    The TD Garden is just 29 years old. It's completely unnecessary to build a new arena, especially if public funding is used even for infrastructure.
    The old Boston Garden lasted 67 years.

      The Celtics factor has to do with being able to own their building. The Bruins own the Garden.

      You're not wrong, but this is coming up because the Celtics pay rent to play there and the assumption is that whoever buys the team will build a basketball arena. It makes sense especially to build it down at SeaPort.

    You can’t beat The TD Garden location imo. There’s nothing better going over The Zakim Bridge and seeing the garden on the right. Not to mention North Station and a short walk to The North End for the best food in the city. There couldn’t be a better spot for The Gahdan! Leave it alone, it’s a newer building 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I'm not big on the idea of moving them but in terms of the car equation suburbs people are smarter than we think. We used to take the commuter rail or drive to the orange line to take the subway into the city. You can do the same at Braintree and the red line or one of the green line zones out west.

      @Random-Stranger 3 місяці тому

      Public transport to Celtics game would take a huge stepback. The silver line that goes into Seaport is in now way capable of handling the kind of congestion that Celtics games would bring to the area.

    • @Daniel_Capital
      @Daniel_Capital 3 місяці тому

      @@Random-Stranger it actually is capable, you’d have to send a lot of extra silver line buses, much like when they send extra green line trolleys when the red sox let out. Also, the mbta ferry goes right by there, they would have make a stop there for those going to the south shore as well.

    • @Random-Stranger
      @Random-Stranger 3 місяці тому

      @@Daniel_Capital > extra silver line buses
      😬😬😬 man, that's gonna be a huge clusterfuck on those already busy Seaport roads. I think any discussion about putting a new stadium in the Seaport area should absolutely include the addition of a rapid transit development. Even with the extra trolleys for Celtics games, the greenline is barely able to keep up with the rider surge running every 10-15 minutes. I just don't think extra silver line buses is a viable solution - it's just going to congest that area even more.
      Find a way to convert the silverline buses to rail coming from south station, hell, even above ground mono would be serviceable if it's able to run every 10 minutes.

    • @Daniel_Capital
      @Daniel_Capital 3 місяці тому

      @@Random-Stranger Actually brother, the silver line to south station from there is all tunnel, zero traffic or streets! What happens is you walk to World Trade Center Station (Or Courthouse) and it's a subway tunnel of just the buses. So you have the buses all lined up there waiting. So yeah, traffic is 100% a non issue, it's a tunnel straight to south station!

    Don't know Boston that well so hard to comment but getting rid of a working drydock/shipyard and/or a railyard to build a basketball arena seems kind of short sighted. After all, the food you eat, and the toys you buy etc. have to get from here to there somehow. Sounds like something a politician would do though and make daily living more expensive even for those who don't give a hoot about professional sports.

      I grew up in Lawrence, lived 10 minutes away from the Oracle in Oakland where the Warriors used to play, and now live in LA. I can tell you that the Clippers built in a terrible area. The Rams have their stadium close by, and the Forum is still used for concerts. LAX is also there and all that traffic will come together. The building looks cool, but the area is congested as is. Once the Clippers start playing there, it will be terrible!
