As an American, the fact that, in my opinion, Gov. Newsome jumping to a public defense of Meghan and Harry makes me think the first press release concerning Archwell is probably the truth. Dear River, I live in Californa and file the exact same form that Archewell was deliquent in filing. First, the form is not hard to fill out and can be filed and registration fees paid online. Why they chose the "mail it in" option in this digital age is beyond me. This year, it took me approximately 1 hour to complete the form and had verification that the form had been received and approved by the CA Attorney General's office within 72 hours of completion. To not file it by the deadline is pure negligence. Additionally, Newsom should not be involved in this AT ALL. The Attorney General is an elected position. We, the voters, are the AG's boss, not Newsom. For him to speak out as he did, shows that someone holding a lot of money for his political aspirations, made a phone call to him. That someone is connected to Sussexes in some way.

Seeing the strong determined face and hands of the King emerge through the red mist of all the state and personal struggles was very dramatic to me. State St., the main shopping district in Santa Barbara, CA (Montecito is technically Santa Barbara) smells of urine, homeless everywhere. Stores are shuttered. In the alcoves of the shuttered shops, I have seen people slumped over using drugs.

When I first saw it I was disappointed. But the more I look at it the more I like it. Formal portraits are great for history, but this makes you really look at details and hidden items depicting the Kings life. The face is stunning.

I was born same year as Charles, I miss her too. Dreadfully, does not seem complete somehow without that lovely wise lady.
The portrait mastered his face beautifully but it’s rather eclipsed by the strong colour palette but as you say I’m a traditionalist.
I might have been able to warm to it if the background was full of different patterns and colours that had meanings, and if it set off the face the way Klimt was able to do in his painting ‘The Kiss’ and others. That could have been quite magical and appropriate imo.
I love the portrait. The symbolic butterfly is so special and humanizing. The style is edgy but so sublime and perfectly captures his features.

It's extraordinary for a governor to make a statement like this about a questionable charity. It smells to high heaven and makes me very suspicious of the motives and underhanded behind-the-scenes shenanigans, especially since one-half of the Archewell duo is a foreign prince. Markle, on her own, does not garner this type of preferential treatment. So it makes Harry's presence even more unwelcome. She is still a nobody, albeit married to a U.K. prince. People are not going to look favorably on this situation and the Harkles are making themselves even more distasteful and odious to Americans than they already are. I'm waiting for the real jackals in the U.S. to go after them.

I am a vegetarian and would never wear fur, but I do own an antique painting in an ivory frame. In many states in the USA, it is illegal to sell, trade, or even give it away! --- You can't even legally give it away ---- In this case, it is a beautiful portrait of my favorite composer, Richard Wagner, and I will keep it always. I'd be appalled if elephants were being destroyed or their ivory to make picture frames or anything else today, but destroying an antique work of art helps nothing.

As it should be. Those furs that are in the royal collection. Many of them are older, did not come from unethical for farms and are not the same as commercial for farm coats. I own many items of antique mink both in hats, first souls cuffs for my medieval dresses, that I have purchased over the years, I still wear them they’re very well taken care of did not come from any unethical farming of these animals. There is a huge difference between an ethically truly farmed animals nowadays to antique furs that were worn in history that are purchased and kept in very well condition and still used to bring that royal or that period of time back to life in a meaningful way. The first I own Are not the same as growing an animal on a farm and then brutally killing him it’s a little different and I don’t know how to explain that to anyone who won’t look at the fact at one point we needed to wear first. I live in Montana I guarantee you trapping is a huge thing here. I guarantee you that in the winter people who live in the mountains and things still wear first that they trap because when he gets -30 here you need more than just cotton. And again these are trapped in the wild. These are not farmed furs there’s a difference.
I have thst same philosophy with further. If the animal was sacrificed, the trophy should get every inch of appreciation one can give it because of the sacrifice, before it is discarded.

If the background was not the same color as his garment, it would be a perfect, traditional portrait, but King Charles is a modern monarch and he is also an accomplished artist himself, so has a more well developed and deep appreciation for art.
