Dude! So glad I found you! Great channel, great stuff!! Your videos are super encouraging and inspiring me to think outside of my little box. It’s a good thing 👍😃
I have always loved feathers and collect them. These will be fun to make. It seems it would be difficult while texturing to keep from biting into the vein on the opposite side unless they were lined up exactly perfectly on top of each other. How would you do that???? Your feathers are gorgeous! Thank you for this tutorial!❤
I have improved my skills since this video. I use my finger to feel the tip of the pliers to ensure that i do not bite the bottom vein. I tried a mirror, but it didnt work very well. Good luck!
Oh a mirror would totally screw with my brain! Ha ha! I already had planned on sacrificing my finger for a barricade for saving the vein. I also saw that you do not have to cut clear to the vein on every squeeze either. It would be a pain to flip it over to check each time if you were catching it or not. But I have been known to do meticulous things like that. Not wound as tight any more and will embrace the organic and rustic look as being passable. Makes life easier to not be a triple AAA any longer striving for perfection.
BTW what is the Harbor Freight tool you used to squeeze the texture? I tried to get a clear look at it but couldn’t. It evidently is not sharp enough to cut clear through when you squeeze it but just makes a nice deep line. What a nice fast way to texture - time saver! I can see this same tool being used to line texture around a back plate of a bezel too. Very cool!
They are just regular wire cutters. You buy some that are too sharp, sand the edges a little. Or just practice on copper. Eventually they will get duller with time!
Those feathers have movement…great ❤❤❤
