    You guys forgot to mention the fucking ridiculous plane scene in the Amazing Spiderman 2 where two planes almost smash each other for no reason when the grid goes off. Spiderman has no idea it's even happening, it has absolutely no consequence anywhere to anyone in the movie, it's never talked about later, and when the grid does finally go back on the planes cartoonishly turn and avoid each other when they're 1 foot away.

    Electro was an electrical engineer. In order to be an electrical engineer, you need to be certified in electrical safety. Jamie Foxx tries to connect two live electrical wires without any safety suit. Makes sense.

    • @cb1671
      @cb1671 9 років тому +128

      Not just that, but to be an electrical ENGINEER requires a degree.
      Is this movie trying to tell me that a man who spent at least two years (I believe it is actually four, but I'm not sure) obtaining a degree in electrical engineering never learned that live wires shouldn't be crossed?

    • @cb1671
      @cb1671 9 років тому +63

      fourcrippledhorses The bar is low, but even your average homeowner generally knows NOT to cross live wires.
      Not everyone of course, but most people I know understand why you should flip a breaker before doing electrical work.

    The plot to the Amazing Spiderman 2 is that he wants to date Gwen, but he can't date Gwen because he made a promise to Ghost Dad that he wouldn't. But then he does date Gwen anyway, and she dies, so he's guilty. And he learns that with great power comes great responsibility or something. But then he's not guilty anymore because she made a speech before she died saying that he shouldn't be guilty when she dies. And that frees him up to be Spiderman again, so he can fight a guy in a mechanical rhino suit. But the guy in the mechanical rhino suit kills him, which is why the movie ends there. It's like the Sopranos. You don't get to see that scene because it's the end of Spiderman. And the lesson is that he should have kept his word to Ghost Dad. It's a morality tale.

    Electro's entire motivation: he ends up in times square, people with cameras start filming his ass and he likes this attention. Then Spiderman appears and the cameras point at Spiderman and not him for a bit. That pisses Electro off. And that's it. That's all the motivation the man needs. Transcendence - "Everything was boring" (RedLetterMedia)

    • @TheDrLeviathan
      @TheDrLeviathan 9 років тому +6

      ***** I haven't seen it, but one of the reasons I didn't bother is because it seemed like a boring concept that has been done before, and much better.
      They mentioned mass effect, but that ending was very similar to the ending if the original deus ex. And the less said about Ghost in the Shell, the better (that was a movie, manga, and anime that handled the concept pretty good imo; hell, excellent, really, to the point where it influenced deus ex very much, and legions of sci-fi fans [Matrix, anyone?]). Even Avatar (ugh) with its internet/Facebook tree thing kinda did this idea as well, though not to the same extent. There's probably a million more examples that I either don't remember or even know about.
      In short, Sci-fi has already covered all that. It would need to be absolutely amazing to get me to go see it, with next to no flaws. I might check out this film eventually (everything deserves a chance), but from where I see it right now, it looks like a movie that's entirely trying to coast by on it's concept, with no character development, tension, or cleverness. I hope I'm wrong, but from everything they said here in this review, I'm starting to lose the little faith I had to begin with.
      Obviously, take this with plenty of salt, but hopefully understand why some people couldn't care less about this movie.

      Transcendence is an exercise in how to sink a great movie with a completely shit script. The pacing, plot progression, dialogue and actions of the characters are horrifically botched.

    great video but I am incredibly disappointed that they didn't touch on the rhino. The scene with the rhino was the worst thing in the whole movie. After the whole movie ends, this cartoonish transformers rhino mech comes in for exactly 3 minutes and is just like "I'M GONNA KILL THIS LITTLE KID BECAUSE I'M EVIL" and the little kid, defying what any little kid would actually do, stands up to this giant fucking robot instead of running. Spidey comes in, and quips a joke and slings a web. end credits.

    The alternate history this episode presents, where Jay and Mike never actually killed Rich the comic book man, implies that things may possibly not be what they seem in regards to the narrative of Half In The Bag, since it's been established now that Jay and Mike sometimes view events differently than how they actually occured. This leads to my theory: that Half in the Bag is all just a sweaty fever dream these two hacks are having out back in a Milwaukee dumpster. It's just like Joker!

    What I found odd in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is how nosy aunt May was. She constantly snooped around in Peter's room. There is one scene where she tries to go into his room and it's locked, he tells her "just a second" as he scrambles to hide his Spiderman suite. Now, when a teenager doesn't open a door immediately, you know they are most likely watching porn and jacking off and you leave them alone. Aunt May on the other hand, when she hears him telling not to go in, she literally tries to break into his room, and when she does break in, he is tucked in under the blanket, and she's like "what's happening here?".

      Which, comic books apart, makes sense since she's a more mature and confident woman because she's already lived everything she had to live and lost her husband in a tragic way. Mary Jane (which would be Gwen Stacy) is young and immature. I'm not big fan of her character from the originals, but it was okay to keep the story on track.
      Simple, but effective films. Not masterpieces by any means.

    I'm surprised they didn't mention that Spiderman *EASILY* can solve everything just about by talking it out. Like, the green goblin for instance, Harry is mad because Spiderman won't give him his blood right? Then Peter finds that fucking train (because who gives a shit, it's a train, deal with it), and the little video that his dad left for him LITERALLY says: *"The spider shit will only work with my fucking blood (and by extension Peter's blood) and nobody else's."* So that means all Peter has to do is be like "Oh Harry, watch this video, see? Even if I give you my blood it won't do anything because it's only compatible with my DNA and my kids DNA, sorry mate.
    Like, he had all this information, he easily could just explain the situation to Harry and save gwen and Harry won't become evil etc etc etc, but instead he makes a conscious decision to be like "Eh, fuck it, that takes too long to explain."
    ...................................................................................................
    SO HARRY'S ENTIRE MOTIVATION FOR BECOMING EVIL COULD BE SOLVED WITH TWO LINES OF DIALOGUE, THAT PETER CHOOSES NOT TO SAY.
    That's all.
