    I made these too. Thank you for the tutorial. I did have to make a few changes to get a better fit. I made two versions, one from a pair of lace tights and another using stretch fabric. For both, I had to alter the front of the sleeve for it to lay better. You have to cut the curve on the front sleeve where it is more straight and not as deep as the back part of the sleeve. On the lace tights version, I attached the legs to a back piece made from stretch fabric. I cut the waistband off and sewed it across the top and sides for a snug fit. Both versions turned out great. I hope this helps. I could not have done this without the Sparkle Belly tutorial.

    Your explanations and demonstrations are so clear and precise, with just right amount of detail. I'm looking forward to trying some of these when I get my sewing machine next week.

    I've seen this video many times in the past. You should mention that you need to wash the fabric before anything else because it oftentimes shrinks. To make sure the shrug fits perfectly, the fabric has to have been washed before.

    Hi Mao, is it possible to make a shrug out of one whole piece of fabric, instead of tailoring separate sleeve pieces and a back piece? Would it work?
    Thank you 💕

      Interesting idea! I've seen a pattern where you take a long piece of fabric, then sew the ends together to make sleeves. But it'll result in a very loose fitting shrug :)

      @@sparklybelly Thank you, Mao, I ended up using your idea from this video instead of trying to invent a one piece garment 😆 And the end result turned out beautiful! My concern was that it's a very delicate fabric and I didn't want the needle to have to go through it too much, so it doesn't leave it vulnerable to tears at the seams. But it's holding up really well. Thank you for your response and your amazing, fun and informative videos! 💖

    How do your sleeves not slide off the shoulders? I made one following your video, my sleeves in front a bit lose 🤔 the fabric is 4w strechy velvet

      I know this reply is late 🤣 but it means your shrug is too wide in back. Do a center seam straight down down the middle of the back and take up the extra to tighten the width. It's likely to fit better that way and keep the arms from falling. 🥰

      @@zenbrooklyn thanks for the reply, even late one 😅 i don't remember what I did now, but it was fine 😊

    Can you make one covering underarms? is it the same way?

    • @sparklybelly
      @sparklybelly  8 років тому

      +SOOMPiBABY I think you'd have to add front panels to cover underarms. Like this video - ua-cam.com/video/f_1xisWWkmM/v-deo.html
