The string of quality summer blockbusters continues with The Amazing Spider-Man. Mike, Jay, along with their new friend Rich, discuss while wanting to kill themselves.
"Imagine if they rebooted this next year."
Wow, I can only imagine such a thing
At least now they seem to know what they're doing
Really???I'm sure its going to be diversity over substance.
Right? How strange would that be...
MrWolfy43 third times the charm it seems
Rabbi mendel kastel "There are some BROWN people in it so it must be diversity over substance!"
Rich Evans: The greatest character introduction in all of TV and film.
Can you imagine what a sad world this would be if there would be no laughter of... Rich Evans any more?
that was so cool
This is the Rich Evans origin story.
*Up there with Curly in City Slickers*
I am dissapointed he wasn't in No Way Home
"Imagine if they rebooted it next year"
Damn only off by 3ish years
+TheTron08 well, the 2010 reboot of nightmare on elm street is being rebooted again I read....
well the sequel to this came out which gave them an extra buffer
hahaha yep
If Kirsten Dunst doesn't call you after your Shakespearean attempts at romancing her in this, I'm not sure what more you can do?
Give her a nice hankerchief, soaked in chlorofoam.
Wait til she's in an alley and rappel down at her upside down in a spandex onesie

Yo just tap dance with that other woman she's jealous of, in front of Kirsten Dunst while she's working at her job. Works every time.

I swear to god I just thought of that and I quickly went to the comments to type it before seeing it was already the top comment 😂😂
Ahh it’s so cute to see them fed up with the “villains using gas” plot, completely oblivious to blue sky beams. So sweet, so naïve.
Well, I feel like gas is alot worse than the blue sky beam. Blue sky beam is just a visual that’s used in completely different ways in different movies, whereas gas is pretty much the exact same plan repeated every time. “Release the powerful weapon to destroy the city!”
@@elijahfordsidioticvarietys8770yea, one is a repetitive visual, the other is a trope.
Only one of those is because of a lazy writer (which I assume was RLM's issue with it too).
@@supremebuffalo6322 I guess the blue sky beam is more likely because of a lazy director, although I suppose scripts may mention it.
Electric Light Orchestra's best song tbf
2012 really was the dawn of the blue sky beam though

I wish I could go back in time 10 years and show these guys the top worldwide box office earnings as they are today. A Spider-Man movie now at #6 and people universally praising Andrew Garfield's return as the character. Wild times.
My favorite part was when he acknowledged how terrible his movies were and they all collectively bowed to Toby.
The revisionist history these zoomers were forcing about Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man was really annoying
The movies are still terrible.
@@real1mem3sI'm really happy it upset you so much
"universally". Must be a universe full of people with crap taste.
How many times has Rich Evans been brutally murdered on this show
+Matthew Davis Not enough
+Matthew Davis He didn't really die in this one though, watch their TASM review.
As many times as Uncle Ben has
You mean like that mumbling dude from Southpark? Kenny?
Watching Rich getting shot and subsequently yelling aw fuck will never get old I hope to react the same when I’m shot
I watch RLM videos of forgotten times to realize one thing: those hack frauds were right the whole time.
Hollywood never subverted *their* expectations.
"come with me if you want-"
Say no more, Rich Evans
These three are all so good at both under-acting and over-acting to comedic effect.
I hope Kirsten Dunst has seen this video
Why?

@@CRP7000 Would it though?
This movie is a functional product and that's it. Nothing truly *bad* about it but nothing truly good about it. EVERYTHING in this movie has been done before. It was the personification of average.
Exactly. Sam Raimi's movies (I'll even argue the third) had a distinct sense of style and passion. The Amazing movies are just... there.
seeing as it's Sony, you can tell the amazing spider-man was crafted by test audiences and or edited to be by the books mediocre.
What pissed me off was having a whole "you're parents were secretly special scientists and you were always destined to have your powers" plot line, which kills the entire idea of fate and someone rising to the challenge by their own vocation and not becasue they were destined to do so.
IT BROKE NO GROUND!
The personification of average is the MCU this movie does lots Bad and very little good
I'm glad they gave him his sense of humor the first. 3 where devoid of it
"I can't wait till we get to that point" Well Jay welcome to the 20s
This video is scarily accurate about reboots.
That's because it had already been happening a lot in 2012. what is impressive is not that RLM recognized an ongoing problem in 2012, but rather that general audiences STILL don't see the problem in 2024
Wow this even predicts James Spader playing a Marvel villain...
+Graeme Evans He predicted The Force Awakens exact Rotten Tomatoes score.
+unknown unknown But Rich predicted the EXACT plot of TFA.
He also mentioned something about Ben Affleck playing Peter Parker.. now he's Bruce Wayne.
Neal X RLM straight up prophets yo
Graeme Evans the overextended barrels in the river thing in the second Hobbit movie
4:18 I know I'm reading too much into this, but when he says "better luck next time." A poster of Gwen Stacy's death is right there in the background.
They should get the guy who made The Italian Spiderman to make the new Spiderman films.
AaronTheZombie Or just come up with a crazy nonsensical mashup. Like suddenly Michelangelo from the Turtles gets bitten by a mutated spider and, well, awesomeness ensues.
4 years later and DC does exactly this
It'd be cool to see a HITB episode just on the original Spiderman trilogy.
***** ugh that would be AMAZING!!!
***** Yeah, I'm pretty sure that they prefer the original trilogy, but i would like to see what they thought particularly of Spiderman 3 (IMO it was a 6/10)
Jay said he liked Spider-Man 3 more than any of the TASM films
jim jimjim Considering the length of his reviews, I'm sure he could just do all 3 films in one go. Better yet, wait until the 2nd SPiderman reboot comes out and have a Plinkett special comparing all six films! (Yeah, maybe that'd a bit too much spiderman...)
A 9 hour commentary track would be cool.
As the newest Spider-Man sits at 1.4 billion at the box office.
Jesus it's so weird watching these old ones
I love how they always have to shoot rich multiple times in the most painful way possible.
I like that after the unfair (and wrong) criticisms of the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films, with this completely unnecessary remake everyone realised how good they actually were.
The first Spider-Man film absolutely nailed it in every way you can translate a comic book to film. The origin and personality of Parker and how he has to come up against the Goblin were done brilliantly. Spider-Man 2 took things up a notch and is not only the best Spider-Man film, but probably the best superhero film ever made.
The remake version of Parker is clothes-model good looking...exactly what Parker isn't supposed to be. You're not going to get the exact personality from the comic translated perfectly to film, but the original Spider-Man got this so right.
Yep it didn't help that this movie Felt Like remake exactly like the first Spider-Man movie from the early 2000s but some details slightly changed
And ZAAT continues to make it's mark on history and influence movie makers well into future generations.
Orson Welles made a soft reboot called Citizen Kane as a tribute.
Can we have Rick Burman as the next Spiderman? He'd shoot a web, look at it and say, "it's so dense, every string has so many things going on."
Wait a minute... That's not Rick Berman.
What is it with Ricks?
They were right about everything. Everything.
They weren’t right about Emma Stone.
No they were spot on about that too. She looks more like Lindsay Lohan as time has passed
@@frankmerker630 Lindsay Lohan has progressively looked less and less like Lindsay Lohan for like 15 years now. The comparison is even less apt today than it was when this video was made.
I've never heard such romantic statements about an actress. Now I have some new pick up lines to try
"I think Stan Lee just has a thing for Jeckyll and Hyde". Nice, Rich Evans. Very very nice.
Coming back to re-watch this and wow...Jay looks like a 12 year old here. Now he looks 40. Time flies...
0:34 best Rich Evans reveal of all time
They're re-uploading because their old videos ran on Blip, and Blip is slow and shitty.
I'm sure they will take ample time to make it an ineffable masterpiece of cinema.
Street Guru I heard 12 years.
+Joe Jr. Blip dies yesterday you said tomorrow.
26:58 - Rich Evans passively listening to his friends talk about films he's not interested in is exactly how I feel when my friends talk about films I'm not interested in.
Andrew Garfield is arguably the best actor of the cinematic spidermans. It’s a shame he got handed the worst script
I personally think Doc Ock is his arch-nemesis. He's very much involved in his life and they have more of a competitive relationship than most of the other villains.
That title goes to Green Goblin, without a doubt.
@@turnthepage8980 Nah, Sandman ftw
@turnthepage8980 very wrong. In the comics, Doc Ock is the one who finally kills Spider-Man and even takes over Peter's body.
I'm going through all of your videos with adblocker disabled and watching the full ads because this company deserves money.
Content creators don't get money when people view ads on their content. Only when people click on the ads
+ConorKelleher actually they do get some money
fartmagizewarth Why don't they? They put the work into creating the content. Watching an ad doesn't cost you anything, and it helps support them in creating more content.
fartmagizewarth yeah they do
ConorKelleher I think they get extra money from conversions, which is when the ad is clicked and then a product is actually checked out and paid for.
30:30 All the faux wholesomeness while blasting holes into Rich is hilarious lol.
I love the way Rich screams "Oh fuck!" It is perfect.
I rewatched this film for first time since theaters. I was stuck by how good the cast is and how high the production values were and how terrible this script was. What a shame.
11:15 I think part of the answer to this is that Peter Parker is a scientist so in classic comic book fashion, where villains are bad reflections of the hero, they are too. Its a really easy way to let the hero do more than just punch things, and a lot of comic heroes will have villains like that. Its like how Batman is a detective and so all of his villains are, naturally, unpredictable criminals. Unfortunately, scientist villains always, inherently, fall somewhere on the 2 point spectrum of "mad scientist" and "unfortunate monster-man". Even more unfortunate is that "the mad scientist" has become one of the most dated and cheesiest chichés in modern story telling.
I love the sewer fight scene with the camera taking photos of the Lizard. Because that camera has Peter Parker's name on it.
Because of that I can't believe that Peter Parker in the Amazing Spider-man franchise would be even able to tie his shoes, let alone contruct web shooters or make a costume.
Crazy watching this after the Homecoming video and seeing that Rich finally found his perfect Peter
12:26 you're right Rich, that's why No Way Home works, those supervillains just the obstacles, the drama is about him being spider-man
When Mike started making sex jokes about Kirsten Dunst, I started choking on my food.
Same xD
I didn't expect that.
@@theparadoxanalyser that and the 2 "r*tard" comments. They went hard back in 2012

20:10 - 20:47 that is really the best summary of the modern movie business that ive ever heard
To be fair, at least the film was still somewhat attractive. The new Fantastic Four looks so uninteresting that it hurts.
This film felt a little more sad than Fant4stic though.
The behind the scenes drama of Fant4stic reveals that the director was trying his best to take the movie in a new direction, and the studio made him do reshoots to make the film their way.
The Amazing Spiderman feels a little bit more like the whole crew was just doing exactly what the studio said.
Fant4stic is probably worse, but at least it felt like they were trying something.
+Chris Barbati Please stop. Don't call it Fant4stic. It's making me like actually upset.
Thatguy7242 Why? Calling it Fant4stic is not only a good way to mock the marketing of the film, but also distinguish it from the other three Fantastic Four films.
It may be crude, but it's effective.
Chris Barbati It just upsets me. I'm not quite sure why but I just feel bad when I see it.
The latest TMNT movie also had a gas plot

I think it's funny that I saw an advert for uncle ben's rice on this video XD.
I always get car ads and Star Wars toys (probably due to my repeat viewings of the plinkett reviews).

Speaking of Wes Anderson, why don´t you guys review the fantastic Fantastic Mr Fox, that ´smore fantasticker than Fan4Stic.
so you guys predicted another reboot of spider man! spot on!
Also I only recently found you guys, and it is amazing how prescient you have been, almost like certain film makers have been watching you and stealing some of your ideas, the good ones and the bad ones lol.
True RLM scholars know this is Rich's character right after he escaped from the Game Station.
Still a better character introduction than palpatine in TROS
I don't know how you guys stayed on topic while someone had loud oral surgery in the same building.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) and Detective Pikachu re-used the "gassing the entire city" cliche.
Wait, if the laser was fake as we found out in the ASM2 episode, how did Rich 'comic-book-collector-later-artist' Evans scare those two thugs??
Poor Wes Anderson his movies are so great and are just so nice to watch
they were joking
When they said "Tobey Maguire is here" Mike should have pulled a potato out of his pocket.
Don't forget about the cinematic masterpiece, Police Academy 7: Mission to Moscow.
I'm watching this because I watched the film for the first time in preparation for No way home and they're talking about Batman and it's like there's been 3 different Batman since and a couple of Spidermans.
That’s ridiculous. This was during the dark knight. And Batman is a character who can totally work within reinterpretation and director visions. All of Batman’s villains could be their own contained well made drama. At the time, spider man had not proven that.
holy fuck Mike, those were the most intense words i've ever heard said by another human being x'D
anyone else hear a horrible ringing throughout the latter half of this video?
+ry wyche then u deaf
yeah, I can hear it. I have super hearing though, most people above a certain age probably can't
I'm 20 and it's genuinely ear-piercing to the point where I have to turn down the video not to feel nauseous
I think it's something interfering with Mike's lapel mic. You can notice the high-pitch stops when its signal is edited out.
Also, Rich's lapel is either too hot and/or positioned poorly and he's overdriving it when he speaks.
Actually, it is interference. Start @ 20:20 and you can hear the pitch shift as Mike's body moves. Probably something that was hard to notice even while monitoring the signal.
"Better luck next time"
Well, Rich you were wrong. Horribly horribly horribly wrong.
"Previously on Lost"
It's not every day they get me that early.
It’s funny to hear the high pitched hiss in the older videos. Still treasures
The gas plot is in the new Batman game, Arkham Knight too. Good to have these tropes pointed out so they can be avoided in the future.

16:41 Don't forget No.5 - Superman the Movie, Lex Luthor threatened "In approximately five minutes, a poison gas pellet containing propane lithium compound will be released through thousands of air ducts in the city, effectively annihilating half the population of metropolis".
Yeah he did but he threatened the poison gas to get Superman to his lair. He then said it was an idea he was "Toying with" .
Only one thing alive with less than four legs can hear this frequency......
Yeah, the start of a cool sequence.
Seth Brundle Now you may or may not know, I am, as they say, very heavy into real estate.

Secondly: into the spiderverse was surprisingly not super disappointing. Cool to see a blend of art styles like that... In the least.
Those cargo shorts are a crime against humanity. My word.
Rich in the comic book store had proper lighting and Jay and Mike were in the dark. That had to be on purpose.

It's from their old equipment
"Half in the Baaaaaag: Me Underwears"
Confirmed for THE ROOM!
is that the ULTIMATE irony, Jay?
Mike has a great idea for the making of the costume. it should be linked to how his powers are. Only good part was the Spider-Man in "flight" in that the Raimi movies it was pure CGI, here it was a stunt guy and it looked better.
