Hi Matt. Have been a subscriber for around 3 years and seen the start of your world tour three times already. Seeing you getting close to the finish line of Japan is really a big milestone. When you think of it, this means that the third world tour attempt was successful! Like seeing a rocket ship finally leaving earth's atmosphere. You have developed a pattern, habit and a family/tour-balance that makes the trip viable for the long term. Congratulations on the major accomplishment and thank you for being a window to the strange and wonderful places you cycle through. Your trip is an inspiration to me, and I look forward to starting my own first month-long cycle trip through guangxi and yunnan this February!

That comment sucked Matt! The people he surrounds himself with probably aren't aware of what he's really like. Or maybe he bigged up himself to feel important. Anyway, you are correct about him living his life in probably ignorant bliss, while you are living magnificently in another part of the world giving us beautiful content everytime. You make us all realise that we need to come out of our comfort zone. Thank you!!!

Another amazing vlog Matt. The people of Japan are so awesome. Yes you are right there are some people who do live their lives in blissful ignorance. Stay safe my friend

Way to go, Matt, you handle that comment the right way do not let one guy ruin your day. There are a lot of people out there who do not think the way that person does. Good luck tomorrow and it is great that you made your cycle goal today. JaYoe.

I always like how you handle your encounters , personally and on the internet . You have shown countless times Matt you are a bigger and better man whos an inspiration . Unfortunately the multiple platforms that social media provides gives trolls and there offspring carte blanche to say what ever comes into there febble minds with the safety and protection of a computer screen . Most are cowards that would never have the balls to confront you face to face . Jayoe

Hi Matt. Note the distance the Japanese drivers give between each car too. I know that it's a common rule to keep a certain distance, but seeing it executed this well is even impressive where I come from (Denmark) :)

Cute girls, Japanese are so friendly. They said, "Ganbatte-kudasai". They are part of the JaYoe Nation & proved it with their commentary (the necessity of having 加油 translated). 頑張って下さい。

While it may be polite at a first glance, only using one lane ahead of a lane reduction is suboptimal. Both lanes should be occupied until the very end and then alternate merging gets the most people through the fastest. What breaks this is people who drive only some way on the reduced line and then want to squeeze in at some point before the choke. It seems nobody wanted to be seen as the "bad guy" even if it would be the better thing to do.
Concerning "What if everybody followed the rules" - Here in Germany alternate merging is the rule ;)

"Bike" generally means motorcycle in Japan. They may have thought you had a motorcycle. Jitensha is Bicycle. Just a thought. Not that you'll have to worry about what they call anything in Japan much longer, hahaha

Don’t let that person hurt you. Of course, you needed to comment for yourself and family, but he/she’s a minority. If we ignore the mean people, they are defeated. You are loved and loving. That’s good enough for me. JaYoe, Kiddo.

I will say however, we do the scissor technique in america which is probably better for temporary hold ups on the freeway than forming a single line. We need to work on leaving room for emergency vehicles though, that is not our strong suit. *edit* also you don't know that angry jerks story so it is best to let it slide if it is one or two

  • @MageThief

That is one of the biggest things with why I love Japan, the friendly and polite people. I have been there so many times now, lived there also and I go there once a year and it always makes me so happy and still get surprised of how friendly and helpful they are. Some people go out of their way to help you some times.
You have to try the kurobuta (black pork) tonkatsu when you come to Kagoshima, soooo delicious.
I always approach angry idiots with a big smile and positive attitude and replies, they will eventually loose energy and stop talking, that makes me even more happier, so a win win situation for me :D
APA Hotel is not the best hotel in my opinion, they have been on the news in Japan a bit recently for their right wing views and propaganda.

I was gonna write a big thing about "those" people. Don't sweat them. Arguing with then we only drag you down. We're all guilty of doing it, but think about how bad we feel for stooping that low. Just ignore them.

Matt, instead of doing shoutouts to those terrible people making comments, maybe you can give a shoutout to someone who makes a positive comment about you and yours instead? Negative people don’t deserve the screen time... great video today; always impressed how you make it all happen so cohesively

    • @JaYoeNation
      @JaYoeNation  6 років тому +3

Hahah. If I did a positive shoutout video... it would be 10 hours Long. :). But I get your point. That’s why it was so hurtful... because it was really rare to get something so nasty. Actually between me and my other youtuber friends I think I get the least amount of hate

    • @AnthonyDeBattista

I think that people need to realise that a man on a trike , riding through Japan, has been attacked by a racist bastard and the people watching are his friends. We are actually Matt's support team, not our entertainment central. I personally watch Matt because I am inspired by his journey but also because I want to make sure he is ok, and I want to hear about the good and the bad. . So Matt. I hear ya. Take care, vent when you need and remember most of the people who watch you are interested in the good and the bad.

You’re riding a recumbent bicycle in Japan. You’re not wearing a helmet. You’re enjoying yourself and smiling.
    These things are not compatible.
I do not have the guts that you do, to do any of these things .

"What would happen if everyone followed the rules?". Japan has the lowest crime rate in the world and the Japanese are second-to-none when it comes to their politeness.
