I agree with someone who commented on the Disney Princess Medley. They refer to the big three acapella groups but those of us who are really into it see Voctave as a fourth major group. Pentatonix are the popular kids, Home free are the down to earth country kids, Voice Play are the theater kids, and Voctave are the kids whose lives revolved around their music. They're the ones who sing purely and unapologetically for the sake of the music.
YES. This! #Voctave is so fantastic and not enough people know of their sensational vocals! As much as I love the other 3, nothing compares to their vocal perfection!
If this boggles the mind (and it is impressive at 14 seconds), think about Barbara Streisand who holds her note for 23 seconds in Before the Parade Passes By (in the movie Hello Dolly)
Love her, no doubt she's awesome too. But this was longer than 23 seconds. He held the single note for the shorter amount of time, but was singing without having taken a breath even before that note even started. So for about 27 seconds total@@jamesrawlins735
Great reaction. Most people focus on how long EJ holds the last note, but you were very astute in recognizing that he didn't breathe after starting the phrase, "I'll have spent one day out ..."! You speculated that many of them probably were classically trained. You're probably right, but you might be surprised to learn that a significant number of them began their a cappella careers singing Barbershop, even one or two of the women. Keep up the good work!
Thoughts: Adam Rupp (beatboxer) from Home Free CAN sing, but feels more in his element with percussion and backing vocals. Pentatonix AND Voiceplay have legit lineups where every member is strong enough to sing solo lead on their own and everyone else sings supporting vocals when someone else is singing lead. Voctave... says, 'who needs percussion? We'll just sing harmonies with 11 people instead.' And every single singer is a lead-caliber performer. Watch all the women shine together and individually in Disney Princess Medly with the other women and men backing the lead, and then watch this one again, with the men and women doing the same, except the men all sing the lead parts, and THEN watch their video Somewhere (from West Side Story) where all 11 blend, but all 11 sing solo parts while 10 others sing backing, and effortlessly switch off from male to female, low to high, high to low, up and down the scale... It's just mind-boggling that they are this good... That any of these groups are that good. I agree with you totally; Voctave is much more classically trained than the other groups, but ALL are amazing, and they are bringing back the true singing skills that made artists great in the 40s through the 70s, and we are all better for being able to hear amazing music like this.
If you like long belts it's worth checking out Tim Waurick from Vocal Spectrum - When I see an elephant fly in particular stands out imho - this is a live edition: ua-cam.com/video/SAeMOHlaVl4/v-deo.html
I'm over-simplifying, as all of their ranges are huge... but Voctave usually has 3 bass/baritones, 3 tenors, 3 altos, and 2 sopranos. In my opinion, they are the best vocalists out there. Their arrangements and harmonies are unsurpassed. As to EJ's belt? His breath starts BEFORE the belt note. Can you keep a secret?? I heard a rumor that EJ doesn't really have to breathe. Ever. 🤣

Everyone: How long was that note?
EJ: As long as I want it to be...
That sounds about right! 😂

hahaha best comment I've seen in weeks lol!!! love it and love EJ!
26 seconds!
And the last soloist EJ Cardona, is the older brother to The Voice top 5 finalist Omar Jose Cardona this past year. 😬
Omar's also collabed a fair few times with Voiceplay, another acapella group that I HIGHLY recommend.
Oh! I didn't know him an EJ were related!? That's so cool!
@@ArmageddonisUnleashe as has EJ!

“Is he a bass?”
😂
You will freak out when you hear him sing with Voctave with Come All Ye Faithful because it’s longer.
yesssss i totally just commented that
Watch "Oh come all ye faithful" You won't regret it. 😁
Loved your reaction you should definitely do more Voctave reactions
I love Voctave! Also, EJ Cardona can get right the heck out of town! :P
Just loved it
The background singers provide what percussion is needed. Check out their Nutcracker Medley which was just released.
I am impressed by your Disney world knowledge😊
Thank you! But I'm far from very knowledgeable when it comes to more recent disney movies😅
Not as long as the one he held in "Oh Come All Ye Faithful"

Yeah, I think Tim’s longest is 32 seconds. He’s a barbershop beast!
3 bass, 3 tenors, 3 altos, 2 sopranos
*1 bass, 2 baritones, 3 tenors, 3 altos, 2 sopranos
You must do their Movie Medley!!! It's basically John Williams greatest hits!
7:44 It’s actually the one with the orangey blonde hair but it’s easy to confuse the two. Anyway her name is Kate and she’s amazing.
