Thank you so much for this! I'm a man too and short and simple! Can you believe these other videos are stretching this out to 15 minutes of my time!?!! I just appreciate you Brother God Bless you and your family. Im seasoning my new skillet riGHT NOW!!!
You’re welcome my friend! Glad it was helpful!
If you had seasoned that from new pan to seasoned pan in 45 seconds, you'd make a fortune.
Lol, I did. Didn't you see it, Eric!!?? Now I’m waiting on the coins!! Lol 😂
Short, succinct, concise. Thank you! 🤗
You’re welcome anytime, my friend, and thank you so much!!
@@MrCastIron I went and tried it right after I watched your video; now at am the proud owner of a properly seasoned skillet 😁
That’s wonderful!! Thanks for sharing this with us!!
Don't forget to take the battery out of the smoke alarm.. Trust me. Great video, Mike. Stay safe and stay warm
Thanks Sean! Spoken from actual experience, right!?
@@MrCastIron You bet. Luckily, SHE was not there to hear it.
@@shovelhead8
“SHE” wasn’t there!
🤣
Lol
@@shovelhead8why is it luckily 🤣
I just watched the new video on cast iron seasoning. Great video. But the whole time, I was thinking, if it's so easy, I bet you couldn't season that skillet, in less than a minute. 🤔 Who knew?? Lol.😁. Nicely Done. Thanks for sharing. 😎🇺🇸.
Thanks GOG! Can you believe it only takes 45 seconds!?
Turn the pan upside down in the oven with a tray under it to keep any residual grease from pooling.
That’s a good practice for sure. Unless you have it completely wiped out! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feedback with us, my friend!!
I wonder, if you don't do this, will the grease in the bottom of the pan smoke really bad but it will not if you do this? 🤔 I hope someone replies if they know. 😊 Thanks ahead of time. ( I have a new pan I need to season sitting and waiting on me! 😅)
you are using too much oil if it pools
45 seconds?? A new world record 🤣Seriously though, that was both satisfying and informative. Sometimes you gotta get a handful of Crisco in order to get the job done...
Lol yeah, I wish I could season one that fast, don’t you!?
Best video ever. Short and to the point@
Nicely done Mike!!!!
Thanks Patrick!
Darn Right! That's how it's done!
Thanks Paulie!
I love the music
Thanks!
If you leave the video playing on repeat long enough, you realize that it needs a techno remix.
You don't need to bake it heat on shove top works just as good heat to 375 turn burner off done
I just seasoned if you have them the other day that I found an old barn took two days soaking it in vinegar and baking soda good thorough cleaning the endresults were great
Yes sir! Vinegar and baking soda work great together don't they!?
Best product for seasoning a cast iron product is lard. Nr 2 is tallow.
Get after it Brother 👍🏻👊🏻😊!
Thanks Mike!
Thank you
Music goes hard. Step number six is to wait for the skillet’s health bar to appear.
Lol! I hear ya!! Thank you for checking it out!
Notice you did not place pan upside down, like most recommend. Why?
Good eye my friend!! I didn’t because I had wiped all the excess oil out and I knew it wouldn’t run or drip.
Thank you, sir! ✌️✌️✌️
You’re welcome anytime, my friend!
Thank you. 😊
You’re welcome and thank you too my friend!
Thank you !
You're welcome!
Thx for the info. How often do you need to do this????
I do it when I first get a new skillet, but since they come preseasoned from the factory, you don’t necessarily have to unless you want to!
@@MrCastIron Thank you!!👍
@@SusanH-CatLady you're welcome!
Thanks for the video
You’re welcome, Josh. Thanks for watching it, my friend!
Do we season and heat these pans in oven after every use ?
Great question, and thanks for asking. You don’t have to bake them in the oven, but maybe 1-4 times initially when they are new. You don’t have to do that unless you want to. All that is needed to season cast iron is cooking in it. After you cook, clean and dry it, then rub a small amount of your favorite oil all over the pan and wipe it out. That’s it! I hope this helps, and if you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to me, and I’ll do my best to help you out ok!!??
I was wondering the EXACT same thing!! I am so glad this was addressed and answered. Thank you both so much. I LOVE your channel. ~ ~ ❤ ❤❤ ~ ~
I grew up with all the older folks in my family cooking on cast iron.. (SO GOOD) but not my Mom !? Weird, huh? But I was not the fortunate one to inherite any of their wonderful, perfectly seasoned /never stick cast iron. So now I need to try to get mine in that shape!
I hope with your help, my older ones get better, my new one gets seasoned correctly and they all get maintained correctly from now on!!
Look at you go with a Cast Iron store!!!!
Yeah, showing out, ain’t I lol!?
@@MrCastIron yes and we’re all about it! Go Mike go!!!!
Thank you guys for always supporting and encouraging us! I pray the best for y’all as well!
Great tips Mike.
I appreciate that brother!
If only crisco worked that well with the rest of life’s issues…🤣🤣🤣…
Yeah really! I’d rub it all over everything, lol! 🤣🤣
@@MrCastIron HAHAHA Righr??
Do I have to let the pan cool down in between seasonings, or can I just add some more crisco and keep it going?
Obviously I'll need to use gloves, just want to season it correctly.
Wait for it to cool completely
Great question, my friend, and yes! Let cool down completely before adding another round of seasoning!
@huniebeee, thank you!!
@@MrCastIron cool, thanks.
@@MrCastIron thank you very much for posting!
EXCELLENT !!!!
Thank you Thomas. I sure appreciate that my friend!
That’s it!
Thanks Big Lew!
I appreciate your video. I learned the best from you! Thanks!
You’re welcome, and thank you too, my friend! I’m happy to hear some of our videos have helped you!
I don’t recommend that’s basically motor oil buddy. You need to be using a animal fat I use bacon or beef tallow works wonders without the poison
Ghee is another great option. Agree 100%
Not related to this video, but can i use cast iron skillet on a glass/ceramic stove?
Yes, you can cook on a glass-top stove!
@@huniebeee yes, just don't pull it across the surface to avoid scratching the glass. Pick it up to move it and you'll be fine. As long as you don't drop it! 😅
Love it brother
Glad you like it my friend!
I just get it red hot on the eye of the stove and pour oil in it till it smokes up the house and let it cool then qipe it with paper towels.
I heard my pan came already seasoned. Should I still re season it?
That is totally up to you, Scott. Some folks do, others don’t. Either way is fine. Cooking in it will help the most to add layers of seasoning. I hope this helps you, my friend!

LARD, GHEE, OR TALLO. ZERO SEED OILS FOLX
Man, do I really need to fricken BAKE my skillet before I use it, sounds like Imma spend more time seasoning than cooking with it.
Yes.
If it is preseasoned, just start cooking with it. After cooking, though, wash, dry, and heat on the stovetop and rub a little oil onto the skillet as maintenance.
@@MrCastIron But if it's not preseasoned, can I season it on a stove top?
Yes you sure can! Check this out How To Season A Cast Iron Skillet On The Stove

Yes, if you want non stick.

Yeah, I was afraid of that Mark, lol!
Aren't step 4 and step 5 the same thing?
45 second seasoning process for new skillet he means.
You should also put the pans in upside down
Let’s go!
Let's get it Ian!
What if I only had a hot plate?
Great question. Cast iron works on hot plates too.
What happens if i dont season it and started cooking on it?

Thanks mr c.i i learned alot more about cast iron because of you
You’re welcome anytime my friend!!
Video title should be how to season your skillet in 1 hour and 45 seconds
Nope,,,,,use an 80 grit roloc on a drill and polish it down ,,,,, then get some bacon grease a and burn it on a outdoor fire.
Crisco🥵
Anyone knows if I can use coconut oil
instead of Crisco ?
I’m trying to stay away from processed garbage… and feels like Crisco would be in that category of things 😅
I just don’t know if coconut oil
really does the same job as Crisco grease
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Chris!
I just cook in it.
Yeah, that’s the best way!! Thanks for sharing this with us, my friend!
Please never eat crisco
1 hour 😮 was that a joke
No…just no🤦🏻♂️
?
Lost me a soapy water....
Not crisco! Dang!
My parents always used shortening or bacon grease in their cast iron.
Those are two of my favorite choices! I cook so much bacon anyway, lol! Crisco is my favorite choice for seasoning in the oven. It doesn’t stink up the house as bad as some oils do! Thanks so much for sharing this with us, my friend!
Wow,. 45 seconds. Simple. Unlike these content hungry goons stretching it out to 20min.. thank you!
Watch me rub Crisco on an already seasoned pan.
How did that turn out for you!?
Take that Crisco and throw it in the trash.
For 1 hour?!
Yeah, at least!
😁👍🍻🍳
✌️👍👊😎
Did you just season that pan with pure trans fats lmao
I thought you wasn’t supposed to use soap on iron skillet
Hey Marshall, it’s ok to use a little mild detergent occasionally. I don’t use it all the time, but now and then won’t hurt your cast iron. Just don’t let it soak for hours, though.
You didn’t do this right
What is it that I didn’t do right?
Lol
Lol! 😂
You didnt turn the skillet upside down
@MrCastIron you didnt place it upside down
You lost me at Crisco. Shit is poison
Oh yeah? What do you use?
Literally anything but that mess
Sorry but you should never oil cold cast iron.
Look up the Field method for seasoning cast iron.
Well, maybe not, but I’ve been doing it for years, and all of my cast iron looks pretty good! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinions with us, though!
People have being seasoning them with oil for hundreds if not thousands of years world wide. Yet your the guy who's got it figured out?
gotta love these cast iron snobs who don't know what they're talking about. "Never oil cold cast iron"??? LOOOOL. It's not some delicate piece of glass. It's not a snowflake, even though you might be. It's iron. Oil it cold. Oil it warm. Oil it after sticking it in the freezer. Oil it after it's in a fire. It's IRON. Do whatever you want.
Lol
WARNING: Too much oil will RUIN your seasoning. He Really should've mentioned just how dry it needs to be, i have no clue what kinda twit makes a video like this without stating that. Removing the excess means remove as much as possible, you CANNOT get it all and thinner layers mean better seasoning. Most people use too much oil and that's why they fail with cast iron.
No soap it will take off the new seal ots not good for the cast iron
Really? I haven’t had it happen yet but maybe I’m using the wrong dish soap. What soap did you use that stripped your seasoning?
Back in the day, common soap used to contain lye in it, which will damage cast iron pots and pans. Today, your common dish soaps that are used for cleaning dishes IN THE SINK no longer contain lye.
Lye is a harsh antioxidant. Like sodium hydroxide or caustic, it has an acidity level and still used in your drain cleaners today.
Not everyone who use to work on a drilling rig is a "deplorable".
Know your s#!t.
Lol! I love it!
Use soap all you want. Soap doesn't take off seasoning. It's an old wives tale.
@@BornIn1500older soaps had lye so I guess that was eating off the seasoning
Never us soap on cast iron.....thats 101 kindergarten shit
Lol!Thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinions with us my friend!!
It’s totally fine to use soap to disinfect a brand new cast iron like he’s doing in this video. Once you start cooking in it though, you shouldn’t use soap. If you know everything already why are you watching this video?
😎✌️
It's totally fine to use soap on cast iron
Yes!
Wrong
Yours is preseasoned already
Yes, most new cast iron comes pre-seasoned from the factory.
