The Titel of the story is wrong, the „Graf Goetzen“ was planned and built as a trade -ship. But in ww1 it was weaponed with cannons. Greetings from Germany

walzi2001 yeah I thought so because that was done a lot with cargo ships throughout both WWs, plus you can see that it's no warship 😂. Greetings from AZ, USA 🇺🇸

@@lovethesmellofracefuelinth7374 She was packing 2x 37 mm Hotchkiss revolver guns, 1x 88mm canon and 1x 105mm canon. Sure, you wouldn't dent a dreadnaught but I still wouldn't want to stand in front of the gal when she was pissed.

So its indestructible, but not unsinkable and is awesome that they were able to resurrect it from the lake bed. Kind of surprised that they were able to do it, especially for being down 8 years and is quite an accomplishment 👍🏽

It was not sinkable, at least not by what was on the lake. It survived because the crew greased the hull down.

That was a wonderful story of a ship of it's past and now used as a cargo ship to carry goods. Good camera work too.

It can be argued that she is not the oldest ferry. As she was not built as one. In New Zealand on lake Wanaka is SS Ernslaw. Launched as a purpose built ferry in 1915. She has continued as such, uninterrupted ever since without having to spend any time on the bottom of the lake.

It was purpose built as a ferry, this documentary was too short to explain it properly

a floating beast that was equipped with 4 guns? umm no. that ship is rather puny with only 3 guns, one 105mm gun, one 88mm gun, and two 37mm guns...
