 800 songs! Never been another like him !! Congrats!!
I think this song came out in 1969. Over 50 years ago! Great music will always be great. And Elvis was the best! He was older than my parents, but I still love his music. Especially "In the Ghetto", "Suspicious Minds", "Kentucky Rain" and "Burning Love". So, glad you are willing to listen and appreciate his talent.
You've struck gold with Elvis Presley! Loved your reaction and subbed! He recorded over 700 songs in many different genres and often combined genres within one song. It was so cool how you noticed his swag right away. When he entered a room, even people with their backs toward him actually felt his presence. His life story is as unique and fascinating as his talent. The more you see and hear the more you'll want to see and hear. And always expect the unexpected.
Elvis grew up dirt poor in Tupelo Mississippi ghetto. He had no electricity nor indoor plumbing. His entire extended family moved to Memphis when Elvis was 14. The Presley’s lived in projects in Memphis, which was a step Up from where he came from. The rest is history. No one like him. He did not steal music from anyone. He grew up in Black church.
Big Elvis fan. I wouldn’t quite call it stealing music. But he never did write his own songs very often. He covered a lot of chuck berry, righteous brothers, beetles, etc.
Elvis did grow up in the ghetto. He learned his music through a combination of rhythm of blues, country, and western. It was a mix of the best of the best. When he first started all the commotion surrounding his way of displaying, his music was to dance really through the waist down. They wanted to have his music pulled off the shelves and rock ‘n’ roll be destroyed. But that never happened as you can see, he is the top selling artist in the world. I’m 62 years old. I’ve been an Elvis fan for 60 years. I remember hearing them for the first time on television yes black-and-white great big old tank of a TV but I thought to myself. wow I love this music, anyway, my recommendations for music for you to listen to my favourite of all time. American trilogy. Aloha from Hawaii 1973 album. I would love to see the look on your face when you hear him hit the notes that he can hit. God bless you son keep doing what you’re doing your pleasure to listen to. That’s why I became a subscriber.
@Daniel Haynes I also was fortunate to see Mac Davis at the MGM on numerous occasions. My sister, friend & I had front row seats & had several women behind us who were jealous because he kissed all 3 of us. My husband couldn't understand why I was so upset when I heard he had passed away. He was a very talented singer & songwriter.
@@notagain5045 That is so cool! I'll never forget just how warm and personable he was to this 16-year old zit-faced busboy. He came up to me at our hometown country club in our "19th Hole" bar, after he and his band played a round of golf. The local club members were all around him and his band members so he politely excused himself and walked up to the bar to order a drink. As he waited, he noticed me standing off to the side, in my ugly gold jacket (ugh), waiting to serve water to anyone in need. He then just started talking to me, as pleasant as anyone you've ever met. ~ Sadly, I never got to attend one of his concerts.

Mac Davis wrote "In the ghetto". Elvis made it famous. Look up Mac , he was a great Country singer/songwriter. Look at the live performances on UA-cam. American Trilogy is amazing. Live from Hawaii, Comeback special 1968, are historic. Elvis is everything you heard about & more. His gospel songs got 2 Grammys. Elvis was born po & gave him a gift from heaven.
Elvis Presley was one of the first of artist to mix genres together he is songs. He would sing Gospel, Blues, R&B, Country; and of course Rock & Roll. He became know for his rock & roll and actually was known as the King of Rock & Roll. There are so many songs that he sang. Here are some of my favorites: Always on My Mind; Jailhouse Rocks; Suspicious Minds; Can't Help Falling in Love; That's Alright; and Don't Be Cruel. The list can go on and on. There were also movies that he made if you want to check those out as well.
This song is based on a true story. A poor young black man tried to steal to buy food for his newborn. When Elvis was offered his song he didn't hesitate to record it. There was a special place in his heart for the poor & black. He grew up with both.
So glad to see young ones like you discover the great talent and voice of ELVIS… Please react to If I Can Dream Walk a mile in my shoes another message songs you will love for sure 👑🎤

Bravo to you! 👏👏👏👏👏 You’ll appreciate this song ~ and others far more if you listen straight through and try to resist interrupting in the middle, honestly. ❤️🎶
He’s music , he’s style and lyrics hits you right in the heart, total impact . One of the best songs is “suspicious minds “ live in Vegas . Just amazing and he also performed in Hawaii and that was so epic practically the whole world watched the show . You gotta check it out .
Think about something, when did Elvis sing this? What was his target audience with this song? Elvis was preaching to the white folks and to all of us. The sad part and as this song eludes to that same Ghetto situation exists in Chicago and other cities today. Why? Because far to many of us have "turned our heads and looked the other way". As far as which a good Elvis song to listen to? ANY of them! But if you want to take a deeper look into what this man was about you might want to make your next one IF I CAN DREAM. Enjoy this journey you have embarked on...Elvis will not disappoint.
I just have to get on here and talk about the goosebumps On my arms listening to this man singing a song. And I've always gotten them 😮😢every time he sings slow songs RIP KING
From the New Elvis movie Elvis said a Reverend once told him "that which is too dangerous to say . . . SING! ELVIS sang "In the Ghetto" at a time when it needed to be heard.
Elvis recorded over 700 songs in his life you havent even begun to scratch the surface -, he started out growing up dirt poor in tupelo mississippi singing in black churches and many of his songs have a gospel feel. Theres a reason he was nicknamed the king, his voice sounded like no other and his shows were always entertaining.
When he recorded his first song at Sun Studio while working as truck driver around Memphis (That's Alright Mama) and when it became a huge hit, everybody thought it was a black man singing it. My mom was one and said she was shocked to find out he was white. It made headlines back in those days. Watch new Elvis movie on HBO.
Great reaction brother. Elvis was King. His music, his voice was what was in his heart. Many other performers who reach great heights do the same. It's their persona, they feel, they put it out there .
I just joined your group because of this elvis reaction. I’m nearly 60 and never tire of the king 🤴. My hips hurt my joints creak. But when elvis plays I can still wiggle. When E first played the International Hotel in Las Vegas, the management took issue with the fact his backing singers were Black to the point that they were happy with Elvis coming thru the front door but his backing singers come in thru the back door. Elvis said "My girls go thru the same door I do or I ain't comin'"
Glory Glory hallelujah, don't cry daddy, listen to his amazing gospel album he touched me. Elvis snuck to the black side of town to hear the singers in church that's what inspired him to be what he ultimately became. Oh Elvis was a beautiful soul . I was lucky I got too see Elvis in 1972 my first concert . Elvis grew up very poor . He was born in a one room home in Tupelo Mississippi . When his dad got out of prison for forgery of a 5.00 dollar check he moved them to Memphis Tennessee. They lived in a the projects there he said at one time they would have no food and a neighborhood lady would feed the family . Elvis never forgot where he came from . You have to listen to his Suspicious Minds Live in Las Vegas , his If I Can Dream in his White Outfit Live 68 comeback special . Kentucky Rain , Rubbernecking , Jailhouse Rock so many to watch . Elvis was born in Tupelo Mississippi.A very religious man himself Grew up poor lost his twin brother and early life. Who knows sadness and he has an understanding of the hardship that may or may not be from the inner, actually won, a gospel award for the song in negative. Another great powerful song. It's called suspicious minds, especially the live version concert.Check it out
Your very welcome to Elvisworld. Next song by Elvis If I Can Dream pick the one where he wears a white suit, it's a tributesong to M.L.King who was shot in Memphis Elvishometown a couple of months before.
I was about 6 years old when Elvis died. I watched my Mom weep. Everyone in my family cried as the reality set in that a true talent was gone. I am also from MS and we are so proud of Elvis, Muddy Watters, BB King, and the many talented artists from here. Yes, Elvis was truly a man of the people and performed songs from his heart. He was ahead of his time both musically and on a social justice front. He was also very easy on the eyes ;)
Mac Davis wrote this song and Elvis identified with and sang it as part of his "come back" tour. You asked which songs are Elvis's best. All of them. Enjoy. Great reaction, thanks! I grew up in a part of UK in the 50s where we only had two choices for dinner. Eat it or leave it.
Please hear the song 'If I Can Dream'...the live version from the '68 Comeback Special. ...Also please see the video, Elvis and the Black Community. You might also like to react to the trailer for the movie about his life to be released this June. The movie is simply called 'Elvis'. As a senior who lived through the 50's, 60's and 70's adoring Elvis, it warms my heart to see you young people learning who he was and helping to keep his memory alive. He literally changed the course of American music and was a legend in his own time. He was also such a caring soul, who helped so many people. There was nothing that compared to seeing him live in concert! I cherish those memories.
This brought tears to my eyes when I was a teen when it came out. Still does , there is so much emotion in this song. Suspensous Minds, is another great of his!!!💥God Bless.💖👍🌻
I used to sit and listen to his records and I would play the song over and over when I was a little kid. I would start crying. It touched my heart so deeply. When you have time please listen to If I Can Dream. And Unchained Melody. Or one of the earlier ones when he was very young old Shep. And of course and of course for fun romantic surrender. Elvis had a three octave range. The movies he did were because the colonel had him do them he didn't want to do the silly teeny bopper movies, he wanted to get back to some of the serious ones like King Creole or Jailhouse Rock. He was offered the role in a star is born with Barbra Streisand but his manager the colonel blew that for him. He started recording stuff he cared about in 1968. He was deeply affected by Martin Luther King's assassination. After that 68 come back to her he decided to do songs that matter to him. There's a lot of them. Thank you for your review. I found it very interesting. By the way yes Elvis grew up in the projects he moved from one project house to an apartment building in the projects so yes Elvis did grow up in the ghetto. his father went to jail and his mom struggled and they lived in abstract poverty. God bless you and thank you for this wonderful review and I hope you enjoy listening to some of his songs, I think you'll like the post 1968 songs the best.
He was an incredible man, In real life, he also gave cars ,money, food to people in need, his daughter did a clauberation of in the ghetto. Its on tube very moving as well made me cry as well.look for Elvis / Lisa singing in the Ghetto so beautiful. I think you have beautiful emotions, never be inbarresed and your beautifu
Hey I was just a kid when I heard this on the radio. On the original version his voice is younger and his range will give you chills. I love Elvis I hope someday the world understands and celebrates how we ARE all the same. I love your content. Keep it up. God bless❤️
Elvis grew up dirt poor with black friends very humble and generous and gave back another great song you need to hear him sing If I can dream in his white suit on his 68 comeback special this song was written for Elvis because he believed in the civil rights you won't be disappointed
Elvis has had many hit songs in a wide range of styles such as Rock, Pop, Country. Gospel, R&B, etc.. Most of his songs are fun type and he'll often include some dancing in his live performances. Anyway, another great hit where he put forth an absolutely awesome performance was a very special song (especially white suit performed on a TV special) check it out...A truly amazing song which he gave us his all, not just his great voice, but the true feeling he expressed was incredible.!!! Oh. The song is If I can Dream.

Hell yes

I love how you understand Elvis's true feelings coming from his singing. He was brought up poor and understands how it feels. RIP Elvis...💖
Word.
Elvis was always with the black community, because he got his roots from there. So much respect for him, his manager didn't want him to sing this song, but he still did.
he was not.
I'm a 60 year old white dude from rural Canada and this song breaks my heart.
Elvis was born into poverty, served in the military, and sang beautiful gospel. Legend.
Growing up listening to Elvis and seeing you younger people listening with the respect he deserves does my heart good
I chuckle a bit as I find you have never heard this amazing man/singer before but then again, I'm 73 and have enjoyed Elvis since 1956. Enjoy you're delving into the wondrous voice of Mr. Elvis Presley and the most iconic singer in our musical history. He could virtually do it all and there is actually no comparison to any other singer performer in our American history. Enjoy your new found journey into the amazing vocal greatness of ... Elvis !!!
Elvis never forgot where he came from.
Remember, this is LIVE. No auto tune
Watching people listen to the greats for the first time is so much fun. Great video!
I grew up an Elvis fan still am
I like watching them too
Elvis is still with us !!!! Because it is the original
Elvis “Aron” Presley! Not the wax body that was laid to rest in the grave marked
Elvis “Aaron” Presley!
The proof is there if you’ll only look 👀 and do your research.
😊😉
Elvis was the king. This song brings tears to my eyes.
still is will never stop being the king
Jesus is King. Elvis didn't like being called King.
Omg I'm crying over your comment so 😥

“If I Can Dream” his salute to MLK. You won’t get to the end without crying.
So true, I cry every time
and JFK, RFK, and very important our troops fighting in Vietnam.
Elvis was very influenced by black gospel music from his early very poor rural years growing up.
Check out his gospel songs.
@@finallythere100 Yes he was. I just don’t agree with people who say he “stole” anyone’s music.
Elvis sang beautiful Gospel songs. He was an incredible showman with a beautiful soul and voice.
Me,too, I cried when I first heard it. Still do.
-- BB KING
JAMES BROWN: “I wasn’t just a fan, I was his brother. James Brown was considered family by the Presley they were so close.)
JACKIE WILSON: "A lot of people have accused Elvis of stealing the black man's music, when in fact, almost every black solo entertainer copied from Elvis." --- JACKIE WILSON (Elvis quietly paid for Jackie's medical expenses until the day he passed away in 1977. Before Jackie's stage accident he would carry a small signed photo of Elvis in his pants pocket. Every day, bar none.)
RANDY JACKSON (of the Jackson 5): "Elvis used Rock and Roll music to bridge the gap between whites and minorities. He was a wonderful person."
LITTLE RICHARD "He sung my Tootie Fruti & by him singing it, made it bigger & made ME bigger" And then he said: “I thank God for Elvis Presley. I thank the Lord for sending Elvis to open the door so I could walk down the road...”- Little Richard
Thank you for this informative post, very enjoyable to read. 🕺
Thank you for posting this . Very interesting information. Elvis forever .
99 percent of white people? You need to check your perspective against white people
@@schpludoinkle He was totally unique.
Hey Depper! I'm BAAAACK!
here is what you wrote again and keep writing,
"His support for the civil rights movement is not known by the greater population in America."
Once again you have mad this stupid comment with no proof supplied.
Congrats!!
Simon and Garfunkel even thought his version of bridge over troubled waters was better than their original. ❤️
yes he did sing around 800 songs, and never wrote one of them.
Ich glaube anschließend, daß du alles nachplapperst ,zappa fan, hahahaha
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 What's your point? How many singers write their songs?
@@kschestnut it only has to be one more than Elvis. Does that answer your question?
The lead backup singer was Whitney Huston’s mother! Listen to Elvis sing “If I could dream” he did it after MLKs death.
here?
I think this song came out in 1969. Over 50 years ago! Great music will always be great. And Elvis was the best! He was older than my parents, but I still love his music. Especially "In the Ghetto", "Suspicious Minds", "Kentucky Rain" and "Burning Love". So, glad you are willing to listen and appreciate his talent.
Elvis was a pioneer of music and that is why he is the King.
I always get goosebumps when I hear him sing. He was a kind, spiritual, hunk of a man.
Elvis grew up dirt poor in Tupelo Mississippi ghetto. He had no electricity nor indoor plumbing. His entire extended family moved to Memphis when Elvis was 14. The Presley’s lived in projects in Memphis, which was a step
Up from where he came from. The rest is history. No one like him. He did not steal music from anyone. He grew up in Black church.
Help i need somebody, hahahaha hahahaha

Big Elvis fan. I wouldn’t quite call it stealing music. But he never did write his own songs very often. He covered a lot of chuck berry, righteous brothers, beetles, etc.
Elvis deserves all respect and recognition for all he did.
This song was actually written by the late great Mac Davis (whom I was fortunate enough to meet in 1977 or 78). A great performer in his own right!
Mac Davis was definitely a favorite of mine! ♥️
No Sir, Mr Earl Brown wrote "If I Can Dream"
@@Marklo4n That may be, but THIS song is "In The Ghetto", not "If I Can Dream".
He grew up dirt poor and never forgot his roots. He was told not to record this but he insisted.
Elvis could sing the phone book and he'd still bring a tear to your eye ...
that was a fantastic Reaction. Just about every song Elvis sung, he made the song his own. In my opinion they are all great!
I was lucky enough to have seen Elvis do this song in person and I cried for the rest of the show. Long Live the King!
Elvis Presley’s best music is his gospel.🙏🏻🙌
Sure was and still is ! Elvis Aron Presley is still alive and Well! Check out:

There's a reason he's called The King. He always will be. No one can replace him.

Elvis recorded over 700 songs in his life you havent even begun to scratch the surface -, he started out growing up dirt poor in tupelo mississippi singing in black churches and many of his songs have a gospel feel. In my 56 years of living, I have never been able to listen to this song without tears 😢
I also watched my mom break down in uncontrollable tears when elvis passed away...way too young.

Elvis is da GOAT 🐐 my father introduced me to his music as a kid and I still listen to it today. GO WATCH THE MOVE ELVIS 2022 I freaking loved it
Elvis has had many hit songs in a wide range of styles such as Rock, Pop, Country.
“Kentucky Rain” is one of my favorites by him… You should also react to Johnny Cash… he’s also an old school legend who had swag
did you know Elvis and Johnny lived not 40 miles apart when they were kids? Elvis in the Lauderdale housing projects in Memphis....Johnny Cash on a small farm near Dyess, AR
@@leroyleach7581 Yep. I was born and raised in Memphis, and even have been to Cash’s childhood home in Dyess
One of my favourites too.
Feel his music , hear his words , LISTEN WITH YOUR HEART
Elvis had some Native American heritage and grew up in poverty in Mississipp. He’s certainly real in his songs and I love him for it
