I’ve been following u for awhile now and u say u fly for ur job, are u a corporate pilot or are u a commercial pilot, like for AA or southwest or someone like that? What gorgeous weather for flights, and it seems like you were the only ones getting those clear days around those areas back then, as everyone else I know was in IMC or dodging active storms.
When I was younger we had to leave are house at 5AM in Oregon to get across Wyoming before the build ups heading to Scottsbluff Ne. We flew a 320 Baron Duke Bonanza.

Now that you have two new engines I think a Bahamas trip with Kim is needed. Norman's Cay has a pretty crazy history that would make good content. There is a crashed drug plane you can snorkel.

Curious. Last time in Punta Gorda there was a guy with a 1940 Waco open cockpit biplane there giving paid rides...do you remember him? He was an ex bush pilot from Alaska...I took a ride from him...way cool!...LOTSA wind on that ride! Thanks for your videos....that was in 1995 I think.

@@BaronPilot wow!..no kidding!..I had an old video camera I took along..the battery was dead before we took off..he said charge it up and come back..I did...and was the last flight of his day and were up for quite awhile..great guy...I was watching gauges and the oil blowing back on the wind shield from that old radial engine..concerned..he later told me that if I didnt see the oil leaking out...there was a problem!..great to hear hes still around...I assume he still flies the Waco?

Which do you prefer, Jeppesen or FAA plates? The more I see of the Avidyne gear the more I like it. Now to the important part- The entire internet bogged down when you said "you serve a purpose" LOL Who needs ADSB when you have Kim onboard. The bird on short final looked close... Damn things will mess an airplane up. I hit a Cattle Egret just at rotation on my first solo back in the 80's. It flew it from the side and hit the prop. Sadly it was not able to be revived :)
Jeppesen charts are far superior but the cost more too. That’s what I use. She is amazing with plane spotting. I had a small bird fly through the prop on takeoff once. But noting crazy yet like an Egret! Glad you didn’t get hurt!
@@BaronPilot I came across two binders full of Jepp charts (approach and low altitude enroute), a flight guide, a binder full of WAC and sectionals, plus an E6B and an Exxon Texas roadmap (just in case), in a soft (not the cool leather one) Jepp bag from when I was working on the instrument rating. Last update entry was 1996. They were a bit dated :o) I think Foreflight replaced all of it. The Jepp bag full of plates looked "cooler" but took up room that I never seemed to have. I looked them up in Foreflight... they are expensive but they are still familiar, even comfortable, to me. Worth the investment, when it's time, I think.
I'm at a bit of a crossroads. I want to get my instrument rating. I was so close when I stopped flying... Rental is expensive (so is instruction but relatively speaking a good instructor is worth more than that aircraft while you're flying with him or her) so I'm looking for a good IFR trainer with a mix of steam and glass. Endeavor to persevere...
The CFI was on the ground with a handheld and saw that I had hit the bird. Sulphur Springs Muni, TX, back then, not sure about today, had some tall pines at the departure end, followed by a lake. The C152 I was in ate up a lot of runway (density altitude was a thing back then too) and as this was my first solo, ever, I didn't have the knowledge (or room it turns out) to abort. So I did what I was taught to do, climb out at best rate. The CFI's name was Richard Caldwell, his calm voice came on the radio and asked how I was doing, how the aircraft was doing, is there any weird vibration, etc. He asked me to land and taxi to where he was when I made my first landing. "Go ahead and use full flaps this time too". None of what he said was alarming and I was happily flying along. I landed, taxied over, he did a runup with me, washed the bird goo off of the window, and sent me back out for the next two (I did 5 total because... it was a blast!)

Wondering why you didn't report the airport in sight sooner and save yourself all the vectors?
Because I knew there was a lot of activity at the airport. ATC had informed me they were vectoring me for traffic. When it’s that busy I don’t mind the vectors. As you saw even with the vectors tower still had an issue with spacing.

Christopher, just had to ask this. Is a big bug splat in the middle of the windshield (above your eagle) standard equipment on a Baron? We have been looking past that one for months. Who do we have to bribe to get a clean windshield? Love your videos except for the "bug". Just jerking your chain!!!
With new plexiglass windows, I try to protect them scratches. So I minimize wiping them until it’s Absolutely necessary. But don’t worry we do wash the plane soon. 😉

Have you considered why you are reducing power when climbing?
I understand that the props are noisy at 2700RPM, but if noise abatement is not an issue, WOT and 2700 RPM will get you to cruising altitude faster and will probably be more fuel efficient as well. If you want to bring the props back to 2600 and leave the throttles full forward, it won't hurt a thing.
A lot of CFI's still teach 25 squared in the climb because that is what they were taught, but it has no basis in science and your engines are certified to run WOT and 2700RPM continuously. In fact, by reducing throttle (and removing the fuel enrichment circuit), you are effectively leaning the mixture and raising your CHTs.
Power reductions during climb apply primarily only to large radial engines that have METO power settings in their charts.

Per the POH Maximum performance climb is 2625/WOT. Cruise climb is 2500/25. I don’t disagree with you. I do prefer the quieter and smoother 2500.
I think the rule is he who will pay for the rebuilt engines gets to decide how they're run :)

Baron Pilot I don’t understand the obsession people have with YTers’ gfs/wives getting their licenses. If they really want to great; if not that is great too. Just having someone that understands “the system” is a tremendous asset to manage workload as a team. That being said, “pinch hitter” training for safety is a good idea. Just the fact that she enjoys flying with you and being on the YT videos is awesome by itself.
